0 Subject: Season 18 RWF Reboot

Alright folks... Farn and I both have had crashing computers the last month so this has made it difficult. If anyone has time or ability to score the Dec. RAW's/SD's (even just from spoilers) that would be helpful otherwise I think the Sprint has died.

RWF Season 18 Regular Season Re-boot.

We're going with 3 roughly 4 month seasons.
People can start trading if they would like to.
There will be 3 keepers, still lose top scorer.
Help There will be a 5 point bonus for specialty matches i.e. cage... can someone work on a list of all these types of matches so we can add to the scoring thread? Rude?
During the draft there will be an extra round to account for a prospect who can be chosen at any time. Details below.
Trading - no more trading 1st/2nd to same manager one season, no more trading 1st's in back to back seasons, no more trading beyond upcoming season

OPEN ITEMS
1 - Please state your intention to return.
2 - Based on how many return, we are going to go with half the league in a lottery fight for the most ping pong balls, and the other half fighting for a championship. We'll draw the line after a mid-season PPV.
3. Vote When the lines are drawn here, I think we definitely reset the bottom 5 and let them fight it out - most points from then til the end gets the most ping pong balls. But do we also reset the top 5 fighting for the RWF Title? Maybe stagger it like NASCAR does during "The Chase" where its reset but first starts with 250, second has 200, third has 150, fourth has 100, 5th has 50... so you are do get some reward for a good regular season at least with a headstart, but if 5th was 700 points behind, he at least has a chance.

Prospect

Prospect are considered any wrestler with less than 100 points previous season. Defined in a "prospect list" posted at the beginning of the season in the Transactions thread. You will make a prospect pick at any point during the draft (an extra round will be added). You can then call them up to your regular roster (without using waiver priority) at any point you see fit to do so. Once that prospect reaches 100 active points you'll need to add them to your roster for the following week or lose rights to them. If they stay below the 100 point threshold you can maintain their rights over the off season and that player will just become your lowest draft pick in the subsequent draft.

I won the Salary Sprint thing, right?

1. Rude is in *Does Rude Dance*
2. Ok, sounds good Mean Gene.
3. Sounds like it was previously decided, but I would say no resetting in either top 5 or bottom 5. Reason why I say about bottom 5 is because if you worked hard to make the "playoffs" but fell short to 6th place and had to goto the loser's bracket ... should you be punished for that? Or have the edge for the most ping pong balls?

On the Specialty Matches set, I'll come up with a list that can be tweaked/adjusted this weekend.

Ditto
I'll play based on whatever the league decides but personally prefer a 6 team playoff system with byes for 1 and 2 seed. This would take place after the 4 month "regular season". Also would suggest a consolation tournament for the number 1 pick. Something simple like 7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9.

Well it looks like Rude and RJ are in. Plus GO and I.

Maybe this league has finally run its course? Started 8 (calendar) years ago in January of 2003. Maybe its finally faded?

Wiggs is in, and I'm sure Tree but he's travelling. Thats 6... i think we need to get to 8 to do this. So 2 of Nailer, Zyre, chunk and Bobo.

I also think like RJ's idea of head to head playoffs, but I think that got shot down last round of voting.

Count me in.

I like the idea of the head to head playoffs better than anything derived from Nascar. I think the lottery will help somewhat discourage people from tanking just to get the top pick.

Well that makes 8... so thats enough to start it up. Maybe we shoot to draft Wednesday Jan 18th around noon? Until then we have a week to confirm with chunk and Bobo and offer Wiggs' friend a spot there if they don't chime in.

We can hash out the playoff scenario as it approaches - head to head or just points from that point on. Either way I think we reset the points when things get divided into RWF Super Bowl and Toilet Bowl top pick battle.

If it is head to head w/ seedings I would suggest 3-4 week head to head matchup so its not all in one lucky week.

I think the head to head might be tough, especially if you see your guys one week ... generally you don't see them the next week. I'm down for whatever though.

This will need to be discussed and tweaked but for specialty matches they should be:

Contract/#1 Contenders Match/MiTB
Cage/Hell in a Cell
Ladder/Table
Street Fight/Falls Count Anywhere
Ironman Match/2 out of 3 Falls/Last Man Standing
Battle Royal

(Borderline/Questionable:)
Standard No DQ?
Gauntlet? (I believe there's already enough bonus points built in the scoring)

I think we could reasonably start this season with the Royal Rumble, so if thats the case we'd be drafting by next Wednesday 1/25/12 mid-day. In the future we'd start 1st of the year of course, but this season can be a lockout style shortened year. I'll try and work on proposed schedules this week. I expect to have some extra free time later this week.

Rude, I like the list and I'd leave off the bottom questionable ones.

And I'd say we go til this Friday to finalize the 9th and 10th teams between Bobo, chunk and Wiggs friend... if we can't find 2, we chop it to 8.

And if anyone is all ready to go with keepers, I will start collecting them.

I've also got either Wade Barrett or R-Truth on the trading block for a draft pick or 2-1 upgrade.

Need to figure something out this week... so we have the new rule where no trading #1 picks back to back seasons... will that include any trade made in the next week? so not be able to trade a first rounder in the upcoming season then?.

I'm thinking no cause these changes are all part of a reworking for next season and beyond, but just wanted to get some other opinions.

GO #Post20 ... I think this rule was created to prevent a manager from constantly trading their ONE PERSONAL #1 draft pick constantly each season making their team worse. I don't think just because you acquire multiple picks, and want to deal one out that the penalty should apply to you. Definitely not if you are trading someone else's #1. It should be personal #1's only, and even then it should be more defined if you have multiple #1's.

I agree Rude, also think we can't enforce til next year even if they traded their own #1 this past season cause nobody knew the rule existed yet.

Spoke with Bobo, and he's not going to have time to continue. So I'm beginning to think we are going with 8 teams. Even if chunk committed again we'd probably want another to have an even 10? Although I guess it really doesn't matter to have an odd number.

With us going to 3 keepers, I think less teams would probably be for the best. 8 sounds good. Top 4 and Bottom 4 for playoffs/lottery.

I've got all keepers except for Tree who wrote to tell me he'll have something in the near future he just needs to steal a few minutes to look at this team and is also shopping for a 3rd keeper so everyone please be on the lookout for emails from him tonight perhaps so we don't hold anything up.

Farn if I send you a pick chart can you make one of those beautiful draft grids?

I've got the schedule more or less scripted out.

Also one thing to remember this year we'll have a 6th Round to add to the chart (and frankly to trade right now if you want) - the extra spot for our "Prospect Pick" chosen at any point during the draft, who scored less than 100 points previous season and will be on your "bench" until callup time or you carry them over to next year (still under 100 points of course).

wait- I am a little confused about this- Can one of our keepers be the prospect if they are under 100 points? Also what happens with the draft picks when we add an extra round? For example, I traded my "last 2 picks" at the time they were the 4th and 5th rounders, do they turn to the 5th and 6th rounders now?
37Great One

The prospect will need to be picked and declared a prospect during the draft during any round and he is your prospect til he hits 100. If he never does you can keep in subsequent offseasons and just forfeit your worst pick at draft time.

I didnt really think about the extra round til today. I dont know which way to go with that. I would say for simplicity leave the chart as it is and just tack on a 6th pick for everyone. I dont know. Thoughts?

If the trade verbiage specifically says "worst 2 picks" or "last 2 picks", then it should shift to 5 and 6. If it says "4th and 5th" then it stays.

Thats fine with me, its not worth trying to figure out if somebody had a 5th or 6th. Its all a crapshoot after the 3rd or so anyway.

Tree sent me keepers and I will update pick chart adding an extra round, switch the picks to reflect that last trade and send it to Farn after I compute the order.

Ok, I sent Farn the picks and the order. I'll post here so people can start planning. The pick chart above is accurate just without the extra 6th round tacked and the Wiggs/Tree deal.

Wiggs (Skip, Colt, Rollins)
Tree (Santino, Taker, Ted Jr.)
RJ (Ryder, Gabriel, Drew)
Nailer (Truth, Otunga, Vicki)
Farn (Miz, Swagger, HHH)
GO (Punk, Y2J, Wade)
Zyre (D.Bryan, Sheamus, Beth)
Rude (Ziggler, Rhodes, Bourne)

Me keeping Y2J and his 0 helped whoever the heck has my 1st rounder move up a few spots. Your welcome!

When tweaking this schedule, since we got a month late start its gonna be hard to end on Wrestlemania. Here is what I would propose, let me know your thoughts... end the regular season on Wrestlemania, then do 2 Raws, 2 SDs for Round 1... 2 Raws, 2 SD's + Final PPV for the championship.

In the future I'd stretch this to 3 weeks per round instead of 2 but I think this should work. And Wrestlemania would still have major importance for teams fighting to get a playoff spot etc.

What do you think?

RWF Season 18 Schedule
Week 1 - Royal Rumble PPV 1/29/12 (usually this will be Jan 1st)
Week 2 – 2/6
Week 3 – 2/13
Week 4 – 2/19 (Elimination Chamber)
Week 5 – 2/27
Week 6 – 3/5
Week 7 – 3/12
Week 8 – 3/19
Week 9 – 3/26
Week 10 – 4/1 (Wrestlemania XXVIII – End of Regular Season)
Week 11 – 4/2 – Semi-Final Playoffs
Week 12 – 4/9 – Semi-Final Playoffs
Week 13 – 4/16 – Finals
Week 14 – 4/23 - Finals
Week 15 – 4/29 (RWF Super Bowl – End at Extreme Rules PPV)
