According to reports, the Macho Man has died as a result of a heart attack and car crash.
Best wishes to the entire Poffo family. Macho Man will be remembered as one of the greatest in ring performers of all time.

On November 1, 1990, I was the ring announcer for a WWF championship bout in Salt Lake City between Macho Man and Randy Savage. I mistakenly gave the Macho Man the world championship as, I found out, the title doesn't change hands on a disqualification. I was told while being lifted to my feet after Ultimate Warrior had floored me with a forearm shiver.
So part of a strange chapter in my life goes with the Macho Man.

He hasn't wrestled for years, but childhood favorites are strong in memory and Savage was my chosen one of the 80s.
Nice to see that he transcended wrestling and was a recognizable part of pop culture with RIPs coming from all over.

Savage and Steamboat at WMIII was probably the best WWF match of the era.
Savage is easily in the top 10 wrestlers of the last quarter century.
my favorite promos of his came pre-WWF, because he just somehow seemed even more crazy. this is one of my faves:
