I think his team name has to be Sponge Bob Square pants.......

Thought I would start a new discussion thread as the other one is nearing 100 posts. We have the waiver process ("hidden waivers", 24-hour waivers) under discussion at the moment.

[Begin Heel Promo]

Say, with you being our esteemed champ and all, you should consider a team name of Orndorff’s Brawlers or something. Seein’ as how you’re the new Mr. Wonderful.

[End Heel Promo]

HAHAHA!

I won't go into the story of how his nickname came about but yeah, it was based on that cartoon guy.

Anyone heard any other matches for tonight besides the cage bout?

That's it so far. Supposedly the main event even though it is the first match-----trying to take away some football viewers. We haven't had that before in this league. I have Kane and RVD and am interested to see the match as well as whether it REALLY ends up as a main event.

kinda sucks you won't get main event points. But it makes me wonder what big match they will squeeze in for the main event. Probably a Stone Cold promo cut after the cage match to announce the rest of the matches. Maybe Kane or RVD will wrestle twice tonight.

I also heard that the reason for opening with the cage match was because of the opening week of MNF. Haven't heard anything else, but if I was booking the show, I'd promo another big top talent match for later in the show (without saying when) to keep as many viewers from switching to MNF as possible.

LOL Mike D -- as you could imagine, I loved Orndorff - or at least the "Mr. Wonderful" persona.

Speaking of Sponge Bob - I proudly wore my Sponge Bob "Krusty Crab" T-shirt my sons got me for my birthday on Saturday. As I shopped in Macy's that day, a lady selling cologne looked at the back of my shirt and said "The Krusty Crab? I've never tried that place....is it good??"

I really had to hold back the laughter as I explained to her it was only a cartoon.

Farn-----I still could, if there really is no main event later, etc.......we'll see. MITH, you're right, they gotta keep the viewers after the cage match.

Rajah has no info on any other matches.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I say the main event should be Steiner starting a MAJOR feud with Christian and have them battle for the IC Title!

;-)

Or maybe Shane McMahon battling somebody.......anybody.

From ProWrestlingScoops.com

Note - they'll hit you with like 6 popups.
The talk in the RAW locker room over the weekend was about a fight between Shane "Hurricane" Helms and Rodney Mack on the Sept. 13th show in Knoxville.

Apparently, Hurricane was telling Mack how he wanted to lay out the tag matches they've been involved in. Mack offered some ideas, but Hurricane apparently reacted pourly with the belief that he, the veteran, should be the one to lay out the matches.

From there, words were passed until it escalated into a scuffle. According to one witness, Hurricane said, "Bring it on", which Mack did.

According to one source, Hurricane had to be taken to the local hospital after the match.

More on that story from PWScoops;
One of the big stories this week was a fight backstage between Rodney Mack and The Hurricane at a weekend house show.

There are different perceptions of what caused the fight, but generally, it is felt that Hurricane was complaining about the fact that Rodney Mack and Mark Henry were not selling enough for he and Rosey, that no one should kick out of his finisher at the house shows, and that he should be responsible for laying out the match. Mack, however, felt that it should've been a back and forth effort, which didn't make Hurricane too happy. It is then said that Mack believed Hurricane deliberately stiffed Mack at one point in the match Saturday, so the fight broke out later that night.

The word is that the fight was extremely short and Hurricane had no chance. Apparently, he also gashed his head open after being hit by Mack into some sort of shelving on the wall. Additionally, there are conflicting reports as to whether Hurricane was cheapshotted, or if he actually told Mack to "bring it on".

And since it's a slow Friday afternoon;
Reader Scott Fedor sent in the following synopsis of the concert by "Macho Man" Randy Savage in Treasure Island, Florida last night...

Syndicated morning show D.J. Bubba The Love Sponge talked about the show daily for the week or so leading up to the event (heard locally on 98 Rock). Bubba and Savage have a long-running feud, and Bubba encouraged his listeners to come out in full force to let Randy know exactly what they thought about him.

When I got to Mr. B's (the restaurant/bar where the event was held), there was a swarm of people outside of the building, many adorned in bright yellow shirts. Bubba had promised a shirt giveaway on the radio, and those were the shirts. On the front read "Hulk Hogan Rules" and on the back "Macho Man Sucks" with "Proud Member of the Bubba Army" written below. I was too late for the free shirts.

Mr. B's was refusing to let anyone else inside at that point -- especially those who were wearing the yellow shirts. However, others who walked right up were let inside, no problem. Apparently the idea was to prevent hecklers from making it inside. That idea ended up failing. A slew of off-duty cops kept the peace out front as best they could.

Brian Adams (Crush) and Macho Man arrived together in a limo. There were a few cheers... and then a chorus of boos from angry Bubba fans. People were shouting things like "Nubain" and "crapped your pants at Gold's Gym" at Randy. I was amazed at the scene.

A cover band was inside playing as a warm-up, and I managed to finally get through the doors. The venue was tiny, hardly the scene for a serious concert.

The performance itself was horrendous. Remember the Milli Vanilli incident in 1990 where their CD started skipping at a concert? That's what happened three songs into this show. Macho was lip-synching to his music, trying his best to ignore the overwhelming boos and jeers from the crowd. Unfortunately for Randy, the CD started skipping. Oops. He kept lip-synching until Adams gave him the sign to stop. They tried to compose themselves, but ultimately the rowdy crowd and equipment problems were too much to handle. Randy slammed down the mic and ended the show abruptly.

Overall, the show was great on the unintentional comedy side of things. As a serious performer, though, Savage doesn't stand a chance. I felt bad for Randy up there on stage. Someone has given him some bad advice on this one. He'd be better off working for MLW here in Florida -- as a wrestler, not a rap singer.
For anyone not familiar with the background here, Bubba the Love Sponge is a Tampa based shock jock (often called the Howard Stern of the South) who is also good friends with Hulk Hogan. Hogan is a frequent guest on his show and has had heat with Savage for years. Savage's rap album in which he calls out Hogan has been in the works for several months, but I didn't think it would ever really get released.
