0 Subject: Royal Rumble - Main Event Points

A small scoring issue may arise for the Royal Rumble so its time to address it in advance. So cast your vote soon.

(Typically the Main Event of a PPV is worth 20 points)

1. If the Royal Rumble is the last match of the PPV should each of the 30 participants get 20 points each? (Remember, they get their 12 PPV appearance points anyway)

(if you answered yes ignore the rest)

2. If you answered no to #1, should anyone in the Rumble get Main Event points?

3. Should Main Event points go to the match that is directly before the Rumble?

4. If you answered yes to #2, who should get the Main Event points? Last 2? Last 5? Last 10? (Please feel free to choose your own # for wrestlers remaining)

Once we get some feedback, especially to #4, we can tweak the proposal. Let's act fast so its ready by Sunday.

Item #1 is actually mistaken. They are not given 12 PPV points. Here is the formula:

Elimination rank (winning = 50)
- (minus) Entrance rank
+ (plus) # of wrestlers eliminated
+ (plus) 25 points

But don't let that make you think that Farn's concerns here are unfounded.

The minimum any participant can get is 10 points. In order to get that few points, the value of your (elimination rank) - (entrance rank) + (number eliminated) would have to be less than '-15'.

Put another way, someone who entered the Rumble as the 25th participant would have to manage to be only the 10th or earlier wrestler eliminated.

The maximum points? Well, Puder is the 1st entrant. If he wins, thats 74 points + the number of wrestlers he manages to eliminate, probably at least 80 points for someone who is in it for the whole shabang.

I don't see the point of bringing the minimum up to 30 points, which is what we will do if we award ME points to all of the Rumble participants.

So my answer to #1 is no.

#2: No.

#3: Sounds reasonable, though I am open to other ideas if anyone has any.

#4: n/a

I'm guessing they'll probably do the Rumble 2nd to last and have one of the title matches last.

I think that if there is a match after the Rumble, all this is moot anyway and the last match will be the ME, like it always would.

Last year the Rumble was the last match and since our scoring system didn't address the issue, we scored it as the main event.

2. Yes, if there are no matches after it.
3. No
4. Last 5

Would be nice if the other managers would vote or else we might have a problem come Sunday night.

1. NO
2. YES

2.Yes, if it's the last match
3. No
4. Usually you will see a break in the action when there is 4 to 8 wrestlers left. I believe that is when the Main event points should be given. If there is no such break, lets say, if Batista just continues to throw people out of the ring as they come in, the final 4 should get points.

Tree, Mike D and Bond have yet to vote.

So far:

7 of 7 agree that 30 Rumble participants should not get ME points.

5 of 7 agree that ME points should go to some Rumble participants, if it is the last match.

The same 5 agree that ME points should not be awarded to the match before the Rumble, assuming the Rumble is the last match.

The last question has varied responses.

I know its unlikely but I hate the prospect of something like the #28 entrant coming out and and getting tossed after a couple of minutes and that person getting ME points over an early entrant who fought through the first 45 min of the Rumble and got eliminated with 7 remaining in the ring.

we seem to have a decent number of replies for the Final 4 to get points.

Should we try to get a quick vote on making it the final 4? We have 4 who have said Final 4 is what they want. I said 5 but Final 4 is fine with me. So we have 5 total. We need one more final 4 vote to make that part the rule.

If Tree and Bond vote we have a chance to solidify this before the PPV tonight.

Aw crap.
I'll change and say final 4 should get ME points.

That gives us enough in case the other two don't vote.

yeah, I already said yes... think the Final Four has a nice ring to it.

Although Kev was 100% right when he said there is a break action in the with about 4-6 guys left and they all stare at each other, take a breath and then they really get going like all other stuff was just a warmup. But it will be too open to interpretation so if we just stick with 4 that should be about right.

So what should we do? This wasn't an official vote but it made clear that the majority of the league doesn't want ME points given to 30 guys. The mst popular solution was to give it to the last 4, with 6 people choosing to go that route. I suspect that if we had a vote, this is what we would have come up with.

Entrance and elimination ranks and numbers eliminated were found at Lords of Pain

Notes

These don't include any ME points. We'll have to decide what to do about that.
I gave a full point to any wrestlers who eliminated someoen with help. For example, Cena and Batista each got a full point for eliminating Edge.
I din't give elim. points to anyone for eliminating Hassan, since it was a group effort by 8 guys.
I didn't give elim. points to anyone who eiminated anyone after they themselves were eliminated. This happened twice, when Hassan did it to Scotty and when Angle did it to HBK.

Might be interesting to include an "eliminated by" column in that table.

Sorry guys for my silence of late. I had to make a family emergency trip to Illinois on Friday and I just arrived back a couple of hours ago. No internet access where I was.

If my vote is needed let me know; if not, that's okay too. Sorry if I caused any inconvenience.

its fine with me.

MITH, I learned long ago that getting this group to be motivated and vote for stuff is impossible. Hell, we can't even finalize the trading deadline. It takes an act of God to get these people to agree to anything. (or vote for that matter).

The trade deadline is set at 4 weeks before the last roster freeze of the season, isn't it?

WM is April 3rd. So 4 weeks before that is Monday, March 7th. Not sure when the No Way Out PPV is. If it happens to be March 6th, then that's the deadline. In any case, its the roster freeze for that week.

i don't think we ever formally approved the deadline. it was discussed as the last PPV before WM. and then somebody asked if it was ok to make it the week after. But we never formally voted on that.
