0 Subject: Trades with a Dead Team?

Posted by: Farn
- Sustainer [451044109] Mon, Feb 16, 2004, 17:37

I want to start planning for next season seeing as though wiggs has a strangle hold on this one.

One team I would like to make a trade with is Sponger's team. But as we all know he isn't the manager anymore really. So instead of going through him at this point and having it look bad I want to see if as a league we can collectively manage his team.

Basically I want to trade Show and Victoria for Booker and any warm body. He would lose Show or Booker no matter what as his high scorer, so Victoria would be the small upgrade over whoever he sends back to me. I would go after his #1 pick instead but I suspect that would be a nightmare to get a league consensus on. I could change Victoria out for anybody not named Eddie or Molly.

Thoughts by everyone?

I for one have no problem with making this trade. The one thing I would like to see though before making a trade like this would be for us to see if anyone wants this team. If they do, we should let them have control now like we did with Young Gunz. If no one wants this team, maybe we should just dissolve it. It is pretty pathetic as it is and Sponge has been a terrible manager.

A good point wiggs. I just haven't heard of anyone who wanted it. If there is by all means lets get them going.

And yeah, its a bad bad team. Only 1 team is possibly worse than this one long term. If we dissolve it we should know that in advance to help with planning.

i dont see how we can approve a trade with an inactive team.

i think we have to find another owner, or disband the team at the end of the year, and throw everyone into the draft pool.

Mike D and I may have discovered a long shot owner in Senator Urine...

Yeah, I'd lean towards testing out the Urinator, or considering contraction, at this point.

This is an open call to all who would like to make one an offer.
My 1st Round Draft pick (likely #1 overall) in exchange for your first round pick - roughly in the top 5 -- AND Rhyno/Orlando for someone who will have more points at the end then Test.

so

Great One's
No.1 Pick Overall
Rhyno
(or maybe Orlando who I know some are high on)

for

YOUR
No.1 Pick
i.e. Tajiri/Mark Henry/???

Hopefully some of those guys that don't check in anymore are around because they are the ones within range of being able to do this.

GO - I have many that will fit the bill including Flair and Steiner. However, my potential draft pick might be too low in the #7/#8 range. If you get nothing better I would likely make that trade.

Yeah yeah wiggs! Any idiot could tank their season with injured guys and out-of-wrestling superstars, then luck into Lesnar at #2 and trade with some idiot for Benoit (wait, that was ME!)....but it takes a real man to win the league when starting fresh with no keepers!

So shaddup! ;-)

I am know that pick is worth more then anything I have - and it more then likely means you get Brock. But it seems like after those first handful of picks its a steep cliff, thats why this is dangerous water I am treading in the further I would go down.

but to be honest I am not a big fan of Brock, so at worst I could draft him and move him afterwards.

Those situations would have been perfect.. but I just can't fall beyond about 6 or so I would guess. Its not like Test is that great, but I would love to be able to keep him. Another warm active body for my squad at least (was that gay?). I am in need of some depth. Its pretty pathetic that my leading scorer will be in the low 200's.

whose team does Young Gunz now control?

I am interested to see the list of guys that are gonna be available.. I know one guy who is actually being kept and not given up is HHH.. that limits the number of spots I can afford to drop.

Young Gunz has the Adam H team. I'm way behind in the keeper mentality. Even understanding your above proposal is confusing to me........oh well.

Great One,
Tough to say what my pick will be, I was in 7th place as of the Week 22 standings and I'm not sure if my potential keepers will improve or hurt my position.

How about Vince (currently 217 points) + my first pick for
Your fist pick + whoever you want to give me?

Note that handing over Vince will reduce my total score by his final mark, so it would actually be in your best interest to give me a lower scorer in return, to try to improve my draft position.

man, thats probably the best offer right now - not sure if that will be too far to fall or not - I keep thinking there are 10 teams - but that would be roughly 5th pick right now - and with no HHH to fill up a spot - the likelihood of landing the guy I want out of the top 4 is shrinking... I might wind up just holding this unless I can get top 4 - and then trade Brock from there.

and a brighter note - Mike D - previously discussed trade offer you were thinking over.

Kim/Zack! for Orlando/Palumbo.

responded to the email...

also something to consider - just looking at the dead squad - perhaps I could get league approval for me to trade with the dead team - the same package deal you guys have all considered - Then we can give the dead squad the number 1 pick overall - which should help recruit a manager because that will be part of the package offered to them - they get Brock! -...

Lita would work in that scenario. Maybe a couple others... I am just gonna give her away as my top scorer anyway - but I move down in exchange.

Looks like the deal with Mike D is pretty much done - so I am not sure if I absolutely need to do this anyway, but its something I have been taking a look at.

The more I look at it - the more I think I need to be in the top 4 to get the guy I have been looking at. So thats my new likely cutoff for that potential deal.

and it gives me an obvious, easy choice for someone to drop from my bench if someone comes along and I can use my waiver status - though I am likely gonna hold it til next season cause I wouldn't be able to keep whoever I pick up anyway. I actually have a few people worth keeping now.

trying to get a rough idea of who is gonna be everyone's top scorers...

my guesses as of Week 22 standings

Dvon or Doug Basham
RVD
Y2J
Kane or Tajiri
Wiggs - Benoit?
Booker T
Goldberg
Cena
Test or Rhyno
Guerrero
Brock
Bischoff?

with all the trades and stuff that might not be accurate - and again, its a few weeks old (I was assuming that Eddie passed Big Show)...

anyone I am completely wrong on?

and after looking long and hard at the squads of Sponge and Kev (and Adam H actually, but Young Gunz has show some enthusiasim in taking it over)... I am all for considering contraction of those two squads... that would get us down to a nice even 10 teams of guys that actually wanna play.

that is unless we get some guys geniunely interested (senator urine had potential)...

I say we put a time limit on it - whens the last time either one posted anything? - if they don't check in say by March 1st and show an intention to stick with it - they get eaten up and spit back into the pot.

So thats my vote with that roughly designed stipulation.

i am 99.9999999% sure Sponge has totally forgotten. I was just out visiting him this weekend and he didn't say a word. And like I said before I am not going to mention it because at this point I am in favor of contraction of his team.

I could be wrong but I think Kev has posted relatively recently. As long as he will be active I would be against contracting him.
39Great One

kev actually posted this in one of the roster threads... so I would say he is accounted for.

I would like to also apologize for my absense of late. I am really busy. I'm fighting with my girl constantly, and just getting used to my new job.

That, and the fact I am lucky to have 3 or 4 active guys every week, and I'm just waiting to start fresh, and not trade Wiggs any members of Evolution

so everyone needs to say whether or not they are in favor of contracting Sponges team.

2-0 so far.
