0 Subject: The Freebird Rule - how to score it?

something we need to think about. it wouldn't stun me to see the Spirit Squad use the Freebird Rule when they defend the belt.

so, who gets title defense points? the guys who won the belt, or the guys defending the belts they never won?

Ugghhhhh.
My gut instinct would be the guys who won the belts.

But, that said, the right answer is probably the guys defending the belts.

Heck, I'm confused and don't know.

I believe whoever participates in the particular match gets the points. How else can you do it?

but how can you defend a belt you didn't win?

seems that they should get the match points, but the champions should get the title defense points, no?

this is gonna be a pain in the ass.

my initial reaction would be to award all points to those who are wrestling in the match. there are currently 2 guys who don't even wrestle (i'm pretty sure neither has had a match on tv). But those belts were won by the 5 and based on the setup it appears that will be a weekly gig. The two who officially wrestled last night weren't really all that more valuable than the other 3. It was a group effort.

So I guess I'd say give all the points to whoever wrestles that match. You can't give them all defense points, you can't give defense points to someone who isn't officially in a match (unless you give it to all 5 which is a bit much), and you can't not give defense points to the 2 guys who technically "defended" the belts in the match.

The only one that hasn't had an actual match is Mitch (Nick Mitchell) cause he has an injured knee. Other 4 have all been in matches (twice we had 4 on 1 matches vs. Shawn)... looks to me that Ken/Mike are gonna be a duo and Johnny/Nicky are gonna be a duo.

What did we do with Demolition? is there a precedent? :)

I'd say its gotta only be the ones in the actual match unfortunately. Was Booker getting title defense points when Orton defended his title?

Not just did Booker T get defense points when Orton defended the title, but didn't he also get the title win points at the end of the best of seven with Benoit.

Following that I would have to say that the defense points go to those who won the belt but the match points would go to those that are wrestling...

I think its different though. There was no chance Orton could have ever had the belt. Only Booker or Benoit. In the Spirit Squad's case if they do it this way that means that each guy is a champion in some sense. So each could be eligible for points.

Should we wait and see how wwe.com scores it since they will have to? We have 2 weeks from this Monday before the next season starts.

We may not have that luxury Farn. I believe WWE.com's season also ended at WM22. Last time they took a break it was several weeks (or more?) before they started up again.

I still say the only reasonable way to do it is to give defense points to the 2 Squad members who actually wrestle.

BTW - I think it's a cool move by WWE, even if it is a recycling of an old idea.

Agreed, can always give interference points where necessary as well.
