I'm sorry for wasting anyone's time... but I was just wondering since there are so many huge wrestling fans here, if anyone played Smackdown Vs Raw 2006?

Yes - I enjoy the game a lot, although I was VERY disappointed that the roster was not up-to-date. MNM was not included, amongst other stars who had prime roles. It wasn't like MNM came out of nowhere 6 months before the game - they were already Tag Team Champs.

I know GO plays it. We even talked about trying to set up an online meeting (although I don't have the online adapter for my PS2, although I do for regular Xbox) and show off our created wrestlers. I had never customized my own entrance before, so that was a lot of fun (I assume that feature has been on there before).

I haven't toyed with GM mode as much as the story modes, but considering many of us here think we could book WWE better than they, GM mode was pretty cool too.

Sweet, thanks for the response Species.

I love it. I don't really fool around with the season mode or GM mode though... only at the beginning to make sure I unlock everything. Really what I enjoy most is creating legends (besides the ones in the game - I really liked the set that was included with this one though) and pit them against today's guys... mostly I just let the computer go at it (Geeky, I know)

I don't have an online adapter either, but I might be willing to try and get one. I have about 20 CAWS but they are average to ok. I'd really like to find someone that is good at it and actually pay them to fill out a memory card for me of nicely put together created guys (including movesets and entrances to their best abilities)

Also, I am VERY interested in the legends for the upcoming november release of SVR 2007. The regular roster should be pretty good (Kennedy, Finlay, Nitro etc) but I'm not turning in my 06 game until the legends are comparable. If you hear anything about the roster for the new game, please let me know.

I digress.

Traded it back in waiting on the new one...

No Mercy for N64 STILL gets played though. Its amazing they can't make a game to match it.

I can forgive missing Jeff Hardy on the roster since he literally only signed a month or so ago. These games do need a fair amount of leadtime although I was shocked at how sparse the S vs. Raw 06 roster was considering how important some guys had at the time (i.e. MNM).

The ECW roster is also an interesting quandry. It was probably too late to incorporate it, but then again maybe there could be ECW modes thrown in there that we don't know about.

I'm very much looking forward to the game. I have both PS2 and Xbox (no 360). Does anyone else have Xbox, as I do have an Xbox live account. I'm hesitant to buy it for PS2 since I'm sure I'll buy a PS3.....

I do have a PS2, but I've mostly gone to the PSP only, for it's easy access and portability. I will be getting SVR 07 on PSP.

I can have matches in the bathroom at work!

I always made the ECDub guys. Loved making RVD and giving him tons of aerial moves and spin kicks. Same with Sabu. Would always make Shane Douglas, Dreamer, Sandman. And the occasional Storm or Credible.

when the PS3 comes out at its silly price, i'm thinking the PSP will drop in price, and i'll get one. all i need is madden, a good wrestling game, a good shoot 'em up game, and maybe one or two sports games, and i'm a happy clam.

are the games for the PSP strong, particularly madden, and a wrestling game?

I'm exactly the same way Tree... for real games (ex. Oblivion) I just use my PC... for ps2 type games all I want is Madden, Wrestling and a Hockey game. There is a little getting use to with the controls (not too much) but other than that its money. I have enjoyed it. You can see a definitely graphics difference from Wrestling on PS2 to wrestling on PSP though. Less crowd, little things like that. Thats for loading/memory purposes, I would imagine. The wrestling itself is still good and the wrestlers look almost the same.

Bam Bam Bigelow??

Actually, the build up to this guy had to be amongst the largest ever. I remember all of the managers at the time - guys like "Slick", Mr. Fuji, Heenan, Jimmy Hart, etc etc (who am I forgetting) all wanted to manage him, and it had to be a 2-3 month long buildup......all to see a 'man of that size' do cartwheels! lmao

I love that Mr. Perfect is on there though. Loved that character and Hennig could wrestle.

I forgot about the cartwheels - thats hilarious.

And of course CM Punk isn't in this (or any ECW guys)... finally, by next year we won't have to make a fake Punk... Tree!

TNA is supposedly coming out with a video game in Spring of 2007 produced by Midway. I think it would be huge for the company for that game to be great - because even non-wrestling fans would play it and identify with the characters and names and ring etc. Thats good for business.

I remember (non-wrestling fan) friends of mine playing WCW/NWO Revenge and learning all the guys they'd never heard of and then if they were on TV they'd actually stop and watch a bit.

That is a great point, Great One. I am one of those people too. (kinda) I watched wrestling a ton when I was a kid but I actually missed all that hyped up WCW mid 90's stuff. When the very first Smackdown game came out for the playstation 1 I got it and loved it... before I knew it I was watching wrestling again to see who I should make in the game... and now look at me, I'm in a fantasy WWE league. lol!

Great - SVR2007 is NOT available on regular old Xbox! As Tree noted I'm not too keen on dropping 6 bills on a PS3. I can trade in the old XBox and get $80.00 credit on an Xbox 360......

Any recommendations? I really liked the idea of doing some RWF get-togethers online. Anyone else have the 360 and plan on having SVR 2007?

It was built for Ps2 and thats what I would recommend it on anyway. I'm not saying it won't look sick on XBox 360, but like you said... stuff like that is expensive. I have it for PSP and Ps2. (Don't ask why)

Actually I just opened the package 5 min ago... I'm looking at it right now :) I will probably give it a go after ECW tonight. I didn't have RWF get togethers in mind but I did have some thoughts on doing RWF 3 man tag team matchs... Like everyone's top 3 scorers (excluding divas/managers) would be their team and I could do 6 man tag matches and keep the results/standings on the side. lol.

Hell, we kept stats in our backyard wiffle-ball leagues, so why the hell not?! Though my greatest seasons were with the electrical-taped up wiffle bat w/ a tennis ball combination.

Except CM Punk isn't in this game which sucks.

Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 due Nov 2007 ... Adds ECW guys in CM PUNK (!) Elijah Burke, Marcus Cor Von, Tommy Dreamer and Sandman. Also adds MVP & Cryme Tyme. New Legends this year: Terry Funk and RAVISHING RICK RUDE.

and how about this news?

So the latest rumor that's got wrestling fans in a tizzy is that THQ is going to bring back WWF No Mercy for the N64, widely regarded as the best American wrestling game of all time, for the Wii via a WiiWare service with updated rosters.

Courtesy of www.wrestlinggamers.com, the below is an exclusive interview with one of the makers of the upcoming TNA/Midway "iMPACT!" video game, coming this summer!

In the interview, Turmell talks at length about the making of the game as well as some exclusive details:

1. Even though "TNA Impact" is the first TNA videogame, what are your expectations from the game?

Mark: We are extremely excited about this game, and let me tell you why. TNA has so many elements that make great gameplay. Competitive head to head multiplayer action, move sets that are easy to pick up but rich with new moves and moments to discover, quick responsive controls, and great animations which make the players wince with pain and laugh at their outrageousness. When combining that with stunning next gen visuals, robust sounds; music and commentary, the unique nature of the 6 sided ring and growing popularity of TNA Wrestling, and you can see why we have strong expectations for TNA Impact the videogame.

2. It was announced that the season mode in "TNA Impact" will be based on a created wrestler, how will the season mode work? in terms of storylines, how much "freedom" will the player get?

Mark: Yes, the Create a Wrestler mode is at the heart of our story mode. Instead of doing a standard Season Mode, we chose to tell a story about the inner workings and power struggle within TNA. The Story Mode begins with a man who's been beaten to the edge of death, had his body dumped in Tijuana Mexico, and awakes in a Plastic Surgeons office not knowing who he is or how he got there. From there the player must re-establish his identity, recover his memories, and fight back to gain was rightfully his in TNA. The player has many choices as he creates his wrestler, expands his move set, and attempts to become a TNA Champion.

3. The game is scheduled to be released on all next-generation consoles; even with the better graphics don't you think that having only 4 wrestlers on screen at once isn't enough?

Mark: Given that this is our first TNA wrestling game, we wanted to focus on the match types and elements that get the majority of play and interest. So we opted to have our art team create incredible next-gen visuals by limiting the on screen wrestlers to 4. This still provides us with a wide array of matches and play style, and give us room to grow too!

4. Ultimate X and King of the mountain matches are scheduled to appear in the game, can you give us more details about these matches implanted into the game?

Mark: Yes, we do have a variety of matches in the game, and Ultimate X is unique to wrestling video games. The players must climb up onto ropes which are suspended above the ring, fight off their opponents, and attempt to untie the X which is dangling at the center of the ring. Players can attack from the X ropes down to the ring, to others on the ropes, and of course players in the ring or on the turnbuckles can attack opponents on the X ropes. Ultimate X matches are part of the
Story Mode as well as matches you can play in VS Mode.

5. Wrestling and nostalgia goes well together, what are the chances of seeing classic models like Kevin Nash, Blonde hair Sting, and even Classic Raven?

Mark: I'd say the chances are very high! While we do have a robust roster and several surprises in the shipping title, we also support downloadable content such as new wrestlers. We are always listening to the wrestling fans and trying to provide what they are looking for.

6. Online content is considered to be a very important feature in the world of videogames, will we see an online e-fed in the game?

Mark: Not in TNA Impact. While we enjoy watching the E-fed community and aspire to add such features in our products, it's just too early for us to focus on that. It's been a ton of work just getting players to fight head to head in a crisp and fair fashion! So we agree that on-line is critical, we believe we are providing enough content and enough leaderboards to satisfy the players of our first TNA title.

7. Many moves are being captured by the animation team, what are the chances of seeing popular moves that aren't associated with TNA wrestlers, moves like the pedigree, "Sweet chin music", F-5 and the Jackhammer?

Mark: While we did capture the moves of our TNA talent, it is safe to say that we went overboard and captured even more moves. Including the 3 you reference! We are still actively putting in moves and applying them to the appropriate wrestlers and situations, so you'll have to wait until the game ships to see who/what/when!

8. It is not secret that "TNA Impact" is scheduled to compete with THQ's highly popular "Smackdown Vs Raw" series, any thoughts about the comparison between the two games at this level?

Mark: Well, we have great respect for the WWE titles and can readily acknowledge the huge fan base, breadth of features, and excellent ring entrances. They are a strong force with 10+ years of constant development. However, we are not big fans of the moment to moment gameplay that the Smackdown Vs Raw games provide. Controller responsiveness and crispness is just not there. And we believe that is a key component of fun gameplay. So we've focused on that and are happy with our direction. It's more similar to the old N64 No Mercy game than anything else. So from a feature standpoint, our first TNA Impact videogame will not match up against Smackdown Vs Raw, but from a gameplay and in-ring entertainment standpoint we will shine. Competition is great for videogames, and I suspect our TNA Impact game will have an effect on future WWE titles.

9. Since there won't be any referee in the game, how will the weapons usage work, usually in a wrestling game the player has to distract the referee in order to use a weapon?

Mark: We took a fairly simple approach to this, and allow a weapon to be used only in specific match types, and limit the weapon to a number of strikes before it's broken. Actually, that is all very similar to the WWE game.

10. Last but not least, when will we see a wrestling game for the pc?

Mark: Well, if you come into our offices you'd see a version of TNA Impact running on PC! The PC is a different animal, and we love it, but it's up to the marketing folks to figure that out!

hahaha ... dang this thread is getting dated (forever labeled Ps2 games) hehe.

That was awesome, I really enjoyed the actual wrestler's commentary. AJ when he lost, saying, "The guy playing as me left! he left!" ... That was money.

As far as the game itself, definitely looks awesome, great graphics (thank you next generation consoles) ... but no refs? Computer count in the middle of the screen? Wow that goes back to Smackdown 1 levels on Ps2.

This game is on my radar, especially since you guys know I love the old school WWF wrestlers. It's not to be confused with the Legends of Wrestling that was out for awhile ... this is being made by the same guys that make Smackdown Vs Raw. Unfortunately, Vince has a big hand in it and has already pulled Savage and of course Foley from the game.
