0 Subject: Anybody want my team?

Posted by: Bond, James Bond
- [53224615] Wed, Mar 07, 2007, 10:42

I'm looking to let somebody take over my team, Casino Royale. I've a blast with this league and have nothing but good things to say about everyone around here but the fact remains that while we're still rebuilding and whatnot due to the effects of Katrina, I don't have the time that I thought I would to manage this team properly.

I hope this doesn't disappoint anyone nor cause any hardship in finding a new manager. Thank you so much for allowing me to join. Perhaps at a later date, I might be allowed back in if the circumstances warrant it.

Thanks again!

Bond, i am sure there will be no problem finding someone. Its too bad you wont be able to stick with us as you have been a great improvement to our league. Good luck with everything.

It would probably be better to get moving on this sooner rather than later. Any recommendations??

I asked my wrestling friends, but half of them are imaginary and the other half said they just don't have time. Sorry.

Hi,

Friend of mine pointed you guys out to me but not sure which name he uses here. I am a fantasy sports and a wrestling fan but never tried a fantasy wrestling league. If you guys still need someone to take over this team/stable I would be interested in doing it, assuming I can figure out the rules.

I am officially an idiot, I do not use my gmail address as often as I used to and typed it wrong, it is zyre.mercutio@gmail.com not the underscore I used. I saw no email and I was trying to figure out what I did wrong, kinda like Shelton Benjamin trying to figure out how he is stuck in the spot he is in now. *mourn the exciting half of the Minnesota Stretching Crew*

ok. bonus points for knowing the Minnesota Stretching Crew - that's an OVW reference from a few years back, so that shows me you know a bit more than just plain ol' WWE.

so, what's your wrestling fan background. sell me. :o)

Hehe, okay here it goes. Grew up in Louisville when the King was throwing fire, Jeff Jarrett was such a pretty boy he was getting more action from teenage girls then the King, and Dutch Mantel scared me more because of his Matt Borne like fur then his bullwhip. Lived in Jacksonville Fla during high school so I went from listening to Lance Russell call matches to Gordon Solie. Living in da Ville again now so I catch OWV's tv each week and used to work at a shop where a number of the guys came to shop so got to see them in their infancy. Cena as the Prototype and Rico were a good heal tagteam.

When I first started watching WWF I took a shine to Bret Hart (and the Hart Foundation), Jake Roberts, and the mid card greatness that was the Killer B's. I maintain that 2 Cold Scorpio was the best thing that Marcus Alexander Bagwell ever had going for him and that I would usually prefer to watch good tagteam specialists going at it then I would ever want to watch marquee thrown-together tag team champs like Cena and Michaels.

Guys I always love to watch work, Johnny Nitro, Joey Mercury, Edge, Christian, RVD, Dreamer, Jerry Lynn, Deuce Shade (boy is gonna be a player) Shelton Benjamin, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Seth Skyfire, Paul Birchall, Melina (not just a pretty face), Victoria (see Melina comment), any version of Shane/Gregory Helms, among others.

I am not a Cena hater, I think the man is great on the stick and works his ass off, but I do not think management wants him to expand his skillset much like Flex Cavana aka the Rock.

My favorite tag team finisher was Total Elimination by the Eliminators. Their matches with Sabu and RVD are classics I think.

I miss Trish Stratus for the obvious reasons but also because she busted her ass to get better. I think Lance Storm was sorely wasted. But I hope that gives ya some idea, hope to work my way onto the show if I am lucky.

Hey guys this is a friend of mine ... we met in star wars online (yes, catch us riding white and nerdy!) Our casual conversations in that game about wrestling led to some OVW discussion and I saw how knowledgeable he was on the topic... not to mention he's heavy into fantasy sports in general and would be a good fit. Thanks for taking a look at him.

I think some smaller cable network in need of programming ought to make a deal with them for a weekly show. I know you can buy the dvd's or check their YouTube stuff out but I would rather have a regular show. The stuff I have seen I really enjoyed and want to catch more of it and would also like to see more New Japan stuff too.

I am also glad Brent Albright is there as he got the shaft in WWE and deserves a chance to show his stuff and be appreciated. WWE was so close to helping him out by allying him with Benoit then they dropped it.

Hehe,

I will be glad to give you guys some OVW tv updates, one thing they have been noticeably doing lately is talent swapping with Deep South. Several people are gone from OVW now that are on DSW's tv show and vise versa.

Not to highjack the thread or anything, but Tree, what do you know about Empire Wrestling Federation.
Looks like it is strictly a West Coast Group.
They are in town Sunday, so thinking about going.

not a thing.

that being said, i just checked their website. a bunch of people i haven't heard of, but, there are a few guys worth the price of admission alone:

Human Tornado - if it were him and 50 guys i never heard of, i'd pay 20 bucks. seriously. he's way entertaining. if you youtube him, there should be a ton of "tribute" videos. really funny in the ring, and crazy.

Rocky Romero - tough as nails, and kicks about as hard as anyone in the business. really stiff.

a couple others, but i gotta head into the City for a 6 pm appt. i'll post more later.

Human Tornado IS pretty ridiculous!

Goat, surely Tree has mentioned it, but you should look into PWG (Pro Wrestling Guerilla). Its a lot of the same ROH guys mixed with some west coast talent. That would be an entertaining show from top to bottom.

PWG also has a good sense of humour. i will say that there are a few wrestlers who curse a lot - mainly the god that is "Photogenic" Chris Bosh - so it's not fantastic for kids.

then again, they've heard all the words before, so it wouldn't bother me if i had kids. lol

Zyre, based on the feedback of the other managers, I'd say the team is yours. Your squad is as follows... come up with a new team if you like as well.

Booker
Test
Shad
Highlander Robbie
Super Crazy
Mickie James
Chris Masters
Viscera

It takes a waiver claim 24 hours to process, so if you'd like to add/drop for this week you'd need to so 24 hours before the weekly deadline (9 PM EST before RAW, or before the PPV if its a PPV week).

Standings are Here - W18 Standings and Stats so you can see who is on everyones teams (and free agents, of course anyone is a free agent really, so if you got a feeling about someone coming up from OVW or whatever, go ahead and claim them). The free agent chart is just those that have scored points thus far.

You would make claims here... Season VII Waivers and Transactions Just follow the format of the others and ask anyone if you have questions. If nobody has trumped your claim 24 hours later, its official. The first post of the Waivers/Transactions thread also has all information relating to that specific season, like the PPV dates and trade deadline etc.

You'll need to post a roster (starting lineup) in the weekly roster thread. If you don't have any changes, then there is no need to post a roster as it just makes it more cluttered. But obviously if you claim someone, you'd have a lineup change that week.

The history of the rules is condensed here - RWF Official Rules and Scoring

Also, just a little guide for your planning - this season ends the week after Wrestlemania. So this is a good time to take over.

The way our offseason/draft goes - you lose your top scorer. So King Booker (I assume) will come off the top of your team. You'll then have your choice of any 4 remaining members of your team to be keepers.

We then have a 4 round draft and that allows the very top talent to be reshuffled so you'll likely have around the 4th-5th choice of all of our teams highest scorers.

So basically your goal for the next 3 weeks, is to find 4 guys that are worth keeping. I'd say you already have 2-3 that fit the criteria, so hopefully you can catch a couple debuts (i.e. 2 years ago, I had both MNM when they debuted and completely changed my outlook cause I suddenly had a lot to work with). Once the draft + new season starts you'll be able to make trades etc as well to further improve.

Just wanted to say a final farewell for now to all my good friends around here. I have tremendously enjoyed our fantasy league and although I wasn't that successful in my team's operations, it was my pleasure to be surrounded around people that have had the same pleasure in watching professional wrestling as I do.

Zyre, I wish you much success in your ownership of what I've left behind. Your fellow owners are really a great group of guys and will look out for you if need be.

Gentlemen, it's been mine honor. Thanks once again for your assistance along the way. Perhaps, one day we'll meet in this genre once again.

Sincerely,
Randy (aka Bond, James Bond)

Hey guys - just got back from Spring Training. What a trip - was great. I'll write something up in the Baseball forum about it, including Farn with the hook up for a Suns game (thanks again man!)!

Bond - I enjoyed getting to know you a bit. All of my best wishes and we'll miss you.

Zyre - welcome to the league! We're a pretty ragtag group but we like to talk some trash....like noting that Greg Rude does the worst Rick Rude dance impersonation I could ever imagine. Probably looks more like "Big Dick Johnson" (the fat stripper) than Rick Rude! ;-)

Thanks Species I appreciate it, and I think Greg learned his dance skills from none other then the Big Fat Oily Guy!!! Well at least BFOG got to grope Christy Hemme in their tuxedo match, damn I am still upset Christy didn't work out in WWE. She had great enthusiasm and her flexability was very fun to watch, she had a nice match on OVW tv right before WWE let her go, oh well.

on a very very side note... just got done checking my email.

Why do the porn sites have to make up fake subject lines? "I lost my car keys!" in the subject... but then on the inside it says "Hot young slut wants you to click here!" Ok, I'm gonna click on it! You don't need to tell me you lost your car keys???? What does that accomplish!

Just a thought, since Slosh is MIA... do we need another manager? We've miraculously (successfully) replaced Goat/Bond this year because of unfortunate circumstances for both guys.
