Probably deserves his own thread now.
As he starts teaching more and more that one of the core missions of the Church is helping the poor (always has been) and that money and politics are evil when they are ends to themselves, the rightwing Catholics seem at first stunned, then fight back.
Mark Shea with a long and quite good rebuttal to these attacks.
Well worth the time. |

A shameful, and unfortunately predictable, response from much of the rightwing. Many, are now seemingly saying that the Pope doesn't understand the Bible, but their prosperity preachers do.
