I'm trying to set up my PS2 going through my Linksys router. When I get onto the PS2 to try and set up a connection it keeps getting timed out. Has anyone else had problems doing this, and if so how did they get through it?

Wired or wireless?

I run my PS2 on a Belkin router and all is right with the world. No real experience with Linksys other than a print server that fried after two days.

Here's a link to a linksys support message board with people having the same problem. If this doesn't have the solution at least you could be on the right track. Looks like a firmware issue...

1. Do you have a network adapter in the PS2? (don't shoot me, I have to ask)
2. Isn't there a CD to use in the PS2 to configure the network adapter? Did you use it?

I have one of the new built in slim models so it comes with it.
Then i'm not sure about the CD thing, i'll have to look in the box if I can find it. Could be an issue with it.
I was using NCAA Football 06 to set up my EA one and that's where I cept getting timed out stuff.

Going through the disk didn't help me either. It's gotta be something with my router.

Yeah I have a wired Linksys router too and never had any trouble that I can recall after using the CD to configure. I can't even remember the steps because it's been a few years.

Do you remember if you had to put in any kind of username/password combo for the router?

Didn't have to because comcast didn't require it for internet access (I think anyway)

I have Comcast broadband also and I do not recall ever having to put in a username/password to get my PS2 up and running either on the router side or the system side. From the router perspective, it was plug and play.

Does this happen at times that other people in your home are on the network or internet? I wonder if the timeouts could also be caused by a bandwidth issue.

I would suggest trying different ports on your router as well.

Nope no problems with anything else. Both computers work fast and great all the time.

I have been trying to hook up my ps2 through the internet all day, it is asking me to insert the CD. I either did not get a CD or I misplaced it. Is there anyway to get the CD online or anyway around it?
