Subject: Wrestlemania Discussion and Pick'em

it all comes down to today. The 4 more electrifying hours in sports entertainment.
I will be scoring live today so if people want me to up date things as we go I can.
What are the odds HHH speaks up and says that Flair retiring should be the main event? If he does that's 20 points I would get that other contenders would not. Not likely but Flair is one of his closest friends and a legend who would deserve it.
For the pick'em, try to bold your picks so they stand out.
Ashley/Maria vs. Beth Phoenix/Melina 24 Man Battle Royal Chavo vs. Battle Royal Winner JBL vs. Finlay Batista vs. Umaga MITB Ladder Match (Morrison, Punk, Carlito, Benjamin, Kennedy, MVP, Jericho) Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels Big Show vs. Mayweather Underaker vs. Edge HHH vs. Cena vs. Orton |

Its all coming down to the Main Event. If HHH wins I should have it. If Orton retains Species is in position to capture the crown.

I am beginning to think this match isn't the ME because Orton will retain and they want to go off the air with Undertaker winning the title.

Wasn't this much more fun of a finale than waiting to read Smackdown spoilers?!

Well Species won last year reading the Smackdown spoilers and he won this year with a true finale. So I would say we should ask him which he preferred since he's not biased.
There certainly wasn't the amount of interest (and live scoring!) last year, so I think that speaks for itself.

I promised a better showing out of my team this season and I am happy with my comeback. Now i just need to see what I can do with this squad for next year. I really wish we could make trades after the season ended. It would make things alot nicer.

I think that's definately a rule change we could consider. It would have to be a small window though so as not to delay the start of a season.

I would support a small trading window after the season ends as well. There are some solid mid-carders who are going to be thrown into the draft (Shelton and Phoenix, to name two) who would make excellent keepers for some teams, but now they'll have to draft them.

Species, you giving away my keepers? :)
I'd have traded Horny too. He would have been a high scorer on some teams.

Seems to me being able to trade after the fact would defeat the purpose of having a trade deadline.
|
66 | Farn Leader

why? in sports you can trade after the deadline. They just aren't allowed on your postseason roster.
There are always trades before a draft in the real world of sports (not that wrestling has ever really fit that category)

And all the leftovers's going back into the draft is a good thing cause all those who loaded up on draft picks will actually have some people to choose from instead of horribly thin drafts (just ask Tree from last year) and to avoid the top teams condensing their talent into bigger and better studs after they rent some talent for the stretch run.

Go wouldnt you rather have a shot at trading a pick to pick up a guy like miz rather then hoping he is going to be around with the 10th pick?
|
69 | Farn Leader

GO, as I said to Species in an email, if you trade away a huge talent to a contending team for a #1 pick and there is nothing there to draft thats the risk you take. The contender took a risk. So did the non-contender.
It takes a good manager to succeed in this league as well as a break or two.

Oh it takes a LOT of breaks (cough-Big Show-cough) - one injury can really derail you. But this had to be the most haphazard/crazy season of all with all of the HUGE names being traded, and the huge number of picks thrown around like dollar bills at a strip club. It's going to be hilarious seeing my draft with all 4 picks in round 4 (I think)!!!

71 | Great One

I think without the pre-draft swapping there would be a deeper draft and the first place couldn't rent a player for a stretch run and then get that pick right back before the draft.
i.e. Rude and I are hashing out a deal right now for Chavo cause he wants him back for next year... but its gonna cost me having to carry him over and then doing the deal. And frankly I think thats the way it should be. Otherwise I could have just traded for Chavo for a couple weeks and then sent him right back free of charge. And if thats the case... why bother with a trade deadline if the contenders know they can rent extra talent and then reallocate it so easily.
