blah blah blah...
- Carlito double crosses Masters, and ELIMINATED Masters.
- Cena rolls up Carlito and ELIMINATED him to win the match.

* McMahon comes out, and tells them to lift the elimination chamber, and announces that Edge is cashing in on his money in the bank title match.

(8) Cena vs. Edge. A bloodied Cena kicks out of a spear to the disbelief of Edge. A second spear, Edge pins Cena and wins the WWE title at just under 2 minutes.

Good PPV for me ... wins for Ashley, Shelton (and his mama) and Edge. Yeah, I should have a firm lock on 5th place now. : )

I thought Edge was hurt? Oh yeah, when you are hurt they just put MORE gold on you, I forgot lol...

It was a pretty good PPV.

Cena was getting booed by more than half the crowd. They needed to take that belt from him. The place felt like it was going to riot when he won the Chamber. And then Vince appeared and announced Edge and the place erupted in full cheers for Edge. He could have announced Hitler challenging for the belt and drawn a huge ovation. The roof came off on the 3 count.

The Lawler/Helms and Benjamin/Viscera matches drew no applause. The rest was a pretty good card.

I'm interested in ya'll's thoughts regarding Edge's "Money in the Bank" run up to this point and consequential WWE happenings.

It seems to me that VKM was waiting for the right opportunity to put the title on Edge (it would have been quite silly for this angle to go on for these many months and him NOT win the title), and the recent disenchantments towards Cena--especially this past Raw--was exactly what VKM needed. Couldn't have Edge done this at any number of other PPV's? Of course so. Please don't tell me that THIS was how it was planned all along. I'm of the persuasion that most, ahem, "creative" writings by the PTB's (powers-that-be) are all pretty loosely scripted to a schedule of hardly more than a two to three week outlook, if that. Wouldn't it be simpler for them to start at next year's Wrestlemania, for instance, and then script each week backward in time and change it only for injuries and whatnot? Right now this herky-jerky reaction of storylines is incredibly frustrating and asinine IMHO.

Furthermore, since the PTB's now have a somewhat injured Edge as their champion, will he have to defend the belt anytime soon? And if he does, certainly he will have to drop it before Wrestlemania. Thus if Edge is to drop the title really, really soon to whom does he drop it? Cena? Perhaps. HBK? Maybe. Show? God no! My vote would go to Flair. Make him the title holder of both the WWE title and the Intercontinental belts. That way he only has to defend the WWE title as often as does the other---almost never! Works for me. ;)

But a major problem now is that VBK almost HAS to turn Cena heel and if he does that then someone that is currently a heel has to turn face right? Angle would be the obvious one but he is such a horrible face, I'd really hate to see them do that. With Wrestlemania just a few short weeks away, what can we look forward to?

Definitely agree with you Bond that it seems that things are being run almost on a week to week basis at this point. But I think it could be from the unreal series of luck the WWE seems to be having with its superstars (which also seems to be more of an indication that their schedule is too demanding). During this "season" (for us) the WWE has been losing a major star almost weekily ... Eddie (RIP), Edge, Batista, Christian (their fault), Kennedy, Booker T, Angle (supposedly is injured) plus Orton, HHH and the Undertaker have just come back from injuries. Add to that Flair's trouble, Jericho taking a break, Juvy's cut and then reports saying that Kid Kash was injured within the last week. Tough to book with those kind of losses. (That's a big list, and I doubt I remembered it all)

As to Edge's MITB, my guess was that it probably was always going to be used in this fashion. As a heel it would make sense for him to cash it in after a PPV match and allow him to take the belt in a "cheap" way. Although I now wonder how they are going to handle the huge pop he got. I think his earlier match with Flair was almost a test to see if he was ready to carry the title (ie be able to wrestle again).

And there is no doubt something had to been done about Cena carrying the belt. The boos have been growing for weeks, no matter who he was matched with it. I see a heel turn for Cena before Wrestlemania. I doubt, and hope ; ), that Edge will not lose the belt on RAW but I will also be surprised if he carries it to Wrestlemania.

Vinnie Mac has some talented wrestlers in the wings and it's time he starts working more of them in to the picture. They can only get better in the spot light.

Too verbose for my own good ...

I doubt that Edge will lose the title on RAW (I'm hoping that he doesn't).

Stop judging me, its 2 in the morning, so what if I can't type. : )

Best line so far:

He could have announced Hitler challenging for the belt and drawn a huge ovation.

Farn, I'd love to get a more in-depth writeup of the PPV - the electricity, the puppies, everything.

Sure seems like using Edge's MITB shot to get the belt off of Cena was a desperation move - undoubtedly fueled by the boos for Cena. I agree that a Cena heel turn is warranted (and has been needed for him for a while), and hopefully he can go back to cutting some good raps or something.

It also seems like RAW is well short of faces. Who can turn? Carlito maybe and battle Masters? You sure see a lot of Carlito apple shirts in the crowds. Who does Edge battle? HBK with Vince screwing him over and over and Edge cheaply keeping the title?

I suppose injuries make these guys scramble, but I don't see why you can't lay out a long program leading up to these PPV's. They did it with Mickie and Trish, they did it with Batista's long burn vs. HHH. It just can't be THAT hard to figure out what to do with someone and put a program together.

(here comes a very long review)

Carlito could definately turn face. There are a ton of Carlito shirts and wigs in the crowd. He and Angle both received a decent pop considering their current roles.

Let's see, NYR opened with Flair vs. Edge. The ending was definately booed because it came out of nowhere really and the DQ ending had everyone puzzled. So we then assumed that this feud would continue into the Rumble.

Angle's interview came next and when he said he'd like to make Jesus tap out the place was laughing hysterically. And he was right: no matter what he says he will still have people cheering him. Obviously there was the "You Suck" chants and the boos but he still has fans, including me who wanted to see anyone but Cena.

There were a few blown spots in the Trish/Mickie match but these 2 plus Victoria have proven to be the only real wrestling talent in the women's division so far. Mickie's title reign is coming soon but not last night. Both had their share of crowd support as well. No real heel. Definately leaves room for a Trish turn and then a Mickie win.

Outside of the King's entrance the Lawler/Helms match drew absolutely no response. The crowd was dead. Many went for beer or food and the rest just talked among themselves. Nobody cared. And letting Lawler win effectively finishes off Helms from having any career. Not really sure why you'd put Lawler over a young wrestler. Lawler could have easily done the job and helped this kid get a new persona going. Once again WWE missed a chance to help a young guy make a name.

Shelton's mamma is also boring the crowd. Its a lame gimmick and he predictably won. Also, when they kept zooming in on his mamma during the match for her impromptu "interview" at ringside they had to cue her with hand motions and such for her to know she was on. It was incredibly contrived and horribly done from a live perspective. Let's hope Shelton gets rolling in the win column and this horrible actress and gimmick gets dumped fast.

HHH/Big Show both received a good pop. By the way, Show is probably 6'8" at most but he is every bit the 400-500 pounds. And his hands really are like catcher's mitts. Anyway, the cast breaking and coming off looked to be an accident. It really did just fall apart like paper. Whether it was intended to who knows. But the chair shot to his hand was covered nicely with tv angles. He never got near that hand but you wouldn't know it by TV. HHH is still over as a heel with a good pop considering and its only a matter of time before the father-to-be regains the belt. My guess is he finds his way to Edge soon but who knows.

The Bra and Panties match had a fair reception. The Moolah/Mae angle actually received a small pop. And then it took far too long and people got bored real fast. Mae not being able to tear Victoria's shirt off came off even worse in person than on TV if that's possible. Ashley winning might not be a bad idea if they intend to put her in a decent program. She still falls behind Trish, Victoria, and Mickie in the talent area but she has a pretty face, energy, and draws good crowd reaction.

The main event featured 2 categories of people, both of which were equal: Cena haters who want anyone not named Cena to win and Cena lovers (mostly girls and young kids) who would choose Cena over their mother. The Cena sucks chants were very loud during the main event and if anyone did anything against him they got louder. Carlito drew a nice ovation when he entered and attacked Cena. Masters didn't draw much reaction. The next big reaction came when HBK hit Angle with the Super Kick to eliminate him. The crowd was stunned. At that point everyone was convinced Cena was going to win again and the boos began to rain down even heavier.

Next to go was HBK. Crowd stunned again. This left only Cena to really carry the belt, thus making the rest of the match nothing more than a bore. There were some good spots and tough bumps but knowing who the winner could be kept the crowd from staying hot. As much as we prayed for Carlito or Masters we knew better. And then Cena gets the win at 1030 and the crowd can't believe its ended early, thus adding even more boos. Vince appearing had people thinking we'd get some sort of screwjob, and thank god we did. He announced Edge and the place went crazy, praying for a win over Cena. And with the quick fall the place erupted. It was filled with people who just wanted anybody but Cena to win. Edge isn't a face, but he isn't Cena so that was enough.

Place emptied out. Couple friends and I tried to get the chairs at ringside that people didn't take home but we were shot down. Was hoping to get one to match my No Mercy 2000 chair but no dice. Oh well.

Not bad. Not as good as I could've written it, but not bad ;-)

Thanks Farn. Cool to get more of the in-crowd reaction.

ya know, surprisingly there were a decent amount of good looking girls in the crowd. obviously there were some real Moolah's too but thre were a few decent looking girls.

Beers were $4.50 for a plastic bottle. I had a "few". Bud Light, Coors Lite, and Miller Lite were all available. Hot dogs were boiled and didn't appear worth the $4.

This was the first PPV I'd seen since Royal Rumble 2005 (thanks ESPheN), and it was pretty darn good. More womens' wrestling than I've ever seen in a PPV - a full match plus a gauntlet match.

Mickie vs. Trish has been building well, but I would have help off on a match, perhaps until Wrestlemania. WWE always goes too fast with stuff like that.

I LOVE the idea of Edge cashing in. Any sooner would have been too soon, any later would have been too late. This sets up Edge vs. Cena as the main event at Wrestlemania (worthy, generally), but they'll probably blow it by having them meet before.

I heard the first Rock->TNA rumors up in Connecticut. I don't think it'll ever happen, but if it did, would you still watch WWE?

bh - Cena is cashing in his "rematch clause", and demanded a rematch on RAW last night. Lita interrupted him and said due to some "oral persuasion" Mr. McMahon has "postponed" the rematch until the Royal Rumble later this month.

Shame on everyone, including Cena, for assuming "oral persuasion" meant something naughty! That could have been nothing more than a simple discussion ;-)

New Year's Revolution has been scored. The spreadsheet has been sent to Mike D for him to tweak.

Do not score it again.
