Well the seasons isn't officially over yet, but why not get started? After two seasons of GO and I battling it out (actually it wasn't much of a battle this year), it's likely that some new blood is ready to rise to the top due to some unfortunate circumstances, bad luck and aggressive trading giving GO and I only 3 legit scoring keepers and NO picks!
Of course, congratulations to GO for his 2nd title in 3 years.....and as he is want to remind me, only the out-of-nowhere Hardy tag title win on the RAW after Wrestlemania stopped him from making it a wiggs-esqe three in a row. This year should be interesting with some astute keeper management by Farn, some huge draft pick stockpiling by Tree and some of both by wiggs making for some fresh blood at the top. If nothing else, it is likely to at least be much more competitive.
Documenting trades that will affect the draft order: Farn gets Species' 3rd round pick for his 4th (Season VIII Umaga deal) Mike D gets Great One's 3rd round pick for his 4th (Season VIII Edge deal) Tree gets Species' 1st and 2nd round pick for his 3rd and 4th round picks (Batista deal) wiggs gets Farn's 1st round pick for his 4th (HBK deal) Bobo gets Great One's 2nd round pick for his 4th (Nitro deal) Rude gets Great One's 1st round pick for "his lowest at the time of the draft" (Flair deal) Goatlocker gets Species' 2nd round pick (via Tree) and Tree's 4th round pick in Season 11 for his 1st round picks in Season X and Season XI (Khali) Great One gets Rude's 2nd round pick for his 4th (Booker/VKM).
More to come as Standings become official. |

Quick summary of rules adjustments for next season. We'll need to officially add these...
1 - No waiver claims after the final roster freeze of the season. All claims will need to be at least submitted 24 hours before the last deadline in order to clear and be posted.
2 - 1 waiver claim limit for all weeks of the season (nothing changed here)
3 - Starting in Season 10 - the last "week" of the season will only include the Wrestlemania PPV. We will have the rest of that week off to declare keepers and redraft and start the new season 8 days later. This will also be in effect for Season 11 (No Mercy PPV) and will be reviewed at this time next year to see how its going.
4 - Tiebreaker for top scorer scoring purposes will be to revert to scores for talent involved in the previous season (or seasons if by chance they tied two seasons in a row).

we need to get the ball rolling on the draft. first off we need to declare keepers (and i'd assume send them to GO).
maybe start the draft Wednesday morning so we can see full results of all 3 shows from this week?

I say keepers by that time because of the same reason (reading the results of the tapings for any last minute adjustments).
I believe that was our schedule last season and it was fine. Only takes a couple days for the whole draft so Thursday/Friday should be plenty of time. Especially with picks being bunched (ala Tree with all his picks in the top 15, and I have all mine at the end more or less).

From the Wrestling Online Newsletter - kinda funny:
WRESTLEMANIA 22 CLIPS AIRS ON NBC'S HEROES - In yesterday's episode of Heroes, one of the characters called Micah used his powers to help get free pay-per-view to his cousin he was living with. The PPV was WrestleMania 22 and they showed footage of Randy Orton wrestling with Rey Mysterio with JBL and Michael Cole doing commentary. Earlier in the show, the kid mentioned that he needed $65 to buy the pay-per-view and his grandmother didn't want to give him the money and he said that it's important because "it's the night of the tag team titles."
What they don't mention is that a new "hero" seemingly has the power to "record" someone visually doing something physical, and be able to replicate it. This girl say Mysterio do a 619 on Orton, and when someone was trying to rob her place of employment, she ran up to a pole and did a swinging 619 to knock out the robber! lol

Mr. Rude, Tree inadvertantly cc'd me on that one as well, so here is a cut and paste of what it said in case you couldn't wait...
--spoilers--
Hey Greg, Let me know what time you want me to pick you up for dinner. I can't wait to see you. I'll bring some ROH DVD's with me that GO lent me and we can watch them by the light of the fire. I've decided not to use any of my first 12 draft picks on CM Punk and if I did I would probably just trade him straight up for Carlito. Dirk Nowitzki rules!
See you soon - Father Tequila

from Peter Schrager's Wednesday Buffet (mailbag) on FoxSports -- the best sports/entertainment article each and every Wednesday!
Mullets and Kinda-Sorta Mullets, an Explanation Peter, You mentioned the LSU safety's "kinda-sorta" mullet last week. Please explain what a kinda-sorta mullet is, and the difference between that and a real mullet. Dave, Yardley, Pa
Dave, My pleasure. Barry Melrose? Real mullet. LSU safety Craig Steltz? Kinda-sorta mullet.
1990s Jaromir Jagr? Real mullet. Dirk Diggler in the '80s scenes in "Boogie Nights"? Kinda-sorta mullet.
Steve Perry of Journey in the "Separate Ways" video? Real mullet. Dan Marino when he was at Pitt? Kinda-sorta mullet. Ravishing Rick Rude? Real mullet.
You get the point. If it dangles an inch or more above the shoulders and an inch or more below the ears, it's a kinda-sorta. That's the good kind. Anything more is a full-blown mullet. That's the bad kind. You need to work hard to maintain the former. The latter is just plain lazy. For a visual breakdown -- here's Steltz and here's Melrose. Hope that clears things up.
So, there you go. No more gray areas. No more looming questions. And hopefully, no more grown men in face paint.

I can't believe Punk in just over a year has gone from ROH to the leading scorer and #1.01 pick of our entire league. Its incredible. And a lot of things had to occur for it to happen, but he was left standing when all the dust (injuries, death, suspensions) settled.

For those looking to add some immediate depth this season - I am interested in making the following trade.
Carlito 2.18 pick in the current draft 4th Round Pick NEXT season for Lowest 2 draft picks this season 1st Round Pick NEXT season
Thats two holes you could fill in immediately, and when you think about it, with that kind of depth and a decent season, your pick will be at worst in the 5-10 range and not that valuable. Lets negotiate!

At the risk of sounding out of the rumor loop, Rude, why did you draft Martel?

We want The Model in Team Rude to teach some of the up and coming talent how to be an effective heel.
Mr McMahon was first acquired to fulfill that role, but it was quickly realized he is more interested in counting his riches and wooing the women of the company with his huge grapefruits.
Team Rude is putting the league on notice and now has that "Arrogance" aroma.

I'm waiting to hear about Tree's experience at Wreslefest this weekend. The ROH show was solid, but supposedly everything at the event on the days prior to that Sunday night show was crazy... people no-showing (Nash/Hall, Angle etc), Lex Luger winding up in a hospital, the promoters checks bouncing for all the talent invited, people walking out...
I expect Tree was in the middle of everything and give us a little behind the scenes of what was going on. Sounds crazy.

I have been reading about this type of thing a little lately. These conventions where the guys running it either aren't making enough to cover cost or they are just stiffing the wrestlers. Either way its a bad trend and could severely impact the future of these things.

a bit more from 411
Your News: Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Nick Dinsmore all pulled out of the Cow Palace convention over the weekend. Lex Luger missed the event due to the nerve impingement mentioned above (temporary paralysis).
Some of the performers scheduled are at the Cow Palace signing. A number of booked wrestlers, however, including The Steiner's and Brian Knobs, have staged something of a sit-in at the lobby of the hotel where they were booked, waiting to be paid. From what I understand, they have been waiting since 8 AM Pacific for the wife of the promoter to arrive with their pay as they've been told they would be paid half of their money via cash and half via check. The wrestlers waiting were originally told that the bank was "three hours away", which was followed by a story that the wife was "pulled over while driving back", and later that there was traffic returning to San Francisco.
My Views: This show was a disaster, and the sad thing that people thought it would be before it went down. First of all there was the fact that they had the balls to try and run the FN Cow Palace! The place holds roughly 14,000 for wrestling, they were never going to fill that. That is a red flag right there. Secondly there was not a lot of advertising. A week before the show people booked on it were wondering if it was still happening. That is never good. With these issues, Angle "called off sick," which I believe because through TNA he was paid in full and had his plane ticket. Nash, Hall and Dinsmore basically got smart because they didn't receive their tickets or pre-pay that was agreed too. Now, if you are stupid enough to try and stiff Scott Steiner, then you're an idiot. Piper was paid half in cash and then got a check, which when he tried to cash it they said it was RUBBER! Police were sent to the deadbeat promoter's house in order to try and get the money fro the guys. There was also an altercation between Leyland Chapman's Boxing Coach and Don Frye, where Frye got sucker punched by the man. This convention will go down as one of the craziest ever, and another mark in the record books for shi--y promoters.

i will give you guys a bit more of an update when i recover. i took the red eye back from SanFran this morning, so i'm beat.
my favorite ROH moment was prior to the Vegas show. we had put some signs outside in an effort to draw a few more people into the show, and this slightly hefty, 40 something year old dude with greased back hair and an italian suit walks in and says "i wanna see this Negro Butcher guy...is he white or black?"
(that is not a typo)...
