Was it ever decided how many rounds we go? Once this round is over and people are being forced to choose between Steven Richards and Jackie Gayda, is there really much of a point in going more than another round? I know Tree has barely scratched the surface of his list, but I don't think most of the rest of us know who is likely to be promoted from OVW or signed from elsewhere anytime soon. I think it would be a good idea to have a few familiar faces (besides Al Wilson) in the free agent pool.

I had planned for 8. I'm flexible though. 6, 7, 8, etc. I still think if anyone wants to "bench" people they should be able to and I question if there should be any restriction. In theory, why shouldn't someone be able to bench all their people? They obviously won't get any points, but the GM should have that flexibility. Then there is no need to worry about exactly how many bench spots there are. Up to the GM. Could have everyone active as well.

My ratings so far. If someone picked on the 4th round gets an A it means that he's the best romeone could get ON THAT round):
Goat Locker
1. Brock Lesnar - A 2. Rikishi - B 3. A-Train - B- 4. Lance Storm - A 5. D-Von Dudley A- OVERALL: A-, my favourite so far
Mr. Nice Guy
1. Scott Steiner - C+ 2. Bill Demott - B- 3. B2 - C 4. Goldust - A 5. Jamie Noble - B+ OVERALL: B-, I don't think that Steiner will last that long, I could see at least 2 better picks before him.
Species
1. Triple H - A 2. Christian - B 3. Matt Hardy V1 - A- 4. Kevin Nash - B 5. The Hurricane - B OVERALL: B+, very good, great potential.
Farn
1. Booker T - B- 2. Big Show - A 3. Stacy Kiebler - D 4. Gail Kim - E 5. Rosey - B OVERALL: C+, I don't like the women picks, there were a lot of better choices available. The rest is quite good, even if I woul have picked Angle instead of Booker T.
Mike D
1. Kurt Angle - A+ 2. Kane - A 3. William Regal - B+ 4. Jazz - C+ 5. Tajiri - B OVERALL: B+, another good one, if Jazz gets a big comeback he could be the one to beat.
Wiggs
1. Batista - B 2. Goldberg - D 3. Rey Mysterio - A 4. Ric Flair - A 5. Dawn Marie - B OVERALL: B-, the 1st two picks are very risky, I really don't know how to judge him. Let's see within three months.
The other six later

mE, mYSELF and mIST
1. Shawn Michaels - B- 2. John Cena - B 3. Test - B+ 4. Paul Heyman - A- 5. D'Lo Brown - B 6. Hulk Hogan - A OVERALL: B, I like my roster, and while I wouldn't have picked HBK if I had to choose my 1st pick again, I'm sure I got a couple of huge sleepers in the following rounds. If Cena and Test live up to the hype, see you in the first positions. If they don't, send me a postcard. :)
Tree
1. Steve Austin - B- 2. Randy Orton - B+ 3. Bubba Ray Dudley - B 4. Chavo Guerrero - B+ 5. Maven - B+ 6. Sean O'Haire - B- OVERALL: B, he's on my same level, we made a quite similar draft, so...see above :)
MITH
1. Chris Jericho - A- 2. Trish Stratus - B+ 3. Johnny Stamboli - C 4. Victoria - A- 5. Nunzio - B 6. Crash - C+ OVERALL: B-, he's strong on the women's division but he's got too many jobbers. Good 1st pick.
Blue Hen
1. The Rock - B- 2. Edge - A 3. Shelton Benjamin - B 4. Charlie Haas - B 5. Al Snow - C+ 6. Jamal - B OVERALL: B+ I like the fact that he's got both the Team Angle guys. If they win a tag team match, and they'll win a lot, 50 points every time. I love that Edge pick, the only doubt I have is if he's going to hang on while The Rock is out. An absolute contender.
Great One
1. Undertaker - A- 2. RVD - A- 3. Rhyno - A 4. Jeff Hardy - C+ 5. Rico - B 6. Torrie Wilson - B OVERALL: A-, my second favourite, with three *devastating* picks. Jeff Hardy is lost, IMHO, but if he manages to find his own self again, he suddenly becomes #1 in my power rankings.
Tarheelkid - kev
1. Chris Benoit - A- 2. Eddie Guerrero - B+ 3. Billy Kidman - B+ 4. Christopher Nowinski - B 5. Chief Morley - B+ 6. Eric Bischoff - B OVERALL: B+, solid team, I like it.

Mike D - I think because people want some 'waivers' and let's face it, the knowledge level is diverse. By limiting the number of draftees it avoids stockpiling of lesser-known up-and-comers and gives some guys a chance to snag them when they come out.

Further, without allowing for negative scores, there is absolutely no point in benching any players if you are allowed to start all of them. Unless you want to start limiting the total number of appearances your squad is allowed over a given time or change the rules so that a poor showing risks a very bad negative score, why in the world would anyone want to limit the number of wrestlers they start? The advantages to a bench is that 1) it requires further strategy/luck on the part of the manager who must decide whether to start Hurricane or Lita on a given week (for example) and 2) it helps to even the score between the very knowledgable managers and those who may have drafted poorly.

Perhaps we could agree to reassess the start/bench number after an agreed period of time, say 4 weeks. Maybe we will decide then that the lower end of everyone's roster will never see any action at 5-3 and decide to change it to 6-2. Maybe there will be a huge influx of new talent and have declare an "expanded roster FA draft". Regardless, we agreed on 5-3 I don't believe it should be changed now.

I think there should be 6 and 2. Obviously some of us drafted on the come awaiting the arrival of departed (or never arrived) stars. If we didn't have a bench the strategy involved likely would have changed significantly.

My memory must suck. If 5 and 3 was agreed upon, that's fine by me. But what I do remember was the idea of a "starting lineup" and a "bench", so I want to be sure we stick to that at a minimum.

My mistake. Posts 46 to 58 yielded 5 votes for 5-3 and no votes against. The topicwas since dropped and only able to pay cursory attention here at work today, I assumed the issue was settled. 5 votes from 12 managers is hardly settled. I remain strongly opposed to 8-0, however.

I have a large interest in acquiring Nathan Jones as I am a HUGE fan of his, and very disappointed that I didn't consider him - as someone did post though, its unlikely he shows up anytime soon...
so Mr.Nice guy... perhaps we could work something out - I would like to package him with Goldust perhaps... no one on my roster is untouchable, except for Rhyno. But I guess (unless Steiner is involved) Undertaker would require an additional guy because he is a stud.
grr... and everything was going so well up until now.
and if anyone does want Undertaker, I am fielding offers, because I personnally don't like him - despite his upcoming return to his old gimmick. I would much rather have Y2J or Angle or certainly HHH...
I am working from 10am til 11pm tomorrow just so everyone knows where I am at... so don't expect me to respond to much til then - and thats if I can even get on my computer after I get home and showered. Our big screen tv IS our computer monitor so I often can't get on until everyone else has gone to bed.

two more things...
I saw Stacy and Test the night of Raw when it was here in Charleston SC... we hung out in the hotel bar after the show (because the bartender told us beforehand that this was where all the wrestlers would be later on) so we sprinted over there and starting watching the monday night game at the bar - and we look over and its Spike... we were like... cool, its Spike... THEN one by one all the guys start rolling up - Flair and Bischoff and Y2J and Arn Anderson and Rosey and RVD and Shawn - the entire roster! and me and my friend Brian. we are sitting there flipping out (while trying to act cool) watching security not let anyone else into the bar so the wrestlers wouldn't be bothered, but since we were already in, we just kind of stayed quiet and chilled.
This was the night Koy Detmer started for the Eagles and had that horrible injury and we all were watching it and talking football like just a bunch of guys at the bar would do... it was my greatest personal WWE moment. What I was getting at was that the bartender - who didn't really know anything about wrestling - told us that "the girl with the really long legs was there, and she was all over her boyfriend" who he described as Test - and then he mentioned that HHH was there - so we knew before the show that he was coming back from his injury to interfere in the RVD/Shawn title match... anyway.
Tree I also know Lita/Amy Dumas because she dated a guy I know named Beau who is in the hardcore band Avail. His little brother is my best friend. Ask your girlfriend if she knows who I am talking about.

Has an end to the wrestling season been discussed? At some point we should tally up the points and declare a winner, no? If this has not been addressed, I propose we declare Summerslam as the end of the season. At some point before that we can decide how much of our rosters we should keep, which managers want to stick around and who will need to be replaced, make any changes to address flaws in the league rules and conduct a new draft for the second season. Perhaps one week off and starting with the following Raw and going to the holiday break? Thoughts?

Isn't Wrestlemania the traditional end of the season? All things build to it, or at least they used to. Year long feuds would culminate there. I wouldn't be opposed to ending things then-----not the one in a couple months, but next year's one.

i think we should go from the present to Summerslam, then let the season run from summer slam to wrestlemania...however, the shows immediately AFTER the PPVs are crucial, and should count.
so, perhaps, the week following the week of the PPV should be the "off time"...
as for keepers, i say we get to keep 4, and we lose 4. then everyone else goes back in the hopper, and we do a fast draft...

I like all of Tree's suggestions, except that I think the new draft should be slow. As frustrating and time consuming as they may be, I personally prefer a slow draft in almost every situation. One week should be plenty of time to conduct a 4 round draft.

[boast]
I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out. In fantasy basketball, I had the 10th pick in a 12 team league, and I drafted Shaquille O'Neal. At the time, he was out, but when he returned, I knew he'd be a star player and carry my team. Well, that's exactly what has happened, and that's also what caused me to draft 1.10 The Rock with the exact same pick. He's a fighting champion and he's quite fun to watch, so I'm glad to have him leading Team Bring It.
The chance I took on Rock meant I needed some consistency, so I took Mr. Consistency, 2.3 Edge. When Angle defeats Brock at Wrestlemania, he'll need a new opponent (a face!) and that's when Edge will move into the spotlight.
Next we have Team Angle, 3.10 Shelton Benjamin and 4.3 Charlie Haas. Anyone in the first incarnation of this league will remember that Billy and Chuck carried me to the title, and these two are much better than the Unambiguously Gay Duo. Even if they don't go too far as a tag team, I took for Benjamin to rule the WWE, and soon. Too bad there's no more Intercontinental Title.
6.3 Jamal rounds out the regulars, and he's the 6th round version of Edge. It's not like they'll release him anytime soon, and there's a chance he could be a Tag Title contender very soon.
The real coup here is Tough Enough. 5.10 Al Snow will definitely have a few matches coming up, but 7.10 Eric and 8.3 John are clearly the favorites to win the competition. And if they do, they'll get monster pushes, since they are both bigger than Maven and (much) more talented than Jackie Gayda and Linda Miles.
Look out, because Team Blue Hen is right where they want to be!

Amazing how doctor's fears about Gunn's shoulder, and the possibility of him becoming a road agent, become so certain. As if he's been a road agent now for 2 years. Anything can happen at this point, although I admit if I had read that news a day sooner I likely would have skipped Gunn. I will probably wait and see on him. For now, I'll go with the brother Angle for my last pick.

Blue Hen - you've got a great team, and i'm stunned you ended up with Team Angle. what should be interesting is the fact that RC Haas (he wants to be called RC in honor of his brother, and i won't let the the WWE steamroll me into calling him something else) recently pinned Edge in a singles match.
however, i'm fairly pleased with my team. i made a lot of risky picks, but the way the WWE has been pushing newcomers lately, i think i've got a shot - and since Spanky is HBK's top protege, and the kind of guy that can battle a rey misterio and more than hold his own, he's my huge sleeper.
i'll have a name of this squad soon enough...

ok, before i start posting in the rules folder.
have we confirmed we're doing a 5 starters, 3 bench roster split?
additionally, we need to come up with a day/time that's the deadline to make picks.
personally, i'm leaning more toward a friday or saturday eastern time roster lock.
sundays are hard because of the monthly PPV, mondays are raw and thursday is smackdown. additionally, we've got to have a time that is fair to MIST as well.
i'm feeling like saturday night/sunday morning at midnight eastern. thoughts?

I wonder if they might bring Eric Angle around to help out with Team Angle. Personally, it's a great plotline, especially since they could also be called the Dangerous Alliance. Big Show is actually a decent complement to all the good wrestlers in that stable.
I'm hoping there's a team Tough Enough. Chris Nowinski, Al Snow and someone (D'Lo?) are beating up on Maven, and down come Eric and John to make the save. That'd be nice.
