Yeah, you got contracted buddy. You were just too irreplaceable.
I didn't think Brock would ever come back, thats why I didn't bother with him. Then he got beat in that UFC match and retired... so I guess that changed things.
I think there's a slight error in the trade area. Can I assume that should say "wiggs can't trade his Season 20 #1 pick"? He traded his Season 19 so his Season 20 would be the one he'd have to keep.

I asked Go about this a week or so ago and he indicated it wasn't like Jeepers where you can trade between the end of the season and the keeper declaration/draft. So I think you're SOL on a trade possibility.

Well its the same thing in baseball football or basketball with that rational. I could make a trade for my playoff run and then trade a keeper if I have too many. Happens in every league.

We don't have enough fire power to go buy a bunch of players. It only works is u need 1 guy and I am basically tracing a 1st round pick to get the guy and asking for a 2 in return.
I am not going to argue about it but it doesn't make sense to me to use that rationale. In football 101. I can trade my 1st round pick for someone and turn around and trade 2 keepers for 1 or 1 keeper for another pick. I dont see any difference

I agree with not trading until the new season officially begins ... you made your moves at the end of the previous season, if you did a trade for a major push ... then you deal with it for the next season. No need for annoying delays now. Let's go.

I get that other leagues let you trade over the off season but I think this league is a totally unique thing since there is no off season really. We aren't trading in conjunction with "real teams" trading and signing free agents and responding to those changes over a 6 month layoff.
And more importantly (since that rule was passed back in 2005) the intention was that you had to live with what you paid for if you bought a whole bunch a players to make a push, or didn't sell off that valuable piece before the deadline. It cost you more than a temporary rental.
And people could also manipulate and avoid losing their top scorers which would deplete available talent in the draft. Similarly without any consequence. i.e. had Santino scored 20 more points... I would simply swap him for Y2J and be keeping Punk. But there is no way I would have done that during the season while fighting for a playoff spot and the championship. But it wouldn't cost me a thing now and Punk would never sniff being available. But I know it wouldn't be for the good of the league cause it would make the trade deadline worthless.
But I think that's the main issue. If I trade my 1st, 2nd, 3rd rounders for top talent I essentially rent all season... and then during our one week layoff (after I lock up my championship) I can just trade all my leftovers and get back those picks right back? What did buying all that cost me? Nothing.

We can totally vote on it again, but those are the reasons I would vote against it again. Even though as a crazy trader I know I would exploit the hell out of it since it would take away the value of the trade deadline.

Ah.. never actually wrote all that in the proposal specifically. But I guess if we are switching to the lottery style system using the post-playoff order, there isn't really a need to do the old system.
Think we need a vote? or is that how everyone assumed it would work? Fine with me, certainly much simpler.

you wont get the same value for the players in a return trade. For example I traded a 1 and 4 to get orton- I was looking for a 2nd rounder for henry and I am not sure I was even going to get that.
I think it would have to be worded in a way that you couldnt trade for a player to make him your top scorer, you would have to trade for a guy that you could keep. Whatever, its over with now anyways.
