0 Subject: Clarifying a couple Season 3 rules

Posted by: Species - Leader [7724916] Wed, Feb 11, 2004, 12:37

Guys -

As I consider pulling the trigger on the wiggs deal I want to be sure I'm clear on the rules for Season 3......

- Do the same rules for the draft apply?
i.e. Draft order will be our formula that takes into account last season's position *and* value of keepers?

- The draft does NOT snake, correct?

- We will draft four wrestlers, with four keepers, for a total of eight correct?

- We will have six 'starters' each week, correct?

- Draft picks can be exchanged NOW, correct?

Thanks.

Mike D - please email me. Need to ask you something.

The formula that gave you a ranking based upon your finish the previous season and the value of your keepers.

i.e. I was first, so I got 1 pt for that. I had the 3rd best set of keepers (I think), so I got 3 points for that. The average was 2. Since my average of the two was the lowest of all, I had the last pick in the draft. I thought it was a great way to avoid total roster dumping halfway through the season so people could not only stock up on keepers but have a high draft choice. By taking keepers into account, it's truly the best way to try to make the playing field as even as possible for the draft.

That reminds me of the other issue. I recommend that we set a deadline for keepers to be some time and date. People will submit their keepers to ONE person via email . Thus, others cannot see the value of the already posted keepers and change their keepers to improve their draft position. They can still change keepers via email up to the deadline, but they won't do it knowing that someone else changed their keepers to improve their draft position.

Hopefully this will keep the draft positions unknown at the time keepers must be designated and avoid any blue hen-like bull$hit before draft time.

That formula worked excellently, imo.

Species, yes to all.

If you want to do the keeper thing that way, we have to find someone who is willing to accept the responsibility. But I really don't see what the big deal is. If you're that paranoid that someone is going to model their keepers based on what you keep, then wait until the last minute. I don't believe for a second that anyone in this league is that cutthroat that he would be sitting there hitting refresh 10 times in the last 5 minutes like he's bidding on Ebay for the deal of his life. People had their keepers posted 3 days before the deadline and were posting changes with 48 hours left to go. There was nothing sneaky or underhanded about it. For everyone, its a matter of weighing the quality of your keepers against what you might be able to do to improve your draft status. It's not like there's any inside info or anything. Set a date and time. Anyone who fails to post by the deadline keeps his 4 highest scorers (after the top guy is dropped).

I will say that I am glad that we are discussing this now, whatever the league decides. Possibly more than anyone else last year, I was royally screwed over by being bound to a set of keepers that I posted over 3 days before the deadline that I never had any intention of leaving as is.

I agree MITH on that last part. Last minute changes/clarifications are a bummer.

I would say you guys could email me the keepers, and be able to make changes right up until a certain time when the keepers become official. I already know who my keepers will be, with the exception of 1 and i will know that depending on who finishes where as my high scorer and if Species accepts my trade.

hey, it wasn't my idea!! LOL..don't blame me!!

i'm really game for whatever the league decides. i know we DO want to avoid the situation we had last year that involved someone actually crying, peeing his pants, and quitting the league.

I think we all benefitted from that mess though in the long run. :)

LOL........I was wondering the same thing, Tree. MITH, you dope! ;-)

The ONLY thing my idea was intended to do was to avoid another blue hen debacle. I nominate wiggs because: 1 - he volunteered; 2 - he has the last pick anyway assuming he doesn't tank his keepers, which he'd be a (bleeping) idiot to do.

Proposition - The four keepers are due to the league 48 hours before the Season 3 draft is scheduled to start (date TBD). Keepers will be emailed to wiggs and may be changed up to the keeper deadline. If you don't give wiggs your keepers or post them publicly, the league can either seek a replacement or can put in default keepers to consists of your 4 highest available scorers.

Hey guys,
Just got back from my trip.
Agree with all the discussion.
Wiggs as the keeper of the keepers is fine with me.
