Appears to be more than a rumor. Here is the link to the story.

Hmmm. Didn't they already ban foreign objects in the ring, hitting the refs, and the Hulkster's hair? We'll see it if lasts. Good story, though.

I've heard about kids trying these moves on their freinds, unfortunately with some success. I was watching WCW tonight and there is a match on PPV tomorrow where the winner will be decided by who sets the opponent on fire first. I grew up in the 70's, I thought we were all supposed to be hooked on Rollerball by now.

Not anyone over 30. Didn't you see Logan's Run?

I kind of remember Logan's Run Perm Dude, wasn't everyone over 30 hunted for sport?

That's the one. Nowadays they would be hunted down for those haircuts.

Perm Dude, as Bobby the Brain used to say (when partnered with the late Gorilla Monsoon), "What foreign object? I didn't see anything."

I agree with the article that if it's not played up on TV, probably nobody will notice it much. This is unlike WCW the other year when the outlawed the powerbomb and then advertised it all over the place, that was just stupid. (This was after Nash and The Giant screwed up a powerbomb and the Giant almost ended up with a broken neck)

Wasn't Droz paralyzed by a pile driver gone bad?

I don't think so (regarding Droz). I think it was a gut wrench suplex where Brown couldn't get Droz over and he dropped him on his head. I did this to my older brother once, onto a bed, and it scared me to death.

They decided to ban the piledriver after HHH lost feeling for a few minutes in his arms after a tombstone piledriver from The Undertaker at the last PPV.

Scary how many injuries occur, and how many more almost do.

Wasn't Droz injured, when D. Lo tried to do his infamous running powerbomb?

Jay-P, I can't exactly remember. I've read several articles since then about the incident, and I just remember that Brown "couldn't get Droz over." Over on what move? I guessed the gut-wrench above. Maybe it was a powerbomb. I may have to look this one up now.

It doesn't really matter what move caused the injury, the fact is, even trained professionals can make mistakes, and that's what happened. More and more "backyard wrestlers" are doing insane things are lack the training, which leads to numerous injuries to be suffered. Then, the media cries foul to the WWF that they're inciting this violent mimic violence.

Agreed, Jay-P. I used to participate in some of that "untrained" grappling. No serious injuries reported, but several bumps and bruises. Just ask my brother Steve. ;)
