Subject: OK, Let's Tip em: Round 6

Round 6 Friday May 4 Kangaroos v Tigers at Colonial Stadium
Saturday May 5 Saints v Swans at Colonial Stadium
Bombers v Eagles at Colonial Stadium
Power v Bulldogs at Football Park
Dockers v Demons at Subiaco
Lions v Cats at Gabba
Sunday May 6 Hawks v Crows at York Park
Magpies v Blues at MCG First team is home, if I've learned my Aussie geography its the Eagles and Demons making the long haul this week
One need only look as far as King Carey's inflated ego for the Roos woeful performance this year. Check this snipet out on the beloved captain: Players from the Northern Eagles rugby league club, who happened to travel to Melbourne on the same flight with the Kangaroos, who were returning home after being thrashed by the Sydney Swans by 80 points, were stunned to see Roo coach Denis Pagan and his troops all seated at the back of the plane – but skipper Wayne Carey sitting in comfort in the front. A Roos spokeswoman said she was not aware of the incident but it was common practice for Ansett (official carrier for both AFL and NRL) to offer first-class seats to players if there were some spare.
P.S. Frank p, as a veteran of taking many final exams my advice to you is never alter your routine. Study but do not eliminate Tipping, Choon, or Coopers, the consequences could be dire.
Good luck to all. ;) |

Now for some reality;
Tigers Swans-they're due for a good game Dons Port-The dogs dare put a 17 year old in this game? Demons Lions-Strictly a home team pick. This should be a great game. Hawks Blues-closest game of the week.
Good luck, all!

I think its time for a career change, I'm heading down under to solicit in front of the Tribunal, look what brilliant tactics are employed: "Curley received the biggest penalty imposed so far by the tribunal this year after he was found to have “recklessly” made contact with field umpire Kieron Nicholls during last Saturday’s match against Hawthorn at Colonial Stadium. Curley told the tribunal he had not seen Nicholls when he collided with him, because he had been watching the ball. “I thought he (Nicholls) stepped into my path,” Curley said. Nicholls made the report after being asked to view video evidence by umpires’ chief Jeff Gieschen on Monday. Nicholls told the tribunal that Curley’s movement was reckless and close to intentional, adding he suffered a corked arm and “tingling” in his fingers as a result of the collision. Separately, a Melbourne-based eye specialist said Curley should not be found guilty of colliding with the umpire because the player’s entire eye apparatus was solely concentrating on the flight of the ball."
HeHe, now on to my tipps: Tigers (the Roos blow) Sydney (Last second change with Harvey out) Melbourne (But you gotta love the courage of McManus) PORT,PORT,PORT Lions (Cats have returned to being pussies) Bombers Hawks (where the hell is Tasmania?) Blues (as Big Jack would say, "the sorry Pies have no chance, stone motherless none."

Thanks P Tiger for entering my tips! I'm back on line as of 5:00PM CST. However, I think you misread my Hawks - Adelaide tip. I wanted to tip the Hawks! If this post is before the first bounce, I want to change only that tip.

All right, it's about time some order was restored in this so-called tipping comp. Now listen up, I'm only going to post this once:
Roos: Neutral site, my ass! Kangaroos are everwhere in Australia--there's no neutral site for them! Wayne Carey, who?
Swans: The Anti-Saints strategy
Port: I'm tempted to take the Dogs, since it would ensure a Port victory. But I've got to make up some ground here, and can't give any matches away.
Geelong: 'Cause their name just sounds so rude.
Melbourne: Tough pick. Wouldn't be surprised if this went the other way, but gotta pick one of them, eh?
Essendon: Does West Coast have anyone who can walk anymore? You see their injury list?
Adelaide: Upset makes the town doubly proud
Collingwood: Take no prisoners at home.
Please, save your applause until the end of the round.

Welcome back Yohan and Perm Dude!! Good to see a couple of lost footy tipping souls come back to the fold. I need some advice from the tribunal regarding PD's starting position. I think we should either bring him in equal last or maybe we work out the mean and put him in there, what ya all think? Now here are the winning tips from the living Nostradamus of footy tipping. Richmond (saliva free Kangaroos go down) Sydney Melbourne [Freo, Freo, Freo. :( ] Port. (please please please!!) Brisbane (Geelong are pussies!!) Carlton (big Jack to throw a pie at an umpire) Essendon (even Hatters has given up) Hawks (big Sean Rehn makes Adelaide pay for the car washing episode) So there you have it. Still time to make some changes and make a difference. :)

I'm still looking for an Australian beer other than Fosters that I can raise in celebration of Frank P surviving his finals. No luck so far. I mean with the beer. Good luck Frank P!

Thanks Winmiller, I'm currently procrastinating over an essay on Freirean Praxis and it's implications for Health Education. I think there is a beer thread here somewhere, I'll try to BUTT it for you. I know you'll enjoy all the beers on the list. Thanks for the good wishes and please try to wean yourself off the Fosters. :)

Winmiller, it looks like we lost the beer thread. I believe Coopers beers have become a favourite of the discerning EFF participant. Coopers Ale Coopers Pale Ale Coopers Draught Coopers Dark Ale

Winmiller, I've had each of the Coopers Frank mentioned and they are all excellent choices! We only have a few stores that have Coopers near our part or the Chicago are, and it goes pretty fast. I would suggest buying at least 12 of each. There is also a Sparkling Ale. After you get home, relax outside on the patio or deck in your favorite chair and start with any of the types and enjoy. You know you're done when you either can't get out of your chair or can't find it again to sit back down. :) Enjoy!

As I said, the Roos blow. No points the 4th quarter! Was Carey even at the game, and if he was did he stick around long enough to see that impressive fourth frame!
winmiller, where do you live? I heartily endorse Frank p's recommendation of Coopers. In the Chicago area at the larger liquor stores with a good foreign selection of beers you can sometimes find it.
Finally, it appears Frank p has gone into the turtle to preserve his first place margin. His tipps have mimicked Hatters, Rugg, and yours truly. Oh well, looks like four perfect eights this week.

edperl, just a couple of things. First, Wayne Carey was suspended for this game. He got a game for striking and nearly got more for spitting at the crowd. Now, my second point, the turtle? I must admit I laughed at this one. Why do you think I leave it till the last minute to put my tips in? At least you guys may now have a feeling of increased self esteem, now that the master has endorsed your tips. :)

No offense intended against the Roos or Wayne Carey, just trying to light a little fire under the Skipper ala Denis Pagan. I know the King was suspended, but rest assured there is a method in my madness. Don't forget who tipped the mighty Roos for their upset two weeks ago. Tipping a Roos upset is my trump card in the pursuit of 'The Master'. ;-)

Edperl, here's a ready-made list of excuses from the AFL opinion archive: Why are last year`s grand finalists performing so poorly? Hangover - 19% Injuries - 14% No good shelias - 21% Want to be "pretty" for premiership season - 46%
