I found this to be, something that I think we should all pause and consider.

Declaration of INTERdependence

Human progress having reached a high level through respect for the
liberty and dignity of men, it has become desirable to re-affirm these
evident truths:
· That differences of race, color, sexuality and creed are natural, and that
... diverse groups, institutions, and ideas are stimulating factors
in the development of man;
· That to promote harmony in diversity is a responsible task of
religion and statesmanship;
· That since no individual can express the whole truth, it is essential
to treat with understanding and good will those whose views differ
from our own;
· That by the testimony of history intolerance is the door to violence,
brutality and dictatorship; and
· That the realization of human interdependence and solidarity is the
best guard of civilization.
Therefore, we solemnly resolve, and invite everyone to join in
united action.
· To uphold and promote human fellowship through mutual
consideration and respect;
· To champion human dignity and decency, and to safeguard
these without distinction of race, or color, or sexuality, or creed;
· To strive in concert with others to discourage all animosities
arising from these differences, and to unite all groups in the fair
play of civilized life.
ROOTED in freedom, bonded in the fellowship of danger, sharing everywhere
a common human blood, we declare again that all men are
brothers, and that mutual tolerance is the price of liberty.

Which monsters must we then respect and shake hands with?

try reading it again Boldwin. Maybe, just maybe, you can set aside your bottle of acidic retorts, and we could consider Dems and Repubs giving it a go. Then, perhaps straights and gays? Then, shocker of shockers, Republicans and gays; Democrats and Evangelicals.

I dunno B. The idea he put forth, sure makes sense. Despite your posturing.

psst, sarge: He dehumanizes his perceived political enemies in order to neuter any lingering Christian thoughts. It isn't a teachable moment here.

How about the 'scientists' gathered around gas chambers in N. Korean concentration camps watching families breathe their last?

Do they stimulate the growth of man?

Should we be harmonious with them?

Should we treat them with understanding and goodwill?

Should we tolerate their conduct?

Do we have an interdependence and solidarity with them?

Will respecting them be useful? Is it called for?

Having a different sexual orientation than you is exactly equal to watching people being put into gas chambers and executed.

Also, nice job of skirting Godwin's Law.

Liberals would like us to skirt the existence of evil.

Durant's exercise is to ignore evil's existence while shake hands with it.

Worse than that what he's really doing is tarring the good while lifting up evil into the place of honor formerly reserved for goodness.

And that is satan's project in the endtimes. To overturn the moral order. Good is now bad. Bad is now good.

And let's just raise toleration of badness into the highest place, adoration.

But as you see in N. Korea, evil is very real. And if evil must be tolerated and befriended then you are in league with the devil.

But Dave, but Dave, aren't we supposed to love our enemies?

Indeed. We should hold out the possibility that they might repent and turn around from badness as that former prison guard did in the link in #5.

Indeed we should mark out clearly the way out of that evil.

---

Or should that prison guard slog on daily piling the bodies on the fire, warmed by the knowledge of our approval at the end of the day?

Never may that happen.

not in the least bit. i think you're the perfect example. someone who finds hate acceptable - and in fact, basks in the hate they feel for others - is darned close to evil in my book.

And that is satan's project in the endtimes. To overturn the moral order. Good is now bad. Bad is now good.

no one plays into this more than someone who justifies hate.

Hating people who you hope will turn around and change is a waste of time. Better to spend the time changing their minds.

Meanwhile 'hate what is bad'. Certainly don't raise up every morally depraved thing into a virtue.

See, you're actually almost on to something, except your definitions of good and evil (you know, the ones you got from reading the Spaghetti Monster's book backwards, that make a bunch of people "unpersons" in the first place) are completely screwed up, so the output is garbage.

You mean I could be spending my time trying to turn your mind around, Tree?

Hmmm, logical persuasive arguments...doh! Why didn't I think of trying that? */sarc*

B, look at the message in the OP, and then review your replies. YOU, are the one bringing in the 'evil', and you're bringing it by the bucket laod.

Good to know you don't hate me for my religion.

i don't hate you at all. i don't waste my time and energy on hate.

i do feel bad for you though, because i believe you're mentally ill, and i don't think you're getting help for your illness.
