0 Subject: My phone conversation with Ric Flair

Posted by: Tree
- [176431421] Fri, Aug 06, 2004, 22:44

so, last week, as my company's annual sales conference, a co-worker based out of Atlanta who used to work for WCW and knows i'm a huge wrestling fan hands me her cel phone.

"here, it's for you," she says.

i'm confused. i look at the name on her cel phone, and it says "Ric F."

i look at her with a "holy f*ck. what??"

and i put the celly to my ear and say "hey."

and Ric Flair says "Hey man, how ya doing?"

i manage to barely breathe out a "um. ok. i'm marking out pretty big right now..."

Flair laughs. and says "what's up?"

and the rest of the convo kinda goes like this:

Me: Um. So. Um. Are you gonna be at the Legends Convention in North Carolina in November?

RF: I dunno. Not sure what work has in store for me that weekend.

Me: Um. Ok. Well. If you're there, I'll say Hi! and if you're not, I won't!

God. i'm a moron. and the convo just went downhill from there.

but, by god, i talked to Ric Flair on his cel phone, while he was riding down some street in some town with, of all people The Rock.

i'm a mark, and i was star struck for the first time in as long as i can remember, but hot damn, i talked to Ric Flair.

So star struck that it took you a week to tell us about it? Damn!

Great stuff though. And I thought it was neat to put my hand around Andre's thumb as a kid.

I remember when Nature Boy first came on the scene. Seeing as how I was a big fan on Dick the Bruiser I had little use for the flashy Nature Boy (Whooo!) and his figure 4 leg lock. He looks pretty mild by today's standards though, LOL.

well, i mentioned it on my blog, and i've told some friends, but it occurred to me tonight that i hadn't mentioned it here. i thought i posted it earlier in the week, but making up for lost work time at the conference has left my brain mush.

but yea, i was star struck. i mean, i hang out with wrestlers, so it doesn't happen to me often. but this time, it did.

I want to know more about the female co-worker that connected you with Flair. Awful nice of her.......maybe she's got feelings for ya bro.

Nice gesture regardless.........

I was at the strippers once, and I met like 13 wrestlers. I have met Bret Hart on many occasions, as he lived down the street from my best friend as a kid.

The best part was some guy asked Undertaker for an autograph, and he brushed him off, and the guy went "hey, come on", and went to grab Undertaker's arm....He just turned around and stared down the guy and said "never do that again", and kept on walking. Too funny.

the co-worker is our rep out of atlanta. she's married, but since she was in the wrestling business, there's a side to her that either just accepts the "naughty" aspects of dealing with pro wrestlers.

i actually left out a hysterical piece of the conversation, basically because i left it off my blog in case other co-workers read it, and didn't want my co-worker to be embarrassed.

but after i said i was marking out, Flair asked me if (co-worker's name here) was naked yet. i said "well, we're in a parking lot now" and he said "that never stopped her before"

after i handed the phone back to her she said "yes Ric, you have a big dick. oh yes ric, you do. it's so big ric. i love seeing your dick ric"

apparently, Ric is proud of his package. she said a drunk ric flair knocked on her and a co-worker's hotel room in the middle of the night, naked save for his socks. she remarked to me that she doesn't know how he "fits that thing in his trunks, because it's like my arm, elbow to wrist..."

I think this new forum index format is going to draw lots of attention to threads from people who might not otherwise ever look at them.

Agreed. And it's funny when you see a thread like this one with your name after it (as last poster), because it looks like it was YOUR conversation!

Why be afraid to talk to a pro wrestler?

They are just morons who lift weights (take steroids) and throw each other around a ring for a few minutes.

PS: Flair and the Rock are pretty cool dudes though.

That's a funny story tree! I'm sorry it had to happen to you though. To bad you didn't get him to give ya a big o' "Whooooooo!" That used to crack me up.

How old is Rick nowadays? 60?

MadDog - i'll make you a special offer.

come hang out with me and some of my wrestling buddies at an upcoming show.

repeat to them your words They are just morons who lift weights (take steroids) and throw each other around a ring for a few minutes.

last night i went to a match, and the main event was a best of 3 falls match between American Dragon Bryan Danielson and Austin Aries that went 75 minutes. it would have gone longer, but Dragon legit was ko'ed during the second floor, and spent about six minutes on the floor, lights out.

oh, and MadDog, i'd particularly like you to make that comment to Roderick Strong, definitely a pal of mine - this is what he did to a wrestler named Dizzy...just from chops to his chest, ala Ric Flair...

if the photo doesn't come up, follow this link...

you may have to type it into your browser, since they don't seem to like hotlinks...

so maddog, i'm making you an offer i don't even make people i like. come on - hang out with me and some of the boys after a card, and speak your words...

That's an awesome story Tree. It doesn't happen often so I hope you savored it.

I've actually only had two experiences meeting wrestlers, both in late 2002, when I met the Rock (and Coach and Michael Cole, who was a jerk, and Arn Anderson), and again at an autograph session where I barely got 2 minutes combined to talk to Edge, John Cena, Kurt Angle, Dawn Marie, Billy Kidman, and of course Matt Hardy, who asked my then-girlfriend if she was an MFer.

I sat behind Dustin Rhodes in a movie showing of The Perfect Storm a few years back. He walked in right when the movie started and sat right in front of me. No big deal, but my buddy and I laugh about it to this day.

Hilarious, Tree. Quite akin to meeting some famous hot babe (let's use Halle Berry as an example....meowwwwwwwww) and saying nothing beyond "soooooo, what's your sign?"
