0 Subject: Season IX Planning

Alright we need to have a formal vote, all ten people on the following issues. I also offer to score ECW and provide heads up on taping date details in the weekly roster threads, see bottom to for explanation.

1. Add ECW to the scoring?
2. Roster expansion of 1 slot, 1 starter (and draft by 1 round) or maintain current numbers?
3. Expansion of keepers for Season X and beyond?
4. Lower the value of the belt on par with the Intercontinental/US Belt?
5. Maximum of 1 add/drop per week?

Footnote to the situation regarding tapings that occur the week beforehand. This is very wordy to say/explain, but I think its a rather simple concept and won't take too much effort. Hopefully we have an editor around here to clean it up some.
The workaround for an advanced taping - I will note this in big bold letters at the top of the "Week XXX" roster thread. Your ECW wreslter will be frozen in his start/bench role the following week as well unless you specify your intention in advance. We can hash out the details of how to do this as we go along and can tweak it, but for starters...

the header will read...
Week 1
There is an additional ECW taping this week, all ECW wrestlers will be locked in for next week as well unless otherwise specified.

typical roster post...
Kings of Cool
Viscera
Snitsky
Eugene
Scotty 2 Hotty
Funaki
Sabu

Bench
Flair
Arn Anderson

Roster Moves
Add Arn Anderson, Drop Jake Roberts
Week 2 - Bench Sabu, Start Arn Anderson

_____________________________________________

Week 2
Due to taping, all ECW talent are locked in unless otherwise specified previously.

Kings of Cool
Viscera
Snitsky
Eugene
Scotty 2 Hotty
Funaki
Arn Anderson

Bench
Flair
Sabu

Roster Moves
Move submitted last week for Week 2
Bench Sabu, Start Arn Anderson

I don't think thats overly complicated, and the number of times you would have to actually execute this move? maybe a couple times all season. With no required "ECW spots", it will only impact you as much or as little as you want. If you don't wanna be bothered - don't pick any ECW talent. And more than likely, the only guys you'll have on your rosters will be full time starters anyway so it won't apply to them either. Sabu, RVD, Big Show, Sandman etc are never coming out of the lineup anyway, so you won't even have to bother. This would only be if somebody breaks a leg, gets released etc - or perhaps the following week is a PPV and you want get that extra Smackdown guy starting in advance etc.

My votes and thoughts.
1. Yes I don't see how we can blatantly ignore 1/3 of the brand. It's not much more to follow if thats your concern, the spoilers are usually attached with the Smackdown spoilers/results so you can read right along with that. Its only 3 more matches to digest, and about 10-12 guys worth owning so you don't need to deeply research much. Hell, you are probably more familiar with the ECW roster than Smackdown at this point anyway lol...

2. No, maintain I settled on 1 extra spot being up for vote because thats the max I could see realistically being added after determing that its only about the 10-12 extra guys. As someone mentioned previously, I think this will be the perfect way to fill out the bottom of some of the thinner teams and balance everyones squads out leaving everyone more or less with an active starting 6.

3.No expansion of keepers I like the idea of the draft being strong past the first 7-8 picks, so by maintaining 4 keepers - but increasing the pool of available talent - that will make future drafts a bit more interesting and shuffle rosters even more which is a good thing.

4.No At first I saw the merit in this as it was their only belt. But I think its evident that they will be bringing the TV Title and Tag Team belts back soon enough - probably with a tourney heading to the PPV - so I think it would good if Title Defenses were uniform across the brands. Also, the "Cyber Sunday" main event is being advertisted as Champion v Champion v Champion of the Big 3 brands. If they view the 3 brands and belts as equal, I think we should mirror that.

5.In Favor 1 move max per week I know this hurts me most, but much like my other thoughts, I think I will make the league better by slowing the moves that can be made by the more active squads and giving other teams equal opportunity. Mike says roster transactions are the trickiest part, so if this helps simplify, I am for it.

1. Yes (Add ECW)
2. No - Rosters stay the same though
3. No - Keepers stay at 4.
4. No - Keep the belt equal value as it is viewed by the WWE
5. Yes (1 move per week)

Also, just as of today, they have banned this site at my job. So no more posts from Greg Rude all day long (lol) I will only be able to check this in the evenings now. Communists Sons of Bitches.

I'm not overly strong about these, especially roster size/keeper size/belt.

1. Yes (Gotta give ECW some love sometime)
2. No (Maintaining status quo is best)
3. No (Keepers are perfect as is)
4. No (ECW's champs deserve equal recognition)
5. No (Why limit a person's ability to help their team by any means necessary? If a person has 2 or more injuries one week, they're gonna wish this rule was never enacted)

We have majorities on all proposals (with slosh not participating - dude, whassup?):

#1 passes with a vote of 8-1. ECW wrestlers and programming will now be a part of our league
#2 fails (2-7), which means that rosters will NOT expand with the addition of ECW wrestlers
#3 fails (1-8), meaning keepers are not affected
#4 fails (2-7), meaning the ECW World Title wins and defenses will count equally to WWE/World Heavyweight title belts
#5 passes (7-2), meaning a limit of 1 add/drop per week

In keeping with our "gentleman's agreement", no ECW wrestlers can be transacted at this time. Any ECW'ers who are not already on people's rosters will be subject to the next draft.

I think we had a good discussion with good points being made on all sides. GO now reaps what he has sewn, as he will be in charge of scoring and divulging tape dates of all ECW shows.

OUCH - if my calculations are correct, Ric Flair's cheesy win over a SS member in the final freakin' week caused Mike D to have to cut him loose as his top scorer instead of the retired Trish.

We have a 2-week break now, right? Farn's gone for 1 week. What do you say to keepers being posted by Tuesday October 24th and starting the draft on Wednesday October 25th??

PS - congrats Tree

Reckon one of us should have caught this sooner but did we actually vote for changes made for "Season IX"? What's gonna happen to Season XIII? ;)

Is our Week 1 deadline going to be Monday 10/30 then I guess? I may need help for the first week or two cause I am moving that week and very busy - and hopefully would have cable for the next week. After that I should be all good and may even have a DVR as a bonus (can't wait to move!:)

Also - does anyone want to step up and take RAW or SD from Farn on a regular basis to make his life a bit easier?

Just a reminder for myself - I want to remember to put our full schedule in the first post of the Waivers/Transactions thread for next season.
Also, do we need to write-up/update the rules now with ECW and the transactions limitation?

Tue, Oct 17, 2006, 15:09 Mike D's trading has apparently broken the system. Although it correctly identifies him as owning pick 6.06, it won't let Mike or me pick - instead it's prompting for 6.04, and then refusing that pick because 6.04 has already been made.

Fred (KKB) has been notified, and hopefully it will be resolved shortly. In the meantime, Mike D's 6.06 pick will be Ricky Davis, so those next in line can refine their plans.
