i won't bother with the link, since it's from 1wrestling.com and you'll get bombed with pop-ups, but wow, this really saddens me.

i LOVED the Road Warriors, back when they were destroying the AWA, Florida, Georgia and other places, when the Legion of Doom also included guys like Jake "The Snake" Roberts...

wow...man, this sucks...

ROAD WARRIOR HAWK PASSES AWAY

by Georgiann Makropoulos Updated: 10/19/2003 1:03:22 PM

It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you that Hawk of the Road Warriors has passed away in his sleep at 1:30 this morning.

Hawk was born on January 26th, not sure of the year but I believe he turned 46 years old. His real name was Michael Hegstrand.

Mike had everything going for him right now.

He just sold his Condo to move today into his new home in Tampa, Florida. His wife Dale said "he was going to lay down for a while, he didn't feel well." She thought it was from all the packing and excitement of the move into their new home.

As soon as I find out further details I will post them here for you.

I want to convey my deepest sympathy and condolences to Dale and Mike's family, friends and fans. This one has really hit home hard. I am totally at a loss for words.

If anyone would like to send a note to Dale, please e-mail them to me and I will see that she receives them. I don't even have the new address yet, so this is the easiest way.

Hawk and Animal were perhaps one of the most successful and feared Tag Teams ever on the wrestling scene. Joseph Laurinaitis (Animal) is totally devastated. We should hear from him soon.

They were first known as the Legion of Doom. Those spiked shoulder pads were so intimidating.

In Chicago, they just celebrated their 20th Anniversary on June 7th @ the Pro Championship Wrestling show, where they were reunited with Paul Ellering.

And it's official, The Road Warriors were just voted the Dream Team by the fans of the WWE RAW Magazine Poll. The Magazine is now on the Newsstands, it is the November issue.

It is a very sad day, today.

i have been a die hard LOD fan since as long as i can remember. It is truely a sad day. I will now have to go back and watch all my old NWA videos when they were truely a force.

RIP Hawk, "AAAAAAHHHHHHHH WHat a rush"

i remember one year for my birthday my mom got me an autographed poster of the Road Warriors. i couldn't believe she knew i loved them...

at least we got one final hurrah of them in the WWE last year, even if they were mere shadows of themselves...there was no more dominate tag team in the 80s, perhaps ever, than the Road Warriors...
