0 Subject: Best Wrestling Sites...

Just wondering what you feel what the internet landscape looks like concerning behind-the-scenes commentaries on the world of professional wrestling. Personally, I enjoy RajahWWF.com; BetweentheRopes.com and TSN.ca

I'd prefer sites with great commentary, little to zero popups and good customer feedback. Any thoughts?

the pop ups suck, but www.pwinsider.com is far and away the best site for news - mike johnson, dave scherer, buck woodward, and jess mcgrath aren't called the four horsemen of internet wrestling journalism for nothing...

Rajah is still my quick stop. Can't handle the pop ups for pwinsider but agree with Tree.

I find that the sites are pretty much all equal as far as reporting WWE-related news. They all seem to do a good job of checking what all of the other sites are reporting and making sure their newsboards are up to speed. The primary differences in my opinion (as far as WWE stuff is concerned) are the quality of the opinion pieces and the recaps. Lordsofpain.net unquestionably has the best and most detailed show and PPV recaps, but I still find it worth it to compare their recaps to at least one other source when scoring a show. I get most of my news from PWScoops.com. Their popups are notorious but they updaye their newsboard very frequently and they do a very good job of citing the sources (usually other wrestling sites) of their information, which I appreciate. They also don't seem to bother with the silly feuding that you will frequently see wrestling news sites get into with one another. PWTorch seems to break more of the WWE news than the other sites do.

TSN.ca used to be my 2nd home, but...

They stopped covering wrestling.

You believe that? WWE was pressuring them so...

while i use rajah sometimes, more often than not, they've stolen their stories from either 1wrestling, which sucks now; or pwinsider.

i was a source once for a story on pwinsider, with some pretty detailed statistical information. within a couple of hours, almost verbatum, my words and my statistics were on a rajah story.

i emailed rajah and the author, and blasted them.

I noticed that about TSN.ca. Didn't know why they quit but now I do.

Meanwhile, I love to read intellectually-stimulating articles on most anything revolving pro wrestling. None of this TRIPLE-H-IS-ONLY-OUT-FOR-HIMSELF-AND-TO-TRIPLE-HELL-WITH-EVERYBODY-ELSE. No, that type of "journalism" is junk and is certainly not necessary.

Give me some articles that pierce the very heart of the wrestling world, question the sanity of some bookings, pander to the heart of why some storylines work and some don't, etc.

For example, if you check out the Columns section in RajahWWF.com you'll notice an article written on 8/17/04 entitled "Beauty in Wrestling: My Champion" by Leon Thomas. I have no idea who this writer is but for the person who is a huge WWE fan (and I am!), this article is as close to a MUST READ as I've ever seen. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Bond - Triple H is out for himself. i mean, that's legit. the owner (or in this case, future owner) of the company should not be booking himself in a world title scenario.

if you want some real great wrestling, i urge you to check out Ring of Honor.

if you live in the northeast, i urge you to see a live show. it will blow you away.

speaking of which - Mike D - you're in the philly area, right?

Oct 2 you need to find your way down to the Armory, as aside from the regular fantastic matches, there will be a reunion of the original Midnight Express - well, not a reunion as much as the first EVER time Jim Cornette, Stan Lane, Bobby Eaton, *AND* Dennis Condrey have been in the ring together...

thesmartmarks.com is actually pretty good, but I can't decide if that's because the content is actually good or because of the dearth of ads.

tsn.ca was pressured from the WWE. I have a source on that.

I used to like slashwrestling.com, but they shut down about 2 years ago.

Bond, I enjoyed the article, thanks for the heads up. Interesting look, and a lot of data to support it. I definitely agree with the author especially with regard to how it all began.

I have been wanting a copy of this for my tape collection... anyone have it by any chance?

(and STILL looking for Super Crazy vs. Tajiri one on one for two years now...)

1994 - A pivotal moment in the history of wrestling, as Eastern Championship Wrestling became Extreme Championship Wrestling during a show at the ECW Arena in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show was based around a tournament to determine a new NWA World Champion (ECW was an NWA member at the time). Current ECW Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas won the tournament, but threw down the NWA belt and proclaimed himself the ECW WORLD Heavyweight Champion. The name change from Eastern to Extreme took place, and the NWA, represented by the late Dennis Coraluzzo, was left confused. ECW had legitimately swerved the NWA with the whole angle, to the point that Coraluzzo even taped an interview for ECW television afterwards, not realizing he was playing right into their hands. ECW separated from the NWA and began the "Era Of Extreme". Here are the results of the show:
First Round:
- 2 Cold Scorpio defeated Chris Benoit.
- 911 defeated Doink The Clown (Matt Borne)
- Dean Malenko defeated Osamu Nishimura.
- Shane Douglas defeated The Tazmaniac.
Semifinals:
- 2 Cold Scorpio defeated 911 via countout.
- Shane Douglas defeated Dean Malenko.
Finals:
- Shane Douglas defeated 2 Cold Scorpio to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title, but threw it down and proclaimed himself the first ECW World Heavyweight Champion.
- Cactus Jack & Mikey Whipwreck (subbing for Terry Funk) defeated The Public Enemy to win the ECW World Tag Team Championship

yeah I didn't know the name of the show when I was trying to download it...

and I can't seem to find any DVD's with tajiri/super crazy one on one. I have one with them in a triple threat with Whipreck but it is underwhelming.

May 15, 2003 article, so not totally up to date-----but a great rundown of available DVDs at that time, the history behind them, matches, highlights.......giving me freakin' chills. Nothing like it.

Taz lived an "extreme" life in ECW.

All this talk about videos/DVD, along with an article I read yesterday by Joey Styles, and I picked up Barely Legal today at lunch. $14.99 for 146 minutes of ECW DVD ain't bad. The Styles article said these ECW DVDs will be limited now that WWE has the rights, and will only be making their own DVDs. Also, that they aren't consulting Heyman, Styles, et al, in making ECW-related DVDs, so the "new" ones we see may not be all that great.

I wonder if Anarchy Rulz wouldn't be my best hope for Tajiri/Super Crazy action. Like if Guido just gets knocked out after a minute and its one on one after that...

why is this so difficult!? :)
