They hold the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Orlando Sentinal, and many others.
At first glance I think I agree with Josh Marshall that this was more of a bad business decision (or, a series of bad management moves combined with an unsustainable expectation of high profit margins) rather than a change in how newspapers are used socially and politically here in the US.

The indictment of the Illinois governor discusses firing members of the Trib's editorial board. The "Tribune Owner" made allusions to "budget cuts" that would appease the governor.
Just curious if THAT'S a sign of bias???

Since no action was taken along those lines I think we should presume that was the Trib just stringing Bloggo along as if he were going to get his way during Trib bankruptcy reorganization. At least that's the way I want to interpret it.
