Notes:

- Batista did not appear for the main event, perhaps due to Finlay/Booker pre-match beatdown in the back. I'm not sure about precedent here, but I'm not giving him credit for the match. He did get 5 for post match save.

- Gave MVP 5 for post-squash promo

- London/Kendrick got defense points - nobody else (Benoit, Chavo) had the belts on the line.

MVP did a promo before his match AND after his match... would he get 5 for both?

Batista should get match points and Main event points. It is the same as the situation where a guy just decides not to go to the ring. I cant remember who it was, but we had this discussion about someone, maybe for the royal rumble or something, someone didnt ever get to the ring, but he was part of the match so he got points. I will try to find it.

Yeah I could see that, it was announced as Batista being in it... just cause he didn't get out there until it was too late shouldn't really matter too much.

If it was announced that was changed to a handicap match then I would go the other way. So despite the fact that it essentially was a handicap match, it wasn't "officially" one.

Kind of the reverse of a partner coming down to ringside and then abandoning his partner.

That's why I throw it out there. According to the recap it was certainly announced as a tag team match with Batista 'involved'.....just seemed weird to award points for not being in a match. No entrance music FWIW.

I'd still like to hear precedent (Farn?) about this though.

Re: MVP - here's what was said on the recap I read:

Back from commercial and the music of MVP hits and he makes his way to the ring. He's going to be wrestling another supposed champion now which MVP himself introduces. He introduces the supposed Liechtenstein Heavyweight Champion, Cedric Von Haussen as we get some nice Alpine music and Cedric comes out in what could be called as a britches and jacket outfit with the feathered alpine cap. In the ring MVP goes to shake his hand and just takes him down with big clothesline!

Introduction of your opponent=promo? Now I know he's now wrestled a couple of jobbers reputing to be champions of their respective areas (pretty funny, actually), so I suppose in one sense it's furthering this angle, but a simple introduction as opposed to explaining how he will crush Benoit, etc just seems weak. Curious as to others' thoughts.

Well, without seeing the tape I'd say I'd have given MVP promo points. If he is taking the mic and doing anything that is an attempt to get himself over in one form or another to the crowd then he'd get points. And if he took the mic again after his match thats 5 more.

As for Batista, if the match was announced by the ring announcer with him participating, he receives the full amount of points even if he never appeared near the ring. This includes match points and main even points if necessary.

Oh, and if he appeared for a post match save, he does not get points for that. Its not really a save/promo/interferance because he's an actual participant in the match. So he only gets the match points.

Ok.......cool.

Batista: 2+2+25+10 = 39(+30 from his originally awarded total)
MVP: +5 for pre-match promo

Yeah, MVP cut a little promo about why he was challenging all these guys from all the over the world etc etc... "I want to challenge myself against the best of the best to prove I'll be a worthy champion, so this week I have challenged the champion of Lichtenstein! (then) weighing in at a jacked 184 lbs... " lol...

Then afterwards it was "see that Beniot, thats what I'm gonna do to you. You'll be on my own personal highlight reel when we look back at my first Title."

I forgot about taking off the interference points for Batista, I guess that goes without saying he can't interfere in his own "match".

Probably best to add them in next week at this point. Thanks for the heads up. Those involved double check me next week, but I'll add them on my points sheet for next week NOW so they are already there.
