Did anyone catch this on MTV last night? It was pretty cool. I got to see Jack Evans and Teddy Hart for the 1st time. They were both quite impressive.

I enjoyed it. Its certainly a show for anyone with ADD, thats for sure. Action every single second, lots of big spots.
Jack Evans did pretty well against another ROH guy in Matt Sydal. Generation Next was represented.

Teddy Hart is just nuts (seriously), certainly will be interesting if WWE trys to sign him. He's about 10x more risky than Jeff Hardy - not only in his moves but in terms of no-shows and mental stability.

Who was generation next??

Teddy Harts back flip thing off the top rope was sick.

Not sure about the explosions, seemed a little weird.

NEW Jack is a sick bastard.

ROH History
Generation Next was a professional wrestling stable in the Ring of Honor promotion, which was formed by Alex Shelley on May 22, 2004. Over the course of the two years it was in use, Generation Next was made up of Shelley (May 2004-December 2004), Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, Jack Evans, and Matt Sydal (August 2005-July 2006). On June 3, 2006 Generation Next disbanded, wrestling as a faction for one last time on July 29, 2006.

Generation Next attacked Ricky Steamboat on July 17, 2004, while Steamboat was facing CM Punk. CM Punk saved Steamboat from this beating, completing his face turn. This incident led to the feud between Generation Next and Steamboat/Second City Saints. On October 2, 2004, Generation Next defeated "Team Steamboat" (CM Punk, Ace Steel, John Walters and Jimmy Jacobs) in an eight-man elimination match, with Aries and Shelley being the sole survivors.

Nice to see Vampiro again, always liked that guy and he disappeared (to Mexico) after WCW.

yea, it was a lot of fun. a friend asked me what i thought about it, and i described it as thus:

it was...a trainwreck. but in a beautiful way...it was just carnage and chaos and silliness. it's kind of like eatting a box of sugar.

Jack Evans and Matt Sydal are two of the most talented guys out there, and both are fun to watch. Teddy Hart has all the talent in the world, but he's the Jeff George of wrestling - million dollar skills, with a 10 cent mind.

he's so off the wall that even his close friends have to do damage control. he was talking about WSX on some interview the other night, and mentioned that Jack wrestled injured. Jack issued a short statement on his blog basically saying "yea, what Teddy said? it's not true."

there is going to be some fun stuff with WSX. i'm especially looking forward to the Trailer Park Boyz (a redneck white trash tag team of Josh Abercrombie and Spyder Nate Webb), Doing It for Her (and emo tag team of Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black), and, of course, Matt Classic, which is Colt Cabana under a mask, and he ONLY does old school moves like airplane spins and pile drivers and backslides and stuff like that.

re: Matt Classic.
First of all, I love the name. Its hilarious.
Second of all, based on this review, I am gonna check out the match online later today. Sounds like a hilarious gimmick. I wonder if this gimmick is a way for Cabana to get into WWE? He's deserved to be there for a long time, it would be ironic if he kind of backed in with a joke gimmick... especially now that his best buds Ace Steel and CM Punk are there.

More introductions: A lot of folks will remember Sydal from last week's show, but, just for the record, he's a young man out of the St. Louis indy scene that has recently made waves both in Ring of Honor and to a lesser extent internationally in Dragon Gate. Matt Classic is ROH's Colt Cabana in a mask, playing a character who has essentially fallen out of wrestling's past and in to its future.

Classic does some 1950's callisthenics in the ring to warm up, and it's a thing of beauty. He goes behind his opponent to start and tosses Sydal down to the canvas. A shoulderblock also connects from Mr. Classic, though Sydal responds with an enzuguri. He walks in to a back elbow but quickly recovers and hits a leg lariat for the first nearfall of the match. After the pinfall, Classic applies the STOMACH CLAW~!, though Sydal quickly reverses and charges in to the corner. Classic tosses him to the apron, grabs him by the nose, and pulls him up to the top rope. It looks like Sydal is going to take the Flair bump off the top, but he turns it in to a rana on Classic. Colt also eats a swinging kick in the corner, though he's caught in the trapezeus claw not long thereafter. Sydal slips out and between Classic's legs, popping up and getting a quick victory roll for two. Classic takes a breather and goes after Lizzy Valentine, which distracts Sydal long enough for the old school grappler to regain the advantage. He briefly applies the claw to the head and looks for the Polish hammer, but Sydal fires back with the dragonrana and the shooting star press to get the win.

Match Thoughts: Matt Classic may be one of the most amusing gimmicks that I have seen in years. It would be funny anywhere, but it's particularly amusing in our highspot-centric MTV-owned promotion. Plus, it's Cabana, and he's got the brains and athletic ability to make something different like this work in the otherwise fast paced world of WSX. This ability was on full display against Sydal, as Cabana new where to pick his spots and make the otherwise hokey offense look like it could actually be having as much effect as Sydal's new wave flippy-dos. The bout was a little bit shorter than I would have expected, though I guess if they let something with Classic run too long, they run the risk of having the gimmick burn itself out prematurely. On the other side of the ring, Sydal did just about everything correctly, flawlessly executing his moves and selling well for the larger man. *

i've been meaning to watch WSXtra, which is the website version of the show, with extra matches. one of the wrestlers was saying that the web version is shot more like a traditional wrestling show, with less crazy jump cuts and camera angles and such.
