0 Subject: "Odd" Trading and Price Changes Explained

I have discovered the real cause of the "pricing quirks" that have recently been pointed out by Sludge, J, and others. We have assumed all along that the "lemmings" were acting independently and often without method in their selections. We were wrong! I have discovered that there is indeed method behind their apparent madness.

How did I discover this? My first clue was the report that Moderator Lou had reported that "managers are trading oddly". "How could that be?" I wondered. On the assumption that all these managers were operating more or less independently, it would seem that by definition most of the managers would in fact trading normally (though perhaps illogically). Perhaps Moderator Lour knew something. This seemed unlikely on the face of it, but I decided to investigate further.

Without divulging my methods (as some might doubt their morality), I will say that I have managed to intercept a series of emails and other communications that prove beyond doubt the existence of an enormous group of managers (perhaps nearly half the players in the game) that are in fact in collusion in their trading. This organization, which calls itself the Brigade Opposed (to) RotoGurupies (or BORG) is actually acting as a collective with the single-minded purpose of confusing us!

To that end they have devised a series of trading schemes, so bizarre that even typical "lemming" logic cannot explain them. For example they recently had their managers all buy Glavine and Johnson after their starts, thus overriding the sells of the other players in the game. They have even gone so far as to hack into various Gurupie computers and determine the randomly sampled rosters so that they could be excluded from this "odd" trading.

In short we face an enemy endowed with extreme cunning. It will take great strength for our culture to survive!

I'm new at this game and need some advice. I've just spent the last of my team's budget on Luis Tiant and Rocky Colavito. I've been thinking, though, that I should've gone with a younger starter. Does anyone know when Tiant pitches again?

I hate these learning experiences.

George - trade Tiant immediately for Old Hoss Radbourne. No rotation necessary, pitches every other day, all CGs.

Does anyone know when SW will IPO Walter Johnson and @ what price they will do it? I am hoping it will be the minimum 500K, there's no way they would IPO anyone more than 2 mill ;-)

The Big Train should indeed be 500K, at age 112. Probably lost a little off that heater by now (but still could throw harder than Doug Jones).

I can't afford Johnson if he's over 500K because I own the $18 million Satchel Paige. I know he's pretty old, but he used to be really good!

Age is a case of mind over matter, if you don't mind, it don't matter.

I was debating on whether to get Jack McDowell or Cy Young.

I eventually decided on Black Jack since he's won a Cy Young Award. The other guy never did.

Well, maybe we did beat the BORG last year as the season went on as we saw bigger and bigger Randro price swings. Maybe the growing number of randroers became so great that even the BORG couldn't assimilate. Ah well. Philliephan will be missed again.

It should be noted that this thread was from last season. Since then, our friend philliephan has passed away. Those who didn't know him can get a very small taste of his contributions through this thread.

This is pretty funny. I wonder how many teams you would need to create to influence price changes in your favor. 10,000, 20,000. real funny stuff here.
