Anyways, so how does everyone like their team so far? Mine is fortunate to be 2-2 I think. I'm hoping that 7-7 gets me into the playoffs heh.

damn, edge hasn't scored yet!!!
and davis is stinkin' too......so my 2 superstar (or supposed to be......) RB are producing less than expected. Manning too is not to good and the only 2 spots going great are mia OL and nyj ST.
ok, i lost 2 games for bad luck, but i don't deserve to be more than 2-2 as i am.

It seems the lower-end guys are doing the job this year. Brady, Bledsoe. Heck, even Kelly Holcombe has more points than Garcia! Bleh. In the other league Im playing I drafted Warner first round. What a disaster. After starting the season 0-4, I took the injury as an opportunity to dump that dude, and then traded for Trent Green.

i like my team lot. they are playing great. I am willing to trade brunell if anyone needs help at the qb, and I have an extra WR if anyone needs one. I would like help at RB.

I like my team so far, but I have been lucky. I too am not impressed my qb's. I don't believe I am starting a guy that is 40. I am more amazed that I haven't received any trade offers from beebop. I would not mind moving one of my RB's if I can get some quality in return. When do we need to let you know how long we want to sign a player for?

Sorry to post again. I see that the tranactions are still pending. I am not sure which Robinson I told you drop, but I would like to keep K. Robinson and Drop B. Robinson. Thanks AP10.

Responding to what was posted in a prior thread, it takes me closer to an hour (not 10 minutes) to review both my and my opponent's scores by hand (it doesn't make sense to check one but not the other). First, I've got to have the league scoring up in one window, the "preliminary scores" in a second window, and the NFL boxscores in a 3rd. It probably takes me 5 mins. to load the appropriate sites and then a minute or so per starter (times 38 starters) to flip back and forth and back and forth until the alt-tab keys are about to fall off of my keyboard, doing the math for each player or team position. The special teams take a little longer.

Again, my frustration isn't with you, Derek, it's with the site, and specifically the fact that hand-checking our scores is essentially mandatory . I don't hand-check scores in any other league I belong to, unless it's a REALLY close game (and probably not even then). I like this league, I appreciate the work you have done, but I'm just voicing my opinion that the quality of the site hosting our league is not satisfactory. I would prefer to move to another site in future years, even if it meant losing the OLine or Special Teams stats (or doing them by hand). I could cope with doing these 2 stats by hand, but not all the rest.

One other thing... if the OLine and ST stats are believed to be inaccurate when the "preliminary results" are posted, then it would seem to make more sense to simply omit them from the totals (rather than including false numbers). Just my .02 for making the best of the present situation.

Doug, there shouldnt be many errors when I post the results. All the stats posted on the site should be correct minus OL & ST and when I download the stats into the software I correct OL & ST manually. I really dont think its necessary to double check each score, but you should atleast eyeball them up. Usually if there is an error, its an obvious one. ie No pts given, or an extreme amnt of pts awarded.

ps) The reason I can not get correct scores on the site is because the scoring for ST & OL are not given properly in the scoring setup. It appears they 'hard wired' those 2 categories for our special scoring. Therefore I can not eliminate them...

I've smelt wrongdoings since day 1 ...it seems friendship and colusion and all sorts of crap is going on in this league ... something aint right here ... I suggest everyone go back and check ALL your weekly scores as things just arn't right in the world here. So many things just arn't adding up. Not good, not good.

Silent D, your comments are a disgrace. Before you start making accusations of false BS you should get your facts straight.

a) Yes, there have been scoring problems. That is NOT my fault, they come down, and I post them. It would be impossible for me to check each persons roster of 31 players each week. That would make for me double checking 372 players each week. Impossible. I've clearly stated that each team should check their stats and I've given each team 2 full days after I post the stats to double check their scores and let me know of any discrepencies. How could there possibly be any wrongdoing in that? I'm not sure how you could suggest that I am purposefully cheating anyones scores. Not only would that be a waste of my time, but also yours. Truthfully, I havent even double checked my scors thus far, because all of my wins have been blowouts. When I have a matchup that is close, I'm sure I will double check my scores.

b) Collusion? What the hell are you talking about? I give every team a fair chance of fixing any errors. Everything in this league, has been 100% fair to each manager. Let me guess, there is collusion between 11 managers and you are the only one being left out? Lol, c'mon man. Think about it like this, if there was collusion, dont you think that my best friends team (Ike44) would be better then 1-3 going on 1-4? Your comments and accusations are ridiculous. I'm sure the other 11 managers in this league will back me up on this.

c) What things arent adding up? Dont rant and rave without giving your examples with solid reasoning. I cant wait to see this....lol.

d) What wrongdoing have you smelt since day 1? Please let me know, because I know of none.

e) I'm not sure what managers you are considering myself friends with, but the only manager who is my real friend is Ike, as I've addressed above, and he is 1-3 going on 1-4. All of the other managers are gurupies that I talk with occasionally, but not any more frequently than yourself.

f) I've given each team a full 2 days after I have posted the final results. If you havent checked your scores before now, it is to late. There needs to be a deadline each week to protest scoring errors. It would be unfair to go back and start changing previous weeks scores. How would you like for managers to scrutinize the scoring in week 11, and go back and change records? Not in this league my friend.

Silent D, your comments are ridiculous. I am in charge of multiple leagues that are run fairly, I have people to back me up on this. I run multiple best bets threads on this board that are also fair. No where, in the years of my management of games, have I been unfair to anyone. I go out of my way, to make things equally fair for all participating players. Your false claims against me hurt my friend. Not once have I ever been accused of such things nor have I had any manager act like you have.

A disgrace.

If there was collusion AP10 and Ike's teams would have done a whole lot better than distant 3rd and 6th, respectively, in the Baseball league. Please, cmon. Sour grapes.

One final point to add to nerfherders post 19.

I have not made 1 trade with Ike in our baseball league.

I have not made 1 trade with Ike in our football league. Heck, I havent even made a trade in football.

How could I possibly be colluding with Ike, if that is the accusation...

I was thinking. Silent, if you think this league is corrupt. I'll let you be the official scorer. You can be in charge of making sure every players score is correct. Sound good? Wanna approve trades, adds, waives also?

Maybe there would be an appreciation for all the hard, honest work I do.

ps. I'm sorry to keep going on this, but that is one of the most offensive posts directed towards me, ever.

One thing I would suggest is not deleting the original scores when you post the corrected ones. Particularly if the outcome of a game has been changed... I'd MUCH rather take a bandwith hit but be able to see the "before and after" to figure out scoring.

Also, could you please explain what happened last week such that the scores that were originally posted had an incorrect roster for my opponent. Thanks in advance...

Another nice thing would be that whenever a correction is made (ST or OL corrected) that it is posted publicly, so we all know what's going on. It's not that I don't trust you or anything, it just saves me from having to spend an hour playing detective when a simple 10 second explanation from someone would have sufficed.

Also, FWIW, I don't understand why there needs to be a protest period. The stats are the stats, I don't see why it should matter that much if they are corrected today vs. next week or whatever. I think the winner of a game should be whoever scored the most points, not whoever really scored the most points by Wednesday at 6pm EST. It's not like you're going to be swamped with emails correcting previous weeks scores, etc. Just my .02.

Why are you going insane dude? You've cheated me more then once with free agent pick ups and i've seen you do it to others as well ... then when I e-mail you "oops I must have overlooked it" (you never seem to overlook your team) Unfortunately I have had many personal issues going on at home so I havn't had much time to look things over but I do know when something isn't right and the constant "mistakes" in your favour (especially when u know a manager isn't paying 100% attention) ie me ... I assure you though, u will not take advantage of me any longer and I will do my best to win this league just so you can't. Peace!

That's all I have to say, so instead of yelling and screaming and defending yourself (why so defensive if you've done nothing wrong?) please just let this go and let the best man win.

Silent, dont take your personal problems out on me. Please let me know how I've cheated anyone out of a free agent pickup? Pretty please, I'm dying to know.

Once again, you say stuff without backing up your words. I have never made mistakes in my favor on purpose or chose to ignore mistakes. I have no clue what you are talking about, please clarify. Maybe you want to drop the issue because you realize how ridiculous you sound.

How am I supposed to know you havent been paying attention? Is that my fault? Am I supposed to give you special treatment? C'mon man, get a grip of reality.

Why am I defending myself? Because I was wrongfully accused of something that hurts. As much time as I spend on this league so myself along with 11 others can have a fun time, then you slam me for no apparant reason? Give no details.

You are a joke...

Derek... I know you're working hard, but like dwfffan I've noticed a few things in the waiver process that don't seem to make sense... I've emailed you about these before the last round of claims were processed, but I didn't get a response so I'll post these concerns here so everyone can be in on the discussion.

My first concern is the fact that Nerf used his priority to get both Mixon AND Bernard... this doesn't make sense to me, as soon as one of the claims is processed he moves to the back of the line before the second one is processed, no?

Also, am I misreading the rules, or is the waiver period 48 hours from the time of the initial claim? You seem to be resetting the time the waiver will process if someone with a higher priority also submits a claim to 48 hours from the higher prioirty claim, but I don't remember anything about that in the rules. I believe it's supposed to be 48 hours from the time of the initial claim regardless of whether a higher priority claim is placed.

Not accusing you of ANYTHING, just voicing some concerns on a few issues that affect the waivers process and that may have fallen through the cracks.

dwfffan, i dont think that list isupdated. As when you look down, some of the players i tried to pickup, i couldnt becuase of the waiver priority. That said, could that person please have left Pathon alone so i coulda had 3 starting WR's this week. lol
Also, i think its already been discussed, but i cant remember the reasoning, what was the problem in doing a pickup/drop at the one time and the whole process taking 2 days. Because you are basically screwed if you cant pick up a player because of priority, and then the next guy you try, youmiss out for the same reason.

doug, I replied to your email, so I'm not sure why you didnt get it.

The waiver priority listed in each email is CURRENT, that priority does change with each add processed however. Remember, your priority doesnt change until that first add is processed and that player is literally added to your team. (If I were to adjust the waiver priority for each claim (prior to actually being added) it would be changing, literally every hour. I would be moving from #2 to #12 back to #1 if the number one guy used his priority and took your guy.)

To determine, who gets whom, is based on two things...

a) Waiver priority &
b) Order of claims being placed.

Using those two categories, I have to make a projected waiver claim priority that is adjusting literally, every hour. It seems difficult, but if you map it out, its easy.

An example & solution to your problem/situation.

The reason why Nerfherders got 2 claims ahead of you and you only got 1 claim ahead of him is simple if you map it out. Lets go through the timeline.

Original Priority (these may not be exactly accurate, but FMKH had a higher priority than Nerf originally. In this scenario, that is all that matters.

Original Priority
1. Furious Midget Klingon Hordes (FMKH)
2. Nerfherders (nerf)
.
.
12. whomever

Nerf placed multiple claims.
add Bulluck
add Bernard
add Mixon

a day later FMKH places multiple claims
add Bulluck
add XXX
add XXX
add Bernard
add Mixon

Both teams have Bulluck as their #1 claim. FMKH has higher priority, so he obtains Bulluck.

Priority after add of Bulluck
1. Nerf
.
.
12. FMKH

add Bernard, nerf has #1 priority so he obtains him.

Priority after last add

1. XXX
.
11. FMKH
12. Nerf

FMKH has 2 adds (that arent similar to nerf) before their similar one.

Priority after 2 FMKH adds (not similar to nerf)

1. XXX
.
11. Nerf
12. FMKH

Now they both have a claim in for Mixon. Nerf has the higher priority, so he obtains his rights.

Priority after last add

1. XXX
.
11. FMKH
12. Nerf

Understand? That is the exact same process that yahoo proceses their claims, but they have a computer doing it. I'm doing it manually. Its really not that hard.

Hope that helps.

Derek

PS, No one has gotten screwed out of their claims. If you have #1 priority, you have priority over everyone. You cant pick up 10 people with that #1 priority however, you can only pick up 1. After that one add, the final 9 claims you have lowest priority.

I have record of each and every transaction, times placed and everything. Once your claim is to me and in my records, it is done correct. Basically, if you see your add in the daily emails, your claim will be processed properly. If your claim isnt in the emails, I never recieved your claim. Notify me immediately.

dwfffan, you are correct. beebop should've been listed near the bottom of the priority list for the 10/11 email. He was at the bottom of the list on my sheet, unforunately the information copied incorrectly into the email.

To prove beebop was placed at the end after his claim. beebop used his #1 priority on Marcus Bell. His 2nd claim was Jerome Pathon, which he lost to Sandwich Town Statics. Since then, he has had a claim go through and was placed at the bottom. Everything is correct.

Thanks for the explanation Derek... this all makes sense, and now I see that the problem with Nerf getting both DLs is related to the issue I raised of the 48 hour claim period from INITIAL claim. I have been basing my claims on this understanding. Therefore, since my claims were placed a day later than Nerf, both of my "other" claims should have been a day later. Clearly, if someone else has a claim on a player I want that claim to process before my other claims. It is difficult to set my claims up in an organized manner such as this if the process date and time keeps resetting every time a higher priority claim is put in. Alternately, I'd have to continually reorder my claims every time you send out an update. Finally, since there are often multiple players scheduled to process at the same time, it would be helpful if you could show the "order" of the 5 players being processed Friday at 5pm, etc. so that I know how to order my claims accordingly. It seems this order should be fixed, regardless of priority.

Basically, what it boils down to is that I fail to understand the problem with 48 hours from time of initial claim or how it would result in anyone getting "screwed". On the other hand, I find the "reset the time" system to make things unnecessarily complicated and I do feel I basically got screwed out of a DL by "wasting" my priority on a player who wasn't being challenged. Clearly this wasn't my intent, as my understanding was that the DLs would be processed consecutively, not DL, then K, then back to DL again.

Doug, i'm not sure I followed everything you posted but...

When 2 players make similar claims, that player should be processed 48 hours after the first claim. If you have noticed different, let me know. I know there was a mistake with your one claim, but I changed that earlier in the week.

Since claims are not timestamped I do not know the exact minute a claim was made therefore I list the 48 hours starting when I notice the claim. That is the reason for multiple claims at the exact same time (they are the times I check). The order is correct however and is listed from top -> bottom of the email. Top = first claim(s) -> Bottom = last claim(s).

so he get ramsey and the 1st spot?

LAZIO, you made 3 claims this week therefore before that last wave of claims, you had the lowest priority. Ike hasnt made a claim for a couple of weeks, and was ranked #1. Rather simple. Once Ike makes his claim, he gets bumped to #12, but I havent sent out an email since the player was placed on Ikes roster, therefore in the last email, ike was still ranked #1.

derek, looks like you about kicked my ass. Unfortunately the game was decided by my special teams getting negative points and yours blowing up for 48. I will see you again. Good luck this week.

Some things about scoring Ive been thinking about:

Why do we not get points for offensive players scoring 2-point conversions?

Why do we not get points for Special Teams blocking kicks?

Why do we not get points for defensive players scoring safeties?

These are standard stat categories for football, and I'm wondering if we deliberately left them out of it was just an oversight. It would not be terribly difficult to score previous games if we want to add these stats.

There were A LOT of close games. Please double check your score along with your opponents score. The deadline for filing scoring errors is Wednesday by 6pm EST.

Nerf, my only reasoning for leaving those categories out were because they are so infrequent that it wouldnt really have that much of an affect on the overall scoring of the league.

I would never alter the scoring system from any point after the draft up through the last week. Once the season is over, however, I would be open to ideas on improvements for the league. Remind me after the season ;)

I bring it up now because having those out cost me the game this week. I had one blocked kick, and two 2 pointers (Garcia - Hearst). Oh well.

Of course, just about anything cost me the game this week. Reimersma could get 1 more yard, Chambers could not get knocked out of the game by an illegal hit. San Diego could not have kicked one kick-off out of bounds, denying me a return. It feels pretty awful losing by one point after so many players and so many plays. Statistically amazing too. Not that I can do anything about it. I'm pretty much out of the running now, so good luck to Art! I hope he does well in the playoffs. :)

Sorry to double post but I would like to request Bulger, if I don't get ramesy. Drop stewart. I have not had good access to email because I am on the road.

Art, I never received your request for Ramsey. Either way it wouldnt have mattered since Ike had #1 priority.

dgrooves, use NFL.com to look at their Boxscores (GameStats). To categories such as fumbles forced, pass deflected, etc, click on the players name. Then click on Game Logs.

These wont change the outcome of my game, but I found a few scoring errors:

Rich Gannon - 332 passing yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs, 1 fumble => 13 + 6 - 6 - 3 = 10 points, not 4

ST-Texans - 120 return yards, 102 return yards allowed, 1 punt inside the 20 => 24 - 12 + 2 = 14 points, not 12

Jay Bellamy - 4 solo, 1 assist, 2 INTs, 2 PDs = 8 + 1 + 12 + 6 = 27 points, not 30

This makes the final score of my game:
Ike44 261
Me 254

I will preface my upcoming comments by saying that I understand and appreciate the work Derek is putting into this league and that I dont hold him responsible for scoring errors.

That said, I find these errors disheartening. This is the first week I have hand-checked my scores and my opponent's scores. I would like to say I strongly agree with Doug's comments in post 30: there should be no protest period for score checking. I am seriously considering going back and checking the scores from all of my games, assuming the scores and outcomes would be changed if discrepancies are found. What does everyone else think?

I for one dont like the idea of having to score by hand every week, but if it must be done to assure a fair game, than I guess I have to live with it.

dgrooves, I dont think your calculations are correct. I do think the leagues scoring for your players was corret though...

Rich Gannon
332 yds passing = 13 pts
1 TD = 6 pts
2 INT = -6 pts
3 Fumbles = -9 pts
----------------------
4 pts

ST - Texans
120 return yds gained = 120/10 * 2 = 24 pts
102 return yds allowed = 102/15 * -2 = -14 pts
1 Punt I20 = 2 pts
--------------------
12 pts

Jay Bellamy
4 tackles = 8 pts
1 assist = 1 pt
2 INT's = 12 pts
2 Pass Def. = 6 pts
1 Fumble Recovery = 3 pts
------------------------
30 pts

I will reiterate this...

There should be little/no scoring errors. I really dont think its necessary to double check/hand score your scores unless if your matchup was extremely close. Within 10 pts or less.

There is nothing wrong with my calculations:

For whatever reason, NFL.com lists Gannonn with only one fumble.

102/15 = 6.8 and unless we are only rounding special teams return yardage, 6.8 becomes 6 and 6 * -2 = -12.

ESPN.com doesnt give Bellamy the fumble recovery, for whatever reason, which is why I didnt include it.

I used NFL.com for fumbles because ESPN.com doenst list them and I used ESPN.com for defensive stats because NFL.com hadnt updated theirs when I checked everything.

I will repeat that this is not an attack of you Derek. It looks like most of the discrepancies were the result of different stats.

I've noticed fumble discrepencies as well. It seems that we are fighting over "fumbles" vs. "fumbles lost". Personally, I think only "fumbles lost" should be counted, because this stat is what we consider an error on the player, as most fumbles not lost are fumbles as the player goes out of bounds, etc. Even a fumble by the QB recovered by the offense is considered a run for play purposes, not considered a change of possesion.

dgrooves, you are correct. Your math was right, but your stats you provided were wrong, for whatever reason. It was stated prior to the season that the official source for stats was NFL.com, which makes sense.

Maybe changing fumbles -> fumbles lost next year would be a good idea. Nothing can change during the season.

ps. Post 79 has determined to be false and I'm unsure why dgrooves will not delete it. False allegations only leads to jumpiness and is not needed.

PLEASE
If you find, what you believe to be, an incorrect scoring decision, contact me first! After I review your scoring error, and it is accurate, I will post the changes made in this forum.

Posting in the forum before I can look at it leads to people getting into a frenzy before I can even view the errors, to make sure they are correct.

AP10, what is false? Why should I delete it? I made no allegations and made no personal attacks. What is so controversial in that post that it must be erased so no one will read it and this badly of you, even though I have said twice now that you are not at fault?

NFL.com only lists Gannon as fumbling once, even though it was a fumble lost. NFL.com does list fumbles that are not lost but do not credit Gannon with any of those.

Also, you didnt address the ST-Texans issue. We both have the same stats but there is nothing wrong with my calculations.

dgrooves, I'm not saying there were personal attacks, because there werent. What I am saying is that there is no need for the league to view individual scoring errors unless if they are correct. Your official scoring was correct, the scoring error you reported was incorrect, because of using different sources.

Special Teams Formulas
=Ceiling((return yards gained / 10) * 2) - ceiling((return yards allowed / 15) * 2) + (Punts inside 20 * 2)

** It shouldnt matter if its ceiling or floor, its identical for the league. If its ceiling leave the scores the same, if its floor, subtract 2 from each ST unit in the league.

NFL.com clearly lists Rich Gannon as fumbling 3 times, while only recovering one of them.

Why are we rounding up return yards and rounding down every other type of yardage?

Who knows, doesnt make much sense. lol.

In all reality, it should be rounded down, but since every team gets and gives up some return yardage it doesnt matter.

If you round down, just subtract 2 pts from each of the special teams scoring. Same difference.

I would like to start a discussion about scoring and what we would like to show with the scoring. I'm specifically talking about special teams and offensive line. Now, it is unusual to have these 'players' in a league, and the scoring system is ok, but I think it could better reflect the skill of the teams in question.

Special Teams:

What I am finding with special teams, is that the excellence of the special teams is being overshadowed by the APPEARANCE of the special teams. Basically, a bad defense = good special teams under this format, because they get alot of kickoffs, and the majority of points are from kickoff yards. I think a better approach would be to concentrate more on the average yards per return. So, we could use the same scoring format for yards, but subtract/add returns as a modifier to getting yards merely from just being really bad at stopping the other team from scoring.

Here are two examples. This is from the Pittsburgh - Cincinatti game. Bad defense vs. good special teams.

Cinc: 7-126, 1 i20. Pitt: 2-97, 1 TD
Under the current system this nets 8 points. But the Bungles recieved 6 kickoffs while sending off only 1, which was returned 99 yards for a TD.

Conversely, the Steelers also net 8 points from this game, even though they got only 2 chances to return kicks. Without the touchdown, it would be only 2.

Under the scoring system I propose, the number of returns would be subtracted from return yards, and added to yards allowed. This puts the scores much more in line with the actual performance of the special teams themselves, and not so much on the offense or defense giving them opportunities.

Bengals would score 3 points. (24, -7, 2, -12, 2, -6)
Steelers would score 13 points. (18, 6, -2, -16, 7)

Offensive Line:

Similarly, I think that O-line points should be scored more on yards per run than just running yards. Though I do not think the scoring is as 'broken' here as it is in special teams. The system I propose uses 3 yards per run as the zero line:

(yards gained/3) - runs, - sacks. (take out TD's)

Big time running teams are going to get alot of points in this system, and bring them more in line with the top scorers of other positions.
Using the same game as an example, let's look at the Bungles vs. the Steelers running games:

Bungles: 24-78, 5 sacks (1 TD)
Steelers: 35-211, 2 sacks (3 TD)

under the current system:
Bungles: 8, -5, 1 = 4
Steelers: 16, -2, 3 = 17

Under proposed system:
Bungles: 78/3, -24, -5 = -3
Steelers: 211/3, -35, -2 = 33

I havent tested this for season's worth of games, but I want to know what ya'll think of these scoring systems, and perhaps implement them for next year.

One more thing about ST scoring. I round to the nearest multiple of 2 (ceiling of 2) which is equivalent of saying, that the rounding happens before multiplying by 2.

LAZIO, you will know when/if a player leaves since each person has to set their starting lineups each week. If they dont, they go invalid. I looked 10 minutes prior to the lineup deadline and Silent was the only one who didnt have his set yet. I'm sure he was just busy and had to last minute set his team...

For the Record
I am activating Rodney Harrison and sending Jevon Kearse to the IR. For some reason, I cant activate Rodney Harrison, however.

Anyways, my roster will be one player short at DB this week on the site. Rodney Harrison will be starting in that spot, even though the leagues website will not show it.

Doug, go to this thread.

The Hardcore 'Fantasy Football' Keeper League VI

Search for IR.

It clearly states when you can add a player to IR but it doesnt state when you have to remove him, similar to Yahoo!

From the league rules (http://theperfectkeeperleague.150m.com/hardcore_rules.html ):

"Additionally, if a player on your roster misses an entire game, he may be placed on injured reserve (with a maximum of two players on IR per team). Once that player returns to action (by participating in so much as a single play in a game) he must be removed from the IR prior to the following week's roster freeze."

Hmm, I didnt realize that was placed on that rules page...

When I modified the IR in thread VI, I didnt state you had to remove an IR player from your IR slot once active because I knew the software couldnt handle it.

I havent enforced this throughout the league all year including myself. I did however, try to activate Harrison two weeks ago and it wouldnt let me so I just forgot about it. Either way, I have Kearse who would've been placed on the IR.

Secondly, consequences for such actions were never determined, therefore I find it hard to determine a consequence now once the unrealized rule was broken. Since I havent enforced this, how do I go back and check each and every injury and the time they were removed from the IR?

No clue.

I don't know how you go back and check "each and every" injury since I don't know if the site keeps a full- season transaction history for IR moves (but have there really been that many?)... if this info is in fact available, it would probably take less time than hand checking my team's score for the week. As for myself I've had Crowell and Foster on IR all season and that's it. Crowell finally played a game this weekend, so I would like to bring him off of IR and moving Tony Brackens to IR in his place before next weekend's games. The only way I can figure to do this is to drop a player before making the moves and then have Derek move the dropped player back onto my roster once the moves are complete... do you want to just handle this yourself Derek, or should I input these moves (except for the 're-add' which you'll need to do)?

Also, just so we're clear moving forward, are we going to be disregarding the rule this season that you need to bring players off of IR when they play a game? Or if are we going to enforce it, what will the penalty be?
109Nerfherders
      ID: 308512415

That's a pretty tough rule to enforce. Ive never used it myself. In baseball, You have to have a reason to put a guy on DL, but you can leave him there indefinitely. The penalty of course is that if he is on the DL, he cant be used. So keeping a good player on the IR doesnt really benefit the manager unless he wants to horde players. I dont see that happening here.

On another note, what's with the three invalid rosters this week? What happens if two teams facing eachother have invalid rosters?

I personally feel you should be able to leave a player on IR as long as you want. You only have 2 IR slots allowed and the player pool isnt as deep (as say the 20 team Gurupie league) therefore I dont think hording players comes into play. I would rather, eliminate the reactivation rule, not only do I think it isnt needed, it creates more work. I'll let the league decide on this one. Input please.

Yes, there were 3 invalid rosters this week. Silent Devils has been fairly inactive all season, even though this is his first week not setting a lineup. His actions are being noted, and will be dealt with at the end of the season. Ike, well, he had an excuse, trust me, I wont let him do it again! ;) wiggs claims he set his lineup but I'm not 100% sure it was submitted accurately because I receive a notice each time a lineup is set/changed. I never recieved one for him.

2 rosters with 0 players starting = 0 pts for each team which does result in a tie.

PS, I will not be able to post the official results until Tuesday night which will then extend the discrepency deadline until Thursday.

I'm uncertain that 2 teams with unset rosters should be given a tie. Unset rosters should be deemed as a forfeit, and thus given a loss. It's possible, however unlikely, that collusion could take place if unset rosters would result in a tie.

Let's say that after week 12 two teams are playing for the last two playoff spots at 8-4. They are battling with a third team that is 6-6. Those 8-4 teams are facing eachother in week 13. Who's to stop the two teams from not setting rosters, taking a tie, and ensuring themselves of a playoff spot? I know it's a stretch, but stranger things have happened.

Hmm this fumble thing is really getting bizarre. How does a player (A. Becht) get credit for a fumble if he didnt get an offensive touch? Doesnt a player have to have a run, or a catch to get a fumble? His player page gives him no credit for a fumble. I'd like to get a distinct explanation for what a fumble is in this league, as well as where to find the 'official' source for fumbles.

Oh look I found it! I had to go to the game's play by play to find A. Becht's apparent 'fumble'.

D.Brien kicks onside 10 yards from MIN 30 to MIN 40. A.Becht MUFFS catch ball out of bounds at MIN 40.

Raise your hands of you think THIS is a fumble.

I'm going to disagree with changing fumbles to fumbles lost.

The player only has control of if he funbles the ball or not. If that fumble goes out of bounds, its basically luck. If someone on his team recovers the ball, its out of that players control and is basically luck or not if it is recovered.

Anyways, while I dont know exactly what happened with Becht, therefore I cant determine if it was a fumble or not. Apparently the official scorer ruled it a fumble. I think your problem is with the official scorer, not the league.

What happens if Becht fumbles that ball, it doesnt go out of bounds and the other team recovers? Either way, Becht should've had the ball. Once he loses that ball, its his fault. If its recovered by his team, thats all good, but its still a negative on Becht.

wiggs, I dont know what to tell you. There is nothing that I can do. I can promise you that your roster was never submitted properly. If your roster was submitted incorrectly, the message will state so. I'm going to assume, you didnt read the popup message once submitting your lineup. Either way, you could've easily looked to see if your lineup submitted properly or not by viewing the matchup page.

AP10, whats with the new name?

Anyway, the way I see, the only time a fumble will hurt a player's team is if he loses it. And what about the times a player fumbles then recovers it himself? He's got "control" over both those actions, yet he loses points for them.

Without being able to see the play, I can only guess as to what happened. I assume that since it was an onside kick, Becht knocked the ball out of bounds to keep it from being possesed by the Vikings. Officially, this is a muff, which is also a fumble, but in this case it's actually HELPING his team. My view on fumbles is "no harm, no foul". See post 84.

I'm thankful that we do not keep stats on kick returners. How many times do they 'fumble' a kick, and then pick it up and run with it, or just fall on it. No big deal eh? But we would see -3's all over the place.

This also brings up another issue. Defensive players do not get credit for tackles on special teams? They do not get credit for touchdowns that arent on defense. ( I know this because I did not get credit for one.) Then why should offensive players get credit for ANYTHING they do on special teams? This would include fumbles, muffs, tackles, touchdowns, or whatever else.

I want to apologize if my posts seem to be picking apart every aspect of the league. That's not my intention. What I want to do is bring some of the discrepencies I see to the table for discussion, whether they be scoring systems, or what stats are scored. Unlike baseball, football does not lend itself as well to statistics. So many different things can happen in a football play that can have drastic affects on a fantasy system this complex.

I get the feeling nobody really cares one way or another, but at least my thoughts are written down for posterity. heh.

Nerf, while I disagree about changing fumbles to fumbles lost, I would agree that ST shouldnt count for fumbles, if you cant score positive pts.

Basically it isnt my choice however. I input I want fumbles to count as -3 and then every player who is counted for a fumble, gets -3 pts. If anyone is credited for a fumble on ST in the future, I would be willing to manually go in and change that scoring. I would do it in your case, but it would make no difference for the outcome...

dgrooves, the only repeat offender, appears to be Silent Devils. Not only has he not submitted a lineup the past 2 weeks, he has yet to manage this team. Action will need to be taken. Luckily, I have never had to deal with a problem like this, but something must be done.

I think the best idea would be for me, the commish to take over the team so it doesnt completely go to crap. I will probably retool his roster, and submit a starting lineup each and every week. It would be impossible for him to make the playoffs, so that shouldnt be a concern. After the season, we will then need to find a quality manager who would either a) be willing to take over SD's team or b) completely wash SD's team, and have an expansion type draft.

Any thoughts or ideas?

I agree that someone should take over his team, but Id like to see us get someone from outside the league to fill the place as soon as possible. If nothing else, trades with his team would involve two parties, each with only one stake (team) in the league. I am not saying that you (AP10) would collude or anything like that, but I think its best if the person making add, drop, and trade decisions is the person who will be owning the team.

dgrooves, that would be great, if we could find another manager to take over his team this year but...who would want to take over a team that is 1-7 and is rather pathetic. I think, the only way we'll be able to find another manager is if we have an expansion type draft.

If it comes down to it, I would rather overtake the team, than have it sit around and rot anymore. Atleast a temporary overtake. If I overtook the team, I would post every move in the forum, and if 50% of the league objected, I wouldnt make the move. A checks and balance type of system. Anyways, I think I will send SD his notice this week and I will send out an email to the league, asking what everyone feels should be done.

AP10, I have no problem with you taking over the team until we find a new manager, but I would rather try to find one starting now than wait until the end of the season. Sure, we may not find one until then, but what is the harm in trying?

I dont like the idea of an expansion draft. The keeper system and the draft we will have before next year's season starts will give the new owner enough talent to compete in the league. There are good players on SD's team, at least enough to max out our keeper requirements, if the owner chooses to do so.

I refuse to lose top players from my team in an expansion draft because SD decided to drop out.

dwfffan, yeah, that would be great, if you can vouch that they will be good managers. Also, they will need to understand what team they will be taking over, and while this season is basically a wash, next season they will have a solid team to compete.

Silent Devils projected Keepers
4 of the following 6
Daunte Culpepper
Anthony Thomas
Plaxico Burress
Eric Moulds
Todd Heap
Randy McMichael

4 of the following 6
Ryan Longwell (currently ranked 2nd among kickers)
Gbaja-Biamila
Nate Wayne
Junior Seau
Kwamie Lassiter
Samari Rolle

So his team will have a very solid nucleus for next year.

Derek, 2 things. First of all i submitted a line up today just to see if it worked. Please confirm if you recieved it. I know for sure the pop up window came up.

2nd. I would like to add dennis northcutt to my roster and move david terrell to IR.
thanks

I think I should get bonus points for the Eagles getting 299 rushing yards last night. :)

Actually, under my proposed OL scoring, I would get 59 points. I'll take that instead please. :)

I agree that it would be preferable to find an owner now. Even if he feels this season is shot, it will still be good for him to be familiar with the other managers, figure out how our league scoring works, etc. before next year's draft, when pretty much everyone will start over from an even playing field.

In the meantime, I agree that Derek should take over as interim manager of the team.

Nerf, all that proves to me is that your proposed system needs to be tweaked! ;-)

yeah it was him that was complaining before wasn't it?

anyways find someone to take it over. if they don't like his team I'll offer to take that over and they can have my team. I'm .500 a bit better off and wouldn't mind the challenge of rebuilding

i havent seen derek around the last couple days. Its sort of annoying, because ive dropped ron dayne on tuesday or wednesday, and he is still on my team, so i havent been able to pick someone up.

hmm...I'm not sure how you havent seen me around? I post multiple times daily on this board and check daily.

Totally slipped my mind that I was in charge of SD's team. Ugh. Anyways, Ron Day should've been dropped Tuesday. I remember doing it. If he wasnt removed from your lineup, you should've emailed me or posted to let me know....

Nah, thats alright....by the time i realised he was still there, i dont think the player i would have picked up would have cleared waivers by this weeks game, and thats all i needed him for.
I probably did see your posts, but didnt really register (i barely read the poster, just the post), just didnt really notice you that much on Aim.
