I look at that picture and thank God for separate climate controls and comfort. If the future is riding bikes in that weather, you can call me a fossil all you want.

Bought Gary Numan's Replicas in 79 as a freshman in college.
But since this a thread about bikes I will see you and raise you one Baldy...
I'll never forget the first time I saw this commercial.
I'm thinkin'...'Who dropped a Trabant on my dream girl?'
How does a country that brings you Ferrari and Lamborghini turn around and hand you this car?
And then I realized that the designer short bus has to stop somewhere.
Fiat is a bankrupt entity that only exists because of bailouts from Italy every other year. Now that Obama gave them Chrysler and Italy is bankrupt, I guess bailing out Fiat will be our job now.
Thanks O.

definitely my favorite commercial of the Super Bowl.
i'll never forget where i was the day i saw Baldwin completely lose his $hit, turning a commercial about a car into some absolutely positively insane rant linking this commercial to the car manufacturer to italian bail...never mind....i don't even know what the hell Baldwin is trying to say.
When later asked about inevitable comparisons to John Z. DeLorean's infamous car, Musk replied: "If I had a dollar for every time somebody compared me to DeLorean, I wouldn't have needed an IPO."
Really liked his response there. Priced comparable it seems to a BMW X3 (50-75k), it will out accelerate a Porsche 911 from 0 to 60.

There are pussies and there are badasses. If you let Madison avenue and Hollywood define which is which, you will be poorer in all ways: pocketbook, heart disease and just about anything else you can think of.

I see, I should meekly welcome Algore's death of the internal combustion engine and face hypothermia like a man.
That's just stupid and I don't care what Algore or Hollywood think about it.

Structural batteries… February 14, 2012 by Joe Saward BAE Systems says that they have developed structural batteries that can now form part of the body of the device that they are powering. This means that weight and space can be saved. BAE is testing the technology on the new Lola-Drayson B12/69EV sports prototype, which will be seen racing this year. BAE says that it began work on the project as part of an effort to lighten the burden of troops carrying electronic items. The energy that can be stored in the new units is still quiet low but progress is being made all the time.
The batteries are nickel based and intended to have a long working life. The company says it has already constructed a torch and a small drone using the material, which will eventually be bought in a standard carbon composite format and laid out into whatever shape a designer requires. This has been achieved by merging battery chemistries into composite materials.
This is likely to be interesting for Formula 1 teams as although they are restricted in the power sources they can use for their electric motors in 2014, there may be ways in which some systems can be run using structural batteries, which will save power be taken from the main systems.
It will probably be quite some time before this starts making its way to consumer cars, but this has potentially to be very useful. It would also make getting into a wreck much more expensive.
[The President] went on to say that the matter of running Interstate routes through the congested parts of the cities was entirely against his original concept and wishes; that he never anticipated that the program would turn out this way… [He] was certainly not aware of any concept of using the program to build up an extensive intra-city route network as part of the program he sponsored.

I was not aware of the Dodge Viper's success in European racing...
You don't think you can jiggle some silicone on a bicycle? I'm not sure of your point, but you should probably discuss your current fetish with your wife.
And if you want to stay looking like a supermodel, even into you 40s, you ride a bike.
If there ever was the specific case where Obama was right on a specific point and Romney was wrong this should probably be your starting point to finding it.
Chicago introduces new bike sharing program costing taxpayers $9,600 per bike. I will never understand liberals. How do keep a straight face making a proposal like that?
The Chicago Reader pointed out that the first-year cost of the program would come out to $28 million in combined subsidies from federal and local authorities. That's $9,600 per bike.

of course, that would be accurate if the cost was strictly for bikes...
...but we all know it's not. there's plenty of infrastructure, equipment, and so-forth in making a city bike-friendly.
I will never understand liberals some conservatives. How do they keep a straight face making a proposal stretching the truth like that?
meanwhile, Illinois gets how much a year in federal highway funding? 1.1 BILLON DOLLARS, and the GOP wanted to increase that by another 200 million for 2012? (source)
At the very least there are fair questions raised by the article.
It should come as no surprise to those familiar with Chicago politics that the bidding process has been plagued by a lack of transparency and questions about insider dealing.
“Alta's bid for equipment, installation, and start-up costs came in at $21 million; Bike Chicago's was $13 million,” according to the Chicago Reader article.
Officials didn’t comment on why Alta’s bid was accepted but Bike Chicago’s wasn’t.

no question. however, that wasn't Baldwin's original thesis. instead of looking at a real issue, he preferred a perceived one, and saw it as an opportunity to again disrespect those he disagrees with politically.
I don't know Tree the point seems pretty reasonable to me - How do keep a straight face making a proposal like that? - despite the accompanying jab at liberals.
In your defense it's very hard to take the time to read through enough of what he posts and links to find the occasional solid point but when they do come up it should be a reminder to not just reflexively oppose everything next to his name.
