Guys,
A situation has arisen for me that is going to basically find me backing away from 95% of my Fantasy teams.
Will probably only keep one baseball and stay in RIFC for Football.
Otherwise, all will be going.

I really hate to leave the league, and will finish out the season, but if you can find a co-owner, I would appreciate that.

Now to explain.
As you all know, I really enjoy fantasy sports with a passion.
Life is getting in the way, and it is time I pay attention to it and back away from the fantasy realm.

My wife has what is called Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKM).
For the last 6 years, her kidney function has been hanging in there real well and sitting firm at between 25-27%.
We have been kinda thinking things were doing okay and we were in great shape.
She saw her nephrologist (Kidney Doctor) in July and he said she was still at 25-27%.
She had blood work redone in early September by our family doctor and all he did was told her she needed to get in and see her nephrologist right away.
Came to find out her kidney had taken at hard hit and she was down to between 15-17% kidney function.
With that came the news to expect to be on dialysis in the next 6-12 months.
Preps to do Choices classes to figure out which dialysis.
Preps to do Transplant classes before she can go on the transplant list.

So, my mind has been kind of shot trying to make important decisions and help her cope.
Just do not have the time or energy to deal / cope with everything.
So, I don’t intend to disappear 100%, can’t leave my extended family.
Need them to help with my sanity.
I do expect to drop most all of my teams.

Some of you will see this more than once, as we might be in more than one league together.

Thanks for being there and understanding.

Cliff....So sorry to hear about your travails with your wife. Certainly, fantasy sports--as much as we love them-- are nothing in comparision with real life. Sometimes real life does bring substantial issues that have to be dealt with in its proper perspective. I wish your wife a speedy recovery with prosperous health. Come back when you can. There's always room for you.

My prayers are with you, my friend!

Cliff, best of luck to you in all that comes at you. We are here both now and down the line when you find yourself longing for a big elbow off the top rope.

If there is anything we can do just say so. And we will try to keep your team on autopilot and/or find a copilot who can keep your group of high flyers rolling until you can resume your position at the executive table.

Best wishes my friend.

Cliff - my thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife.

we joke about it all the time, how fantasy sports rules life, but we all know better. when life grabs us below the belt and squeezes, we gotta fight it.

be strong, and don't worry, we got your back.

we'll see if we can find a co-owner, and i probably speak for everyone when i say you always have a spot in this league (although if everyone we've said that to came back at the same time, it would be really interesting. lol)

good luck bro.

Cliff -

Got your email too bro. Not much more can be said that hasn't already been said. All of my best wishes and strongest prayers to you and your wife as you go through this ordeal. I certainly hope that the kindness and friendship you have shown me (and all of us) over the years will be rewarded with a little extra good karma towards a speedy recovery.

As has been said, you are always welcome here....and anything we can do in our little world, consider it done.

I hear you about the 'extended family'. It scares me to realize I have been around this site since 1998! That's nuts!

Sorry to hear your news Cliff...has not been a very good year for you. Your family will be in my prayers.

I totally understand where you are coming from...I have had my own tumultuous year. I find myself a single father of my 3.5 year old son while his mother pretends like she is 21 again. I have had to pull back from most of my hobbies and concentrate on what is important and that is my son. I doubt I will be running "Lucky 13" fantasy baseball next year.

Good luck and stay strong!

I got your email as well as reading the post above, Cliff. I hope and pray for the best for you and your wife.

Obviously, fantasy sports take a distant back-seat to family matters, but many of us are here to help co-manage or run teams for you while you concentrate on what is important.

You know Cliff, we are all extending our very best wishes to you and yours. Family comes WAY before these games my friend. You owe no apologies to anyone for this rather obvious and necessary decision.
