0 Subject: Thinking ahead to Season VII

Posted by: Species
- Leader [07724916] Mon, Mar 27, 2006, 17:13

I will do what I can, but if someone has recollection or finds it in our history faster than I do, we need to start to get our ducks in a row for Season VII. Such as:

- Waiver deadline for Season VI. Do we have one? I saw one reference to a proposal to have it be before the final week's roster freeze....but did we enact this? This is key as I do plan on burning my priority eventually, and have someone in mind if someone better doesn't come along.

- Next year's schedule. From last year, we had this:

SEASON IV
Week 32 Wrestlemania 04/03/05
TWO WEEKS OFF TWO WEEKS OFF
SEASON V
Week 1 Sunday 04/24/05
Week 2 Backlash 05/01/05
Week 5 Judgement Day 05/22/05
Week 10 Vengeance 06/26/05
Week 14 Great American Bash 07/24/05
Week 18 Summerslam 8/21/05
Week 22 Unforgiven 09/18/05
Week 25 No Mercy 10/09/05
TWO WEEKS OFF TWO WEEKS OFF
SEASON VI
Week 1 (begins Sun 10/30) Taboo Tuesday 11/01/05
Week 5 Survivor Series 11/27/05
Week 9 Armegeddon 12/18/05
Week 12 New Year's Revolution 01/08/06
Week 15 Royal Rumble 01/29/06
Week 18 No Way Out 02/19/06
Week 21 - 24 Wrestlemania 03/12/06 - 04/02/06

This has worked to perfection. Even seasons, even number of SD vs. RAW PPV's, etc. Anyone got a full year's PPV season handy? Assuming there isn't a significant schedule change, I'd certainly endorse a duplication of this format.

- Is everyone returning? I will be.

- Any other issues, rule changes, etc that anyone can think of.

It's never too early to start :)

I may be mistaken but I don't think WWE announces PPVS too far in advance. The only ones formally announced on the site are these two.

Backlash 4/30
ECW One Night Stand 6/11

Anyway, I'll be ready for season 7 (and the #1 pick).

As for PPVs I think all we can do is say "Season ends in (fill in month) the night of the PPV. Then we take 2 weeks to organize and start fresh."

I think last waivers were just 24 hours before the last roster freeze, no? That would be by Saturday April 1st at 7 PM. (Wrestlemania, Sunday at 8 PM).

Just want it to be noted I will not be around from April 9th until Wednesday morning on April 12th. Granted thats only a couple days after the season ends and I don't think we'll be drafting then, but ya never know with how quick we are sometimes.
(I will be in Boston for their home opener against the Blue Jays)

Re: Farn - What about something to the effect of, Season 7 begins 4/23/06 and concludes after 7 PPV's - or something to that effect.

GO - I will try to look a bit more later, but I think you had suggested that waiver period deadline as an official rule, but I'm not sure we enacted it. i.e. - didn't we get Mickie James for Bond shortly before WM?

If there is going to be a deadline for waiver pickups this season, we need to iron it out to be fair to everyone.

Count me in for Season VII! Ya'll did get Mickie for me but it wasn't before WM. It was during Katrina's debacle.

By the way, I'm thinking of changing my moniker. Would that be a problem with anybody?

alright, I found these on a different site. No promise they are 100% accurate but they should really help. And the brand affiliation isn't a lock either but I think it should fall that way. (Cyber Sunday replaces Taboo Tuesday I believe.)

Alright, so this season ends with Friday April 7th's Smackdown. So the new season start Monday April 24th?

So the keeper deadline would be? Midnight after RAW April 10th? Or maybe we wait til Wednesday April 13th so we can read the spoilers for Smackdown if we choose to for final decision making?

Waiver Claim Deadline Vote
24 Hours before last roster freeze of season (even if its #1 waiver, techinally the claim opens a 24 hour window). If its a PPV week, that would be Saturday at 7 PM. If its a non PPV week, that would be Sunday at 7 PM. Vote - Yes

Also, Species claim of Jericho should be grandfathered in since we never made any official ruling.
Vote - Yes

Time to discuss scheduling. In the past we've run through No Mercy and it appears we can do that again.

So......

Season VII
Backlash 4/30 (Raw)
Judgement Day 5/21 (Smackdown)
ECW One Night Stand 6/11
Vengeance 6/25 (Raw)
Great American Bash 7/23 (Smackdown)
Summerslam 8/27
Unforgiven 9/17 (Raw)
No Mercy 10/8 (Smackdown)

After the Friday (or whatever day it airs) airing of Smackdown on 10/13 the Season is over. We take 2 weeks to redraft and reorganize and Season 8 starts on 10/29. We could move that up a week if need be but this is a safer move. Season 8 would then run through Wrestlemania.

Also, it appears as though scoring ECW One Night Stand will probably include WWE stars in matches. It also would give a 2nd combined Raw/Smackdown PPV to go with 2 for each individual show. So I'd suggest scoring that as well. Might add a fun twist if people want to pick up ECW stars and risk dumping their own guys to score quick PPV points.

There are 2 votes to cast below

1. Yes or No on the above season scheduling.
2. Yes or No on ECW One Night Stand counted in our scoring?

FWIW, the WWE Fantasy League, which we've used as a basis for other thoughts, is not counting Saturday Night's Main Event *or* the ECW PPV in their scoring.

Farn needs to make his vote for scheduling as he outlined in Post 15. The vote is currently 5-4 for NOT scoring the ECW PPV. Of course, if he votes yes, then we're poop-screwed - lol.
