"good" friend?!! lol...
actually a pretty good PPV I thought... that Rey/Eddie match was VERY very good... Shawn really pulled Hogan through their match well, and Y2J really helped Cena too.
Kind of ironic that the two guys who got carried through their matches and who pretty much only kick and punch are the two guys that also do the VH1 video countdown and Teen Choice Awards. I guess it IS all about personality lol...

Anyone else think Hogan was supposed to get busted open from the ringpost and then it didn't work - so then Shawn had to legit bust his head open with his fist in the corner? Those repeated punches looked different then your normal punch, like he was trying to pop his head open... and once it did, man did Hogan lose ALOT of blood.
And speaking of losing lots of blood - Hardy was a bloody mess and that cut looked gross. But I actually thought thats the way that match needed to go - more like a boxing match or brawl then a wrestling match.
Off to work...

I win! :)
I was pretty surprised at how many of us took HBK....he was my 'upset' pick. I couldn't imagine Hogan going out on the losing end....of course he's had 5 "last matches" the past few years, so who the f*** knows when it's really the last match.
Looks like it was a good PPV that really tied up some storylines. Now we have SD! heels to go after Benoit, who will actually defend the belt (go Captain Charisma!). A Benoit vs. Eddie angle wouldn't suck. Orton can step up to start a Batista feud, perhaps using some old "Evolution" angles to bring some heat - i.e. "I carried you in our stable, now I'll show you" blah blah.
Does HBK get the next Cena feud?

(go Captain Charisma!).
who?
apparently, the WWE has pulled all CC related merch, and is no longer going to refer to him as CC.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm............why? I thought it was cool and hilarious, and worked right into his character.
Guess I need to change my WWE Fantasy Team name.

From ESPN's Page 2 - dude wrote an article with his "Diary" of watching Summerslam - fairly comical. I guess this dude used to be a wrestling fan back in the 80's/early 90's like many of us Generation-Xers, but hadn't watched it in a whlie. I found this funny:
"At least JBL is doing some sort of rich Texan gimmick -- he's like a cross between JR Ewing and Ted DiBiase -- and I could swear he's the same guy who used to be Bradshaw a few years ago. Is that possible? I love when wrestlers switch gimmicks midcareer -- the best ever happened when Dr. Isaac Yankem (an evil dentist) somehow became Kane (Undertaker's disfigured brother). Nobody even batted an eyelash. That's wrestling."
I missed Dr. Yankem. Anyone else remember this and has any details?

Dr. I Yankem was feuding with Jerry Lawler. eventually, Glen Jacobs, who played Yankem, became Kane.
it wasn't like a switch in the story line as Bill Simmons suggests.
Simmons, by the way, was my boss years ago when i was a moderator on AOL.

Simmons used to write about wrestling all the time. Every PPV he'd do a running diary. Even Vengeance. But he hasn't written about it in a long time (and meanwhile he became an even bigger star). I blame him for the fact they never had the need for a wrestling producer at ESPN.com. We would have outdone TSN.
Actually, I think the Bradshaw -> JBL transition is the best change of face the WWE has ever had. He's actually a great heel and has added quite a bit to WWE programming. I remember thinking exactly that on the day he re-introduced himself.

First off Tree, the fact Simmons was your boss is good times.
Secondly, I hate to correct you, but Yankem was managed/controlled/whatever by Lawler, and used against Bret Hart.

Kev - indeed Bill was, and had a bit of a rebellious streak back then. back then, the main discussion area in AOL was called the Grandstand. then they suddently started implementing some insane rules, Bill, who ran the SportsGuy area, so an opportunity, and him, myself, and a few others set up a new discussion area on AOL with fewer rules. much fun was had.
and yes, you are correct about Lawler. i do believe the feud was involved in the Lawler/Hart kiss my foot match or something...
