0 Subject: Hart Foundation 2003 - here and already gone

Yesterday i went to the Ring of Honor show in New Jersey (btw - the main reason results and such are late) - lots of great stuff, including an amazing main even of AJ Styles and American Dragon Bryan Danielson just tearing up the joint, and a co-main even that saw CM Punk work on a knee that popped out of place as he was warming up for his match, only to work 20 some-odd minutes, and (legit) get attacked by a fan that he then beat the snot out of.

but the highlight - and lowlight - of the match was the work of the "Hart Foundation 2003", consisting of Teddy Hart (Bret Hart's nephew) and Jack Evans.

it was a 5-team cage scramble match, and the cage had specially designed platforms on the top of each of the corners for some serious highspots. While the Carnage Crew and the Backseat Boyz essentially stayed away from the platforms, and the only spot with the SAT and Special K were the SAT giving Hydro a BRUTAL looking Spanish Fly off the platform, Hart and Evans used the platforms for some of the most amazing moves i've ever seen.

Sadly, Hart didn't know when to stop, and went from looking like a star to a jackass in record time.

Both Hart and Evans did amazing moves that defy description and name - things like spinning reverse 910 flips (imagine a sort of spinning double shooting star press - see, it just doesn't seem to make sense!) from the platforms UNTO THE FLOOR!!!

While Evans did a couple of high spots, then sold moves when he was supposed to Hart kept getting up and refused to sell. After the match, he climbed to the top of the platform, and not only did ANOTHER move onto some wrestlers, but climbed up to the platforms several more times and just did flips and stuff into the ring to pop the crowd.

oh, and did i mentioned he literally puked on himself several times from the top of the cage.

from what i hear, he completely pissed off the wrestlers backstage and in the ring by showing off, that several wrestlers had to be restrained from legit kicking his ass, and ultimately was tossed out of the lockerroom, bags and all, and is gone already.

it's a shame - the guy was amazing, and has so much talent, but to paraphrase from Bull Durham, it looks like he has million dollar skills, but a 10 cent brain.

AN OPEN LETTER FROM TEDDY HART

To All Ring of Honor Staff, Talent, and Fans:

I am writing this letter in response to the situation That took place at Saturday nights Ring of Honor Show and my actions during the Tag Team Scramble. I do want you all to know that I suffered a concussion during
the course of the match when I was thrown into the guardrail headfirst. I just left New Jersey this morning after awaiting Medical Clearance to fly back to Calgary. I do not have much, if any, recollection of the events that transpired in or out of the ring after getting whipped into the guardrail.

That said, I want to make it clear that as a man, I take 100% responsibility for my actions Saturday night and feel horrible that my post match conduct has taken away from what was a tremendous event. I am human and have made, and I'm sure will continue to make, mistakes in my life. I want to officially apologize to all Ring of Honor Staff, Talent, and Fans.

If that was my last match ever in Ring of Honor, I want to Thank Rob, Gabe, Doug, and all of the tremendous talent in the locker room for giving me the opportunity to perform in front of your great fans. I hope that time will heal the wounds and I will have the chance to return to Ring of Honor and personally apologize to anyone who I offended.

Either way, I will continue to do what I love, which is wrestle and I'm sure will make more mistakes in my journey through life. I cannot turn back the clock and change what happened. The best I can do is to turn this into a learning experience to better myself and my career.

God Bless,
Ted Hart

The concussion isn't to blame. That's for damn sure. Thanks for posting MITH.

i saw that posting too - while the fan in me wants to see Teddy Hart get a second chance because he was so damned amazing, the reality is that considering the "business" of wrestling, and lockerroom politics, it just may not be possible.

concussion or stupidity, Teddy Hart screwed up. it's a damned shame too, because he was mind-blowing good.

Given who he is and how impressive the reviews are regarding his ability, I think it's likely he'll get another shot, if not with ROH, then an opportunity to build a name for himself. Show business is what it is, and he has the potential to be a major draw. Greed heals all wounds.

he will get another shot - as we've seen in wrestling, guys get second shots all the time. Hart, though, for being so young, has managed to piss off the WWE, NWATNA, and now ROH.

somewhere along the line, for sure, we'll see him again. but the kid has got to grow up.
