Subject: EA Sports Game Reviews

I noticed NCAA Football just came out. Anyone got it yet that can provide a review and note some of the updates?
I also read EA is going to be releasing a few new games - ones which caught my attention were Arena Football and Cricket?! Thoughts? Comments? Reaction? Arena Football |

EA is the only way to go. I'll get the new ncaa football pretty soon. been playing a lot of march madness 2005 and fight night 2 lately. I won't touch a sports game unless it says EA on the front! looking forward to seeing some reviews on ncaa football.

I have NCAA 2006 to tide me over to the real football game: Madden 2006. Living in a funished apt. with a less than average TV I can't say too much about graphics as I can't determine how good they really are...
Race for the Heisman- You do a little mini-camp, picking whatever position you want to be. Basically you are a created player and based on your preformance in mini-camp you will earn scholarship offers from schools (or you can walk on). Then you have your new dorm which becomes more decked out the better you do. You try to supplant the current impact players of the team you are on and build your hype to win the Heisman and then go pro... *I like Dynasty mode really....
Impact players- Now the best players on your team can be "in the zone" which makes them more likely to make a play and it will be obvious when they are "in the zone" by a pulsing indicator.
New buttons- Extreme changes in button that I hate. I go to settings and play with the 2005 buttons because the 2006 buttons are not to my liking, especially on defense.
Any specific questions I could answer?
------ Now, for what I am really excited about:
Madden 2006!
A new feature of Madden is that each QB has a vision cone, the better the QB the larger the cone. You must throw to a reciever inside that vision cone or else the ball is more likely to be deflected or picked, making it much much much more realistic. I think this is the coolest feature I have ever seen added (of course you can still play the old way with stupid blind passes and complete luck if you want)...
So basically I bought NCAA to tide me over to Madden (the only video game I really play) and maybe to even export a draft class or two into Madden...

I took today off work to buy Madden. Isn't Donovan McNabb on the cover? He's the latest victim to the "Madden Jinx" now.
The new NCAA Football game was just painful. I'm playing on the high difficulty setting and I'm just blowing the computer away.
I play as Michigan and run the ball and the computer just doesn't play run defense well at all.
On the other hand, it's all I can do to complete a pass. Go figure.

is it possible to get updated "real name" rosters online for NCAA football on PS2?
i read about this place that would send you a memory card with the rosters already saved on there, wondering if i can get them online for free...

cosmo - can't you go in and change difficulty settings for that? usually if you tweak them just right you can get realistic results. I haven't played the new NCAA football game but I loved the 2005 version.

Holt:
You can tweak specific A.I. settings, but I'm already playing the game on Hard (I think it's called Heisman?). It shouldn't take micromanagement like that to not beat Notre Dame 113-7. I do get an unusually high level of happiness schooling ND like that, but still. :)
I was extra geeked up because a Michigan player was on the cover too.
Why can't they eliminate the cheapo touchdown during a rout either?
The '05 version was awesome. What school do you play as?
THK: Did you do the midnight run? I haven't done an official midnight one yet, but I've done plenty where the game or game system goes on sale right when the store opens. It's pretty cool. My local videogame merchant opens at 10am CST and I'll be there.
The best was for PS2 watching all the people who didn't preorder stand in line with those of us who did and actually expect a game system when the opening sale was for preorders only.

Great One - I sent my memory card to the guy the last 2 years, its worth it. You dont have to give him any money - I didnt pay him last year, and wound up feeling guilty about it, so I sent him $10 this year.
If you want to send me your memory card, I could copy the file to it and send it back to you...

Wow, that would make NCAA 10x better have named rosters...
Cos- I wasn't able to go last night since I was in a poker tournament however I went early this morning. Sadly, I have only had 1 opportunity to play and that was against my brother-in-law. 1-0! ;-) I hate the new defensive controls though...I can't stand having to press O to change players and x to sprint on D...ugh

Are you able to change the controls to 2005? That's what I do in NCAA since I don't like the O instead of X change.

Punk- If you change the controls to 2005 I am afraid you will lose some of the new features.
I am starting to get used to it...
I put my franchise on easy to develop my drafted dynasty the first year and get used to things. It was funny at first, but got boring real quick. Can't wait til the year is over and crank that bad boy up a notch (errr...2)

I am used to the new controls as well... i guess its worth adjusting cause surely Madden is gonna be this way now and in the future and it will be a greater pain in the butt to always have to change things (like when you go to a buddies house and play on his system).

I had a fantasy draft...I like drafting my team from scratch, because if I had to make all the trades to get the guys I want the 2nd year I can't fill a team because of all the cap penalties.
Now I am under cap by 13 million after signing all my key pieces to long term deals and I love my squad.
New controls are only a pain while tackling...It is harder to switch and dive at the same time.
LOOOOOVE QB vision control. So much more realistic. Truck stick is very useful as well. What do you think Great One? Best new features?

I love the vision control as well. It seems you can look off safeties, then hit bigger plays down the field without always having to contend with the double team. I also love the precision passing. Finally you can throw fades that work.

Precision passing is awesome too...
Listen to this team. Everyone is under 25 years old and have at least 2 years on them. All my key players are locked up to long term deals.
QB-Palmer RB-Kevin Jones WR-Andre Johnson, Mike Williams TE-Witten
LE-Peppers RE-Suggs DT-Wilfolk, Starks LOLB-DJ Williams MLB-Barnett ROLB-Pollack CBs-Dunta Robinson, Trufant, Pacman Jones FS-Sean Taylor SS-Roy Williams
I love my D... My O will progress after this crap first year to get used to things and get my team a little more seasoned...
I never took the best player available for the position I wanted...this is a true dynasty team. ;-)

THK - I don't have Madden yet and will probably wait a while to wear out NCAA a bit first. I'll probably get it right before the season starts I would guess.
I am intrigued by the new passing options, thats for sure though.

Anyone else messin' around with Madden 06 yet? I snagged it the other day, and have only had enough time to mess around with the beginning of the Superstar mode. I'm already wishing he was more customiseable, though... Even if only in appearance. There's the quick review of someone who hasn't even played a quarter yet! Haha.

NBA 2006 is now out... I'll be able to give a review of it later today or tomorrow. I'm a much bigger basketball fan than a football fan, so I'll actually play this one more than a few minutes.
I'm really hoping there's online league/dynasty options on this one.

That dynasty mode last year and the trading especially were very difficult to navigate I thought for NBA Live. I was very frustrated with the delay in trade offers and only being to offer 1 guy at a time etc..

mMoses -- I'm in my third year of Superstar mode. I created a wide receiver with a HOF WR as a Dad and some athlete/PhD for a mom. Had him go to USC.
You MUST modify his appearance. Go to the "Mirror" in your apartment and keep messing with everything until you get a full score for appearance.

mMoses, dude, I'd still like to hear your review of NBA Live 2006. I'm sure I'll buy it anyway but I never really took to 2005 and just continued to enjoy the 2004 version.
Not a sport game but I'm curious about The Warriors game as well (based on the cult classic movie).
warriors, come out to plaaaay.

Have long wondered about this question re Madden;
Is there an "auto" play feature, that would for ex, allow you to draft the teams as per your Fantasy League, and then let the game pc-v-pc, play out a weeks head-to-head schedule? I think it would be totally cool, to see how "my" team vs "your" team would really do in a H@H competition.

Sarge - WHen playing in franchise (which you can do a fantasy draft) you can choose to simulate the game.

NFL Head Coach - terrible
NCAA 2007 - 4.4 stars Jump the Snap is a great new feature. The main problem lies in the levels. Playing a dynasty with my HeeLs - Varsity and All-American are far too easy. Then Heisman is too difficult.. They need real work on their levels.
Madden 2007 - ??? I can't wait... NFL Superstar should be a great new part in the fact you ONLY play your players parts. You can also control the lead blocker (will running be too easy?).
Short versions on the new games.

I think I literally just plugged in the wireless adapter and that was about it. The package had like 3 steps and a CD to walk you through it I think.
