Week 21, which opens with Summerslam, will be the final week of the Season.
Early congratulations to Wiggs, our two-time reigning champ.
I'll be visiting with my Dad in FL that week and returning home the Friday following Summerslam. Saturday is my sister's engagement party. I'm thinking that having just returned from being away for a week, having my sister's party and having my Dad in town will probably tie up my weekend pretty good, so I might not be able to get the final S&S out until Monday or so.
We only needed 1 week for offseason last time if I remember correctly, so hopefully we can do the same this time. We should confirm that everyone is still in.
This is also a good time to bring up any rules issues anyone might have. Off the top of my head, perhaps we should look at how we score Battle Royales and see if maybe it could use a tweak. Any other ideas? |

Also, there's the issue of scoring battle royales. Currently, for Royales of 20 men or less, we award 11 points to the wrestler eliminated 1st, 12 points to the next guy, 13 to the next and so on, with the winner getting 30 points. This has at least two flaws.
First, what if there are more than 20 wrestlers?
Also, does it bother anyone else that the winner in a 20 man battle royale only gets 1 point more than the 2nd place finisher?
Another issue, somebody - I think Wiggs - brought up some time ago the idea of making tag-title defenses worth more than 5 points.
And I'm not sure if I ever brought it up but I think I wanted to take a look at the way we score elimination matches.

I'll be in town through labor day, but then I have a long vacation planned. I don't think its a conflict but I figured I would mention it.
Right now I have moved up one spot in the draft order thanks to my trade with Great One. If only Kev had given in. Its not too late Kev if you want to swap #1's. :)

have we ever considered starting fresh after any particular season?
Just a thought. Might boost morale to a manager who has a weaker team. #1 draft pick is great but at some point even that isn't enough to fix a team when you lose your top scorer every year (which is usually the previous #1 pick).

I'm in of course. Maybe Benoit will help next year....and picking 1st every round is pretty nice.
MITH - what do we award World/Heavyweight/IC/US title defenses? 10 (notice I never have to worry about knowing that, since I don't have anyone worth a **** who has a chance at a belt -- lol)? Maybe we bump Tag Team defenses to 7 or 8? I agree it's a little disproportionately low as it stands now, but tag belts deserve slightly less weight than an individual belt.
Women's and Cruiserweight/European defenses should be even further down than tag belt defenses.
MITH - For battle royals, how about a 10 point bonus to the battle royal victor? And how about, when it's more than 20 wrestlers, the first eliminated still gets 10, and the points just go up from there. So in a 25-man battle royal, the winner gets 35 (plus a possible bonus as stated above).
Farn - I agree with the idea of considering a redraft at some point. Obviously not for season IV, but season V, right after WrestleMania might be a good time to have a new wrinkle. Admittedly it was pretty kick ass to dig deep in analyzing the entire WWE roster when drafting that first team.

The points for defending the tag belts is Wiggs' issue, not mine. I might like the idea of moving the HW/World defenses to 12, keeping IC/US defenses at 10, Tag defenses to 8 and keeping CW/Womens defenses at 5, but I don't think it's enough of an issue for me to make yet another proposal for. I feel like I make too many proposals and that if anyone else feels strongly enough about something that they should proposals themselves.
For battle royales, I don't like the idea of the winner getting more than 30. I was thinking about awarding 30 to the winner, 25 to 2nd place, 24 to 3rd place, 23 to 4th and so on, with 10 points being the minimum you can get. I was also (forgot to mention this above) considering the idea that only some of the last remaining number or percentage or ratio of contestants should get main event points if the royale is in the main event. Perhaps only the last 25% or the last 20% remaining?

I like the idea of a step-down defense point system. I'll throw it on the table:
Official Proposal
Heavyweight/World Title defense is increased from 10 pts to 12 points
Intercontinental/US Title defenses remain at 10 points
Tag Team Title defenses (whatever they are called on Raw/SD!) are increased from 5 points to 8 points.
Vote yea or nay. If nay, offer counter-proposal.
I vote yea.

I've had a nightmare weekend, trying to fly into Florida during a hurricane. 60 min layover in Atlanta turned into 36 hours before I could get on another connecting flight. Got here to Dad's place last night to find that there was no electricity. Finally got it turned on today. Hurricane damage here in Daytona/Ormond is pretty severe. Not quite like what you've seen on the news in Punta Gorda, but it's really bad. Everyone is safe, tho. Needless to say, I haven't had an opportunity to post the Wk 20 S&S, but even if I had, I forgot to send bring or send to myself the spreadsheets. Hopefully, I'll be able to have a friend who will be stopping by my apt in NY to water my plants and get my mail send the stuff to my email addy so that I can post it. If not, I'll bang it all out on Monday. Sorry about the delay.
