Hey, I want to but my boyfriend a hockey stick for his birthday....any ideas on which to get?
He currently plays with a wooden one but are composites better?....I really don't have a clue lol! Also, can you get left and right handed sticks or are they all the same?
PLEASE HELP!

Laurie. x

Between Wood and Composite, that's really personal preference I think. And yes you can get either left or right depending on which way he shoots. And depending on your price range there are a huge variety of sticks to choose from, some priced at over $100...

Laurie, if you were my g/f, I would prefer, and much appreciate it, if you left the choice to me. Work it to where you either take him to select his own stick or manipulate him into selecting his stick thru the 'net, catalogs, or just conversation. If that don't work or sound good, ask his hockey buddies what he prefers. I'm sure they know or can found out.

Challenger is right. A hockey stick is a very personal preference. You've got to leave the choice to your boyfriend.

Laurie,

You obviously want to do something thoughtful for your boyfriend on his birthday. I suggest getting him a top of the line composite stick. They are better, but can be considered kind of frivolous (and a lot of players won't buy them for themselves). Get something like an Easton Synergy then after your surprise tell him to take it back ang pick out the one he really wants.

He'll be impressed.

The composite sticks are awesome. I've only ever had one, and I miss it every time I'm on the ice. The day it broke I almost cried. ;) I haven't had another because of the price, but if I could afford it I'd never be without one.
