Wiggs, no need to split between rosters, as discussed in the Hoops Forum, IMHO. No point at all to splitting our teams. Just draft away.

5 active 3 bench, but what players qualify for bench status?
Thanks, THK

5 superstars, 3 free agents. Free agents are any non-WWE talent, and OVW and Tough Enough talent do qualify as free agents, as long as they have not yet debuted on WWE, unless of course they have since been cut. Correct?

Bench can be anybody. Anybody. Even Jay Leno.

actually, i think ANYONE qualifies as a free agent....it's kind of like a bench - like, you could have jeff hardy on your bench if you wanted, and move him up to the big roster if he gets put in a good program or whatever...
basically, you're taking 8 guys, but only 5 "count"...once the draft is done, everyone has to specify their starters and bench.

OK, gotcha. So put whoever we want on our bench, including existing talent. That makes more sense. THK, I don't follow Tough Enough either and never saw anything about OVW before Tree linked it today. Here it is. Looks pretty easy to tell which ones are closer to being headed to WWE. Following Tough Enough isn't that much of an advantage since there will be no more than two new wrestlers from that group in any reasonable amount of time.

actually, Leno has won a match, and David Arquette is even a former WCW World Champion...
and i'm not on AIM much these days because i'm not online as much in the evenings....LOL...
and OVW is the place...lesner..batista...benjamin...cena..rc haas (and his brother would be in wwe too if he hadn't died last year) are already in wwe....there are several guys who will be in the WWE this year...

Heels are the equivilant of badguys. They are more likely to cheat or start trouble for little or no good reason. Faces are the good(er) guys. Generally more loyal to their allies and prone to some set of values of one kind or another. Often, wrestlers will trasition (turn) from heel to face and vice versa.

Plus, heels don't shake hands, instead they use it as a further occasion to give someone a cheap shot. Face sometimes give objects to the crowd. Heels who beat up Al Wilson suddenly become faces. BTW, has anybody seen Species?

Unrelated to anything information:
Its a small world...
I was thinking back the other day to the last season of youth football that I coached (2 years ago). One of my players dad (step-dad), whom I knew from in HS, wrestled at UofMinn, so I decided to try and look up his stats. I started LOLing when I realized he wrestled with Brock Lesner. Well, not against him, as he was a lower weight guy. But still seemed funny to me.

I don't know who is good right now AND I don't understand how they combine the Raw stars and Smackdown stars to fight at the Royal Rumble when they never even talk to each other anymore. I am baffled and will be an easy last place!

i think we oughta do something for folks like Ace here...i dunno exactly what the format is, but maybe a little bit after we get started, we can let a few people in two-by-two, and maybe we all have to put ONE guy into the expansion pool, and the person picking gets up to 3 expansion guys, and 4 leftover free agents (or whatever freakin' number we settled on), and then everyone who didnt have an expansion guy taken gets their original guy back, and the other 3 dip into the free agent pool?

Just tell Ace to let me know...dsw827@aol.com or hit me with an IM on dsw827 (I am on, just ghosting...always). I figured that this league would help me get back into watching Raw/Smackdown and ordering all the PPV's...so that is why I would like to still be in if possible. But I definitely wouldn't mind tagging with Ace for some help because I don't want to embarrass myself too bad! ;-)

P.S.-Tree, don't think I didn't see what you did with Stone Cold! I mention him and you kinda put him down without being too noticeable! LoL...I wouldn't have got him anyway, but you were being deceitful! BTW-Everybody, Stone Cold is my idol! lol

I really wish I had the Undertaker as did THK.
I like our picks. Eddie is a solid guy on the mic, makes more run in's than most other people that were left, and as of now, holds titles.
Chris Beniot is from Edmonton, which helps, and also has more face/heel turns then really anyone left.
Lets just hope they dont face each other.

not trying to be a bung hole here, but we need to figure out what to do - i'm for a slow leisurely draft, especially since i'll be out of the house most of the day - but it's been almost 12 hours since Great One's pick, and since there was only one person between his first and second pick, he should really have stuck around....
thoughts?

In total agreement. With round 1 over, time limits are fine by me, though the process in #132 should be followed (IMHO) to protect the skipped person. If Great One is skipped, Blue Hen would be up. He'd get an allotted time. But, Great One would be able to pop in anytime and make his pick. What should the time limit be? 4 hours? 6 hours?

hard to call. because if you're pick is up at 2 a.m., and you're in, bed, what's to do?
i think SOMEONE should sort of be a "commissioner", and everyone should send that person their next 6 to 8 picks each round, which hopefully will at least be enough to cover their next pick...
did that make sense?
peace, Tree

Time limits are great as long as you have an "off time" for sleeping. For example, no picks between say 1-9am EST. Your clock would stop so to speak until 9am, at which time it picks up where it left off.
I am up for a 4hr limit. I'm okay with someone having a list of everyone's players, although I won't leave one because I stop back in often enough to not miss my pick.
|

That could be done, but I don't prefer it. I prefer "Live" selections where possible.
In Tree's example, say the pick is made at 2am and you are up next. AND, if we have a 6 hour time limit, for instance, you'd have until 8am.
At 8:01am, if no pick made, the next person would be on the clock (8:01am to 2:00pm). Once again, the first person can still make their skipped pick-----AT ANYTIME. So there isn't much of a loss there, unless a lot of picks get made quickly.
This is my proposal. I also propose that Blue Hen be on the clock immediately---or when others read this and agree to it---because Great One has had so much time.
For anyone who recalls, this was the general method of Guru's PROFL Experts League. Only difference was that they made picks via e-mail as opposed to posting in this forum.
A couple of Guru's league threads, where this drafting process was used, are:
Here (thread 1)
Here (thread 2)
And here (thread 3)

Considering that not everyone here is in the same time zone, I don't think that's too fair for an off-time. People just need to hang around when they know they are up soon and leave a queue when they will be away for an extended period - regardless of whether their next pick is in 2 turns or 23 turns. Great One had only one person before his next pick and he did not even give him the 16 minutes it took him to post. Wiggs has Blue Hen's next pick. If either wiggs or BH are around, they should go.

ok...i'm hip...i left my picks with Wiggs last night - he's snowed in, so he said he'd check back periodically...i'll check back every 30 minutes or so, but it's my bday today so i feel like walking around Chinatown and having my friends treat me to Vietnamese food today..
so sometime this afternoon, i'll be gone...hopefully i'll get a pick in before then and then not have to worry TOO much about my next pick for awhile...
on a side-note - i have the great misfortune of sitting about 3 feet from my boss at work - and he's got this absurd work ethic (i work 9 to 6 every day, and that's not enough for him), so the time i'm on the internet is seen with EXTREMELY glared eyes...
so, that being said - if i give my work email to SOMEONE here, who could email me during the day, so if i'm up, i can hope in and pick...

Got it MITH. Tree, no problem. You might want to re-e-mail (?) wiggs to let him know though. mIST, just trying to move things along. Understood though.

how about if we use a time limit when everyone is available. For example mIST's time limit would be different then other peoples, or would that be to confusing?

I read something on a message board saying goldberg should be fighting for a title by wrestle mania. Could be false rumors or could be a steal in round 2. I am hoping for the 2nd.

wiggs, I heard a possible 2 match deal with Rock, each winning one. But that's the extent of it. We'll obviously have to see. I was thrilled to get the Burned One with my pick.

Wiggs, he won't be around till let's say Febrauary, then it's veeery risky as a 2nd round pick.
I was thinking at a bonus for somenone KEEPING his belt, what do you think?

I knew he wouldnt be around til Feb, but i figured if he won a title at Wrestlemania he would hold it for a while and score alot of points that way. It could be an error on my part, but i hope not.

yeah, Big Show may be a questionable pick for sure. But he never seems to leave the Federation and he is on TV every week. He's sure to give me some points each week, which I wasn't sure I could secure from the other guys on my board.

he won't leave the WWE, because he has a guaranteed 10-year contract. they have too much money invested to not let him work.

Yea, you have to get points for putting up your title. Belt holders don't fight as often and when they do it is usually a big deal. They should get extra points for putting the belt up...
