thought i'd start this thread..lots of news...from 1wrestling.com

***WWE has announced that the following live events have been canceled:
1/11 in San Angelo, TX
1/13 in Utica, NY
1/18 in Lowell, MA
1/18 in Louisville, KY
1/27 in Valparaiso, IN.

***They've begun running promos for a guy in prison. Apparently, that guy is Nathan Jones - so my gut instinct was wrong, and that's good news for Mr. Nice Guy.

***Bret Hart and VKM met during the WWE Holiday Break....hmmm, if anything comes out of this, once again MNG has a MAJOR steal...

I hope the WWE sets up a brock/angle wrestlemania but in a real wrestling match so we can really see who the better man is. I know the majority of people on the boards consider kurt the better man.

I can't seem to find the article but Bret Hart did indeed speak to VKM. Not an exact quote but to paraphrase he said "I met with Vince. And no, I will never be associated with the WWE again." So don't hold your breath to see him around.

Farn - this is pro wrestling. this is the place that saw Hulk Hogan return to the WWE, something he said would never happen. the bottom line is that money talks, suckers walk.

fair enough Tree, but I think Hart is different. What happened with him was a killer. He got screwed. It was huge. They swore eachother up and down. Hart hates him.

Hogan left, but not with so much hatred. It's a little bit different.

Farn - If being allowed to head to a different organization for a fatter paycheck is getting screwed, then man, will somebody please screw me hard. i mean REAL HARD.

seriously bro - what happened in Montreal was very likely a work. everyone involved knew it would happen, and everyone involved stood to be in a better position afterwards because of it.

just look at Bret, VKM, and the WWF as a whole. Bret got more money and his freedom. VKM was instantly granted a personality (mr. mcmahon), and the WWF reached heights unmatched before and unsurpassed since with the "Attitude" era that immediately came after the montreal incident...

hmmmm... that's something I hadn't considered. I guess I just always bought the screwjob explanation. It seemed far beyond a work. Even in the behind the scenes stories and such everyone sells it.

Do you think all the wrestlers know it as a work? Or was this worked out between Bret and Vince only?

i'm no expert, i really don't know anyone behind the scenes in the WWE, but i have been a fan for a long time, and have had many a discussion with other long-time pals, some of whom do work, or have worked, for other promotions.

i think the general feeling when it first happened was that it was a shoot, and bret got screwed.

but as time has gone by, and the puzzle pieces have fit together, i think a lot of people have changed their minds. i'm one of them. but, i dont think we'll ever know for sure.

I'm voting shoot. But I do think that Bret had little right to make decisions like that. We get emotional thinking about it, but in reality, Bret screwed Bret.

Anyway, on brethart.com there's a poll, and guess what's the question? "Do you want me to see me back to the WWE?"

Again, even if he comes back, he's not gonna wrestle. This is sure.

Actually the poll is "Would you like to see Bret on WWE TV?" That's not the same as coming back to the WWE. My guess is he might just make a one time appearance for the RAW 10th anniversary show. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw Austin there for the anniversary show. Or maybe Doink!

First off, Montreal was shoot. Yes, you could say that the whole thing was a work- the screw job, the punch in the locker room, Bret's wife yelling at Hunter outside the locker room, all of it could have been a work, but I really doubt that.

And lets realize something. This isnt probably half the reason Bret Hart fueds with VKM. Bret is adament that the show shouldn't have gone on when Owen died, and he feels VKM is partially responsible for this. Owen Hart is the main reason for the VKM/Hart fued. The Hart's cant stand the McMahon's. For that reason alone, I think that Bret Hart coming back is a long shot at best.

Bret might have screwed Bret, as BH said. Was Vince backed into a corner? Maybe. There could have been ways around it though. Bret didnt say he wanted to win the match. Bret said he wanted a run in. It could have had a better ending.

I just cant see the Hitman coming back. Owen Hart was a great man. I knew him, and know the Hart's personally (through Bret's daughter), and really, I can't see Bret coming back.

well, we'll see at the anniversary show...

speaking of which - we need to decide today if that show "counts" in regards to our league. it's not on a monday night, and i think it oughta count as a "clip" show, i.e. all highlights, so no points...

thoughts?

Anyone see Matt get his ass beat by Hardcore Holly on Tough Enough? I suppose it's easy for me to say here from my keyboard, but was anyone else surprised by his reaction after that beating?

I could appreciate the emotion of it, and how it would challenge your will, but did anyone else think it effected him a lot more than you would have thought?

I am sure rating for that would be about as high as the game show network.

Species----yes, I was surprised he was in tears. I'd have been pretty upset, but not in that way. I'd have been very confused, as Matt was, as to why the "trust" was broken like that. Especially on a good day when they had the 5 v 5 match against the former Tough Enough contestants, and now were having a good tag match mixed with trainers.

no, i think the fact Matt shook his hand was a big step. that was respect.

the thing with guys like bob holly, al snow, bill demott, rocco rock, mick foley - they're guys who toiled SO long and really had nothing to show for it until relatively late in their careers - and because of it, they respect the business, they respect what it takes to go out there every day and risk your butt for a few bucks.

any of those guys i just mentioned, would lay down, take a bump, get pinned to put over a batista, a lesner, a haas, or a benjamin.

you won't see a c*ck like triple-h do that..

Here's how I'd book it...

CHRIS JERICHO will win the Royal Rumble. Obviously, he's a heel, so they'll have to have the Raw Title match afterwards, which is the only way to end with a face victory. The last two opponents he eliminates will be SHAWN MICHAELS and BROCK LESNAR. Also at the Rumble, KURT ANGLE will defeat CHRIS BENOIT and SCOTT STEINER will defeat TRIPLE H for the two titles.

As the winner, Jericho wins the right to face his champion, Steiner, at Wrestlemania. This gives Steiner a rematch against Triple H at No Way Out, that, unlike the Rumble, he'll win cleanly. Jericho, meanwhile, will get to settle his differences with Shawn at No Way Out.

Brock Lesnar? Well, on Thursday's Smackdown, Stephanie will make the decree. Since the Rumble winner is given a title shot, she considered Brock the "Smackdown winner" and grants him his title shot against Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania. But Brock wants a piece of A-TRAIN, who helped Jericho win the Rumble, so that's another No Mercy match.

I'm also guessing that Kurt won't wrestle at No Mercy (darn it) but coach Team Angle to the Smackdown Tag Titles against the suddenly-face Guerreros.

The last piece of the puzzle is that Undertaker's run-in in the Brock/A-Train match sets up their match at Wrestlemania.

all from 1wrestling.com

from Ross Forman:
"Bill Goldberg and Vince McMahon met last Wednesay (1-8-03) at a Los Angeles area hotel and talked about "everything you would think we'd have talked about."

from Dave Scherer:
"As Ross Forman reported on the Newsline earlier today, Bill Goldberg continues to talk with WWE about coming in and working a program. Our best information has told us that if he comes in, he will wrestle the Rock at WrestleMania and at Backlash the following month. The interesting thing about this is that there is a lot of talk that while Rock has committed to work those two shows, sources close to the situation have told me that he really wants to work against Goldberg because he is a new opponent and isn't as excited to come back and wrestling someone he has worked with before. It should also be noted that he hasn't committed to working for WWE over the summer either. So, it seems that there is even more impetus on WWE to get Goldberg signed than there already appears to be."

"For those who missed it, Undertaker will be coming back as his "American Bad Ass" character. The vignettes that have aired on Smackdown with him playing his past characters were only done to show a progression of his characters over time."

More from ProWrestlingScoops.com:

Yesterday, there was an article in a Connecticut newspaper called the Stamford Advocate that stated Triple H & Stephanie McMahon had broken up over the Christmas holiday.

Just to clear things up, numerous people backstage in WWE have pointed out that the newspaper article was 100% false. There was no fact to it and was pure speculation on the authors part.

So if who thought Triple H's backstage power in WWE was dwindling because of his 'relationship status' with Stephanie McMahon, you can think again. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, still happily together.

By the way, does anyone else find certain people's gimmicks obsolete? Take Y2J for example, the Y2K scare was over 3 years ago, he really needs a change. Perhaps even worse is Scott Steiner's "holla if you here me" taken from the abominabination "I got the hook up" a 1998 Master P movie . He used it in WCW too and it was old then!! How do you guys envision the whole Bischoff angle playing out? He's taken on a bit of a face role, playing the good guy who could bring Stone Cold back to the WWE vs. the bitter McMahons who didn't want him back. Maybe Shane does come on as Raw GM, but Bischoff ends up taking some kind of manager role or even dusting off the old Commissioner angle to fued with Shane on Raw?

Kurt Angle
As many of you know, the SmackDown! brand superstars headed to South Africa this past week.

While wrestling in the ring, Kurt Angle felt numbness in his arm and other symptoms of neck problems. Angle has had neck problems since 1995 but has been able to work through them.

Angle is expected to see Dr. Youngblood within the next several days for an evaluation, but there is fear right now within WWE that he may need the same surgery as Edge which would cause him to miss close to a year of WWE action.

Angle wrestled the entire tour of South Africa despite what other superstars were telling him to do.

Right now his match with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 19 is in jeopardy.

Stay tuned for more on this breaking story.

If Angle does go under the knife, that is a huge hole for Benjamin and Haas, and really, a plus for everyone else with a major Smackdown name.

I think they will hold on till after Wrestlemania to give Kurt some time off. I think this also means a Goldberg return would be to Smackdown, and that one of the big 3, as in, Rock, Stone Cold, or Trips would be making a turn to Smackdown.

Joe McDonnell, of the McDonnell-Douglas show, has informed us that he will be reporting Goldberg to WWE is a done deal on tonight's show on ESPN Radio 710 in Los Angeles. The hosts were apparently told that the deal was official at the Los Angeles Laker game last night. Bill Goldberg himself was also at the game.
As a note, while this is not totally confirmed, it is highly likely that such a deal is final. As we've been reporting, the two parties have been very close at reaching a deal over the past few weeks, so one could have been signed. Keep returning to ProWrestling.com for further updates.

We have just been told by several backstage sources that Ernest 'The Cat' Miller was informed of his WWE release at the SmackDown! tapings last night in Tacoma, WA. Miller had been on commentary on Velocity for several months prior to being moved to SmackDown! as a full time worker.

Miller is the latest name to join the likes of Zach Gowen and Chris Kanyon who have both been cut as well.

More cuts are coming, trust us when we tell you that.
1/4 of my roster doesn't work for WWE. Ah well.

They also have an item that says to expect 4-6 more cuts in the next few days.
