0 Subject: Alternate course: Benoit available for trade

With Benoit's 135-pt Royal Rumble victory and upcoming WM XX Main Event (or close to it), there's little likelihood of acquiring someone to outscore him. So, what about the opposite? Who wants to trade FOR him?

I want two solid keepers in return - although more than likely one of them will get tossed back, because my next highest scoring wrestlers are in the Christian/Steiner mold. I can throw in a Paul London/Shane/Scotty2Hotty-type guy if it helps.

Best I can do is Trish and Vince. They're all yours if you don't get a better offer.

Basham or Chavo
and
Jindrak or Akio

for Benoit and London

Farn - I like Molly....but what do you mean by your #2? Your #2 scorer? That's a dead heat between Big Show and Guerrero. The cool thing, obviously, about acquiring Benoit is you'd be able to keep one of those two. I would imagine Eddie would be more to your liking. Can you clarify please?

Tree - we *could* do something, but I wouldn't want Jindrak or Akio. The sweet thing for you in acquiring Benoit would be that, most likely , you'd be able to keep Brock Lesnar as a keeper. Benoit's 135-pt rumble I believe would put him ahead of Lesnar by a noticeable margin - and with each of them (Lesnar and Benoit) basically headlining WM XX, I would imagine Benoit will end up outscoring Brock. Lesnar is a consensus #1 or #2 overall pick in a WWE fantasy draft. So you downgrade your 3rd or 4th keeper (Lesnar and Bubba Ray being #1 and #2) in order to keep the #1 or #2 pick overall seems fairly wise to me.

Lastly, having both Lesnar and Benoit would easily cement 2nd place for you.

I could *consider* Chavo and Basham......but I also like Molly + Show, but don't know if that's what Farn meant.

sorry Species. I meant my #2 pick.

I can't justify giving Show and Molly for Benoit. All I would do is give up 2 keepers for a guy I would lose. Can't do that. I could give up someone else instead of the #2 if you want, just not Eddie or Show with Molly.

Species - i slept on your suggestion, and i hate parting with 2 guys who are gonna be long-term keepers, but if you're game, i'm willing to do Chavo and Basham for Benoit and London...

Tree - Please allow me to give it serious consideration....sorry to lag, but I want to ponder Chavo's real value as a possible keeper...i.e. is he really anything without an Eddie feud? etc.

We're pretty much up to the deadline for this week, so if it's okay give me a couple days and I promise to let you know. Super Bowl/Lingerie Bowl preparations kinda kept me distracted from wrestling.

species - from pwinsider.com ...

WWE is very happy with Chavo Guerrero’s recent work. There is a feeling among many in WWE that he is the perfect opponent for Rey Mysterio due to the fact that he is not the typical cruiserweight. His more grounded style brings a different element to cruiser matches. There are many in the company who hope that the two can elevate the division to the next level. As long as management gets behind them and gives them the chance, they can.

Thanks Tree. Of course, from my perspective the line that bugs me is: As long as management gets behind them and gives them the chance, they can.

That's the sucky thing......but of course, that's why it's Fantasy WWE and nothing (outside of HHH title reigns....lol) is for sure.

LOL. that obviously was an editorial comment by the writer...which is very true. if you're not a big guy with muscles, or screwing the boss' daughter, it's really difficult to get over in the WWE....

species how about goldberg and flair for benoit and someone? then you could lose goldberg as your high scorer and still keep
stiener,
Christian
Hardy
Flair

What do you think?

Admittedly I like wiggs' idea more. At least I'm still getting a WM XX headliner that doubles as my high scorer.....and a 4th keeper of Flair is more appealing than a Basham or Chavo, and it guarantees I can keep Christian, who is one of my faves (even if not the best Fantasy scorer).

(thinking out loud here)

wiggs gain? Hmmmmm. Without that trade, he's dumping either Goldberg or Orton. If we assume Orton keeps his 23 pt lead over Goldberg, and with Goldberg's rather 'on the side' involvement right now vs. Orton's direct involvement in matches and interferences, you'd have to assume Orton stays his #1, he'd be left with:

Flair, Batista, Angle, Mysterio (assumes Goldberg doesn't return to WWE and he doesn't keep him)

WITH the trade, he keeps Benoit (or Orton) instead of Flair or Mysterio. Gotta like that upgrade.

wiggs - it's only Wednesday so let me ponder. But I will give it serious consideration.

Who do you propose as the 2nd guy on my side, wiggs?? And does it really matter? It wouldn't be someone you could use and certainly not someone you would keep.

I propose: Chris Benoit and Shane McMahon

for

Goldberg and Ric Flair.

I am prepared to make that deal right now.

wow, i gotta say, i don't understand how people keep making deals with Wiggs (no offense Wiggs) - you may be improving your team a little, but you're improving his team quite a bit.

i am stunned that he just got a top title contender and the mcmahon family member who will see the most in-ring action, and he only had to give up an old guy having his last hurrah and a guy who will be probably saying farewell to the WWE after Wrestlemania...wow...

while i agree that this trade helps me alot, i believe it also helps Species. He was losing Benoit no matter what, so all he really did was lock up flair as a solid keeper. While Flair is old, he is still scoring alot of points.
He has 635 thru week 22
he out scores everyone on
GL
Mike D (except RVD)
Mith (except Jericho)
younggunz
sponge
species (except benoit)
Mist
Great One
Farn (except Show)
Tree (except brock)
and Kev

Therefore he is a solid keeper on any of team. And he is a tag champ and a member of evolution.

Flair should continue to be a strong scorer. I'd be very surprised if he was in the top 20 again (much less the top 6 - 7) at the end of Season 3, but certainly a solid keeper.

I am pretty sure that Kurt Angle's midget outscored most on my team, so thats not much of an arguement. :)

btw.. anyone have an interest in Rhyno?

Tree - if Flair is indeed having his last hurrah, then I would agree with you 100%. As a title holder and member of a four horseman-esqe faction, I'm obviously making this trade for next season and will feel like a horse's ass if your 'last hurrah' prediction is correct.

To me Shane had no value to me this year or next. WM is in what? Less than a month? And Shane isn't involved. I would have cut him if we did a 2-for-1 trade. I can't see Shane as a keeper for Season 3 - he was a keeper for me for Season 2 in the midst of his Kane rivalry and he got me 2 or 3 PPV matches, but that's it.

Of course it pained me to give up Benoit - I bet he is the top scorer in the league between now and the end of the year, and I AM managing to make a run at 3rd place this year, so that was hard. My hope is that Flair replacing Gunn as my 6th scorer helps make up the difference between Goldberg and Benoit.

Chavo and Basham was a fair offer. But what is Chavo without an Eddie feud? And you said it yourself that, no matter how pleased the WWE is with Chavo it is probably not enough to keep him in enough storylines. Basham? An up-and-comer for sure, but nobody tunes into Smackdown to see if the Bashams are wrestling, but I bet a fair amount still love to watch Ric Flair go "woooooooooo" and do a Figure 4.
