It was only a matter of time........they are using Heat and Velocity besides the normal shows, and have a salary cap. See below:

WWE News WWE News: WWE launches new online fantasy game competition By By Wade Keller, Torch editor Sep 2, 2004, 4:52 am
WWE has launched its new fantasy league at Fantasy.wwe.com It costs $9.95 to play. You get $20 million to select and manage your own WWE roster for eight weeks and you earn points by "following storylines, wins, finishing moves, and everything in between."
It wasn't that long ago that the use of the term "storyline" would get you slapped by a traditionalist, and now WWE is breaking out that term outside of the context of a mainstream media press release. It probably didn't even cross their mind when creating or proofing it.
More details: "Each week your Superstars will earn points based on their performances. You can add and remove Superstars from your roster with the goal of trying to accumulate the most points for your team by the end of the contest."
A player gets 3 points if their wrestler appears on Raw or Smackdown, 2 points if they appear on Heat or Velocity, and 8 points for appearing on a PPV. The points are higher for actually wrestling and even higher for winning. If they get in their finishing move, they get more points.
There are also huge points for winning or retaining a title. Bonus points are awarded for being part of the final match on a show. Points are also awarded for kicking out of a finisher or using a foreign object. You lose points for a disqualification or getting suspended.
The game launches Sept. 20 and the winner will be mentioned on a TV show. We welcome feedback from readers who join, especially those who have experience with other non-official wrestling online games and how this compares.

is it me or is that so much like our league as far as scoring that its almost scary? only the salary cap seems to be a change, but that was an obvious change because they will clearly get more managers than the 8 we use.
i suspect VKM stole our idea. Who's up on their civil suit guidelines? :)

I'm blaming it on Blue Hen. Why? I have no idea.
There are some minor differences......"Points are also awarded for kicking out of a finisher or using a foreign object." Points for being suspended (why?), using a finisher (cool, hard for us to track), etc..

OK, my first post in this forum (I think).
Do you worry about the fact that this game is based on a "sport" that has a predetermined outcome? Obviously someone plots out how the events will take place before hand, and that being the case, this person or someone who has access to him, could clearly get more information than average fans and use it to make his fantasy picks. If that kind of stuff happens, you'll have no chance to win. Even if you play in a RotoGurupie Division and you aren't trying to win the whole thing, I would personally not like that aspect of it. It feels tainted to me.

Yeah one of the writers could absolutely dominate it obviously.
But if it were a private league like this one it would be cool.

Agreed, Motley. Those factors don't affect our leage here. None of us works for WWE or has any inside connections to their writers. Monday night TV shows are live. The Thursday night shows are taped two days before on Tuesday and the Sunday PPV Specials are also live. We have to have our rosters set before the first show of the week starts, so even if there are rumors flying around about what is scheduled to happen, the whole league is privvy to the same info and has the same roster-setting deadline. Further, WWE is known to often change storylines and match outcomes in very short notice - often for the purpose of thwarting the internet rumor mill.
Obviously, a public game where there is some award or notoriety for world wide rank is open to corruption.

I think it's just a good idea in general, so they picked up on it eventually. It's not like they were quick to pick up on it.
Their UI absolutely sucks from what I've seen. I can't get back to my team or navigate much. But I suspect this will be improved quickly as time passes.
I'd be happy to win a Gurupie division (and there's no ambiguity about a keeper draft in this one). I have already signed up and drafted a team that's sure to bring the heat.
Scoring: RAW/Smackdown Appearance 3 RAW/Smackdown Match 5 RAW/Smackdown Win 7 Heat/Velocity Match 2 Heat/Velocity Win 3 Pay Per View Match 8 Pay Per View Win 12 All Shows Win a Title 20 All Shows Retain a Title 13 All Shows Finishing Move 5 All Shows Finishing Move Kick Out 3 All Shows Foreign Object Shot 3 All Shows Final Match 3 All Shows Disqualification -4 All Shows Suspension -10

Anyone else think a board-run team made up of the participants in the WWE fantasy league would be fun?

Board run team. Basically no cost. Collaborative effort. I would imagine we have our collective fingers on the pulse of the WWE and their storylines, so we would have a chance at an impressive finish.

i dont know that i'd pay 10 bucks to play. i don't know that i'd give 10 bucks to the WWE.
if there are prizes, i wonder if it's even legal. i mean, you're giving prizes based on something that, for all intents and purposes, is fixed.
btw, MC, i'm not so sure the WWE plots out much of their stuff too far in advance. they fly by the seat of their pants more often than not...
