Sting vs. Angle rematch for the belt should be entertaining. Two icons of wrestling. I hope Angle tries the 450 splash off the top rope again like at the PPV - good lord!

Awesome Kong is... awesome. Period.

And why did Greg Rude's cousin - Robert Roode - help Christian last week?

TNA has hyped that Sting's partner is "Qualified" and has held world titles in every company he worked for.

Anyone want to make a guess as to who this is?

This could be pretty cool - get to see an Ultimate X match for free. Set the DVR for Saturday night!

- TNA will air their Road to Genesis special on Saturday evening on Spike TV in anticipation for this weekend’s Genesis pay-per-view. The special will feature the Ultimate X bout from Bound for Glory which featured LAX vs. Senshi and Elix Skipper.

I would give my left arm to see MCMG vs. Kendrick/London. That would be amazing.

I hear TNA signed Joey Mercury/Matthews. Nice little pickup there.

more potential candidates for the "mystery partner" this Sunday

That was one of the more bloody scenes on wrestling TV this year.

The Joe v. Roode match is one that I would be interested to see on the PPV.

Looks like REDRUM also debuted which is the creepy masked character Johnny Stamboli has been using in Japan while fueding with The Great Muta. I always liked Stamboli in the Natural Born Thrillers. But now he has a mask and a creepy gimmick, so thats cool too.

Stick with OWW for all your wrestling historical questions... great pictures too. OWW

Natural Born Thrillers was a pretty awesome faction of fairly unknown guys at the time.
O'Haire, Jindrak, Palumbo, Stamboli, Stasiak, Reno and Mike Sanders as the mouthpiece.

Oddly enough - I recently learned that Sean O'Haire went to my freaking high school in Hilton Head. All these years I never knew that, I had him on my team in RWF and everything. I knew Scot Vic (Sick Boy) went there right before me, but not O'Haire.

looking at all the guys in NBT, i feel like if WCW hadn't insisted on pushing all the WWE old-timers, it might have survived.

"above average" Mike Sanders may be one of the most underrated mic guys ever, and Mark Jindrak is one of the bigger stars in Mexico right now, with a damned cool ring entrance (and wrestling under the name Marco Corleone)

Anyone watched these Kazarian vs. Christian matches? They've been really good.

and who knew Matt Morgan was so good on the mic?! stupid WWE saddled him with that stuttering gimmick...

Scott Hall looked pretty good.

How come people call it a WCW reunion when you have Booker T, Sting and Angle in a main event?
And yet when its Finlay vs. Rey (or Flair... or Booker up until a few weeks ago... or Y2J) on Smackdown... thats not? or when NWO was in WWE a few years ago.

Kurt Angle, AJ Styles and Tomko vs. Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Samoa Joe

Joe and Nash are out, and Joe is calling for a mic. Joe was told to come out by the back because the fans love him and give the announcement that Scott Hall no-showed. Joe wishes it was a joke, but it's not. Scott Hall punked out on this show, and everyone here tonight. Joe knew he could go 2 on 3 with Kevin and make the best of it, but then he realized…

"They just gave me a live mic on a pay-per-view. So, if nobody minds, I'd like to get a few things off my chest. #1, we have two types of wrestlers here. We have the TNA die-hards who come here and entertain and bust their ass for the fans every night of the week, and we got *superstars* who think they can come and do whatever they want however they want. We have *superstars*, who not only screw us – the hard working "wrestlers" – in TNA, but they screw each and every fan who paid to see them, no matter how old they are. So lemme make this real simple, let me explain TNA to you. TNA is the Motor City Machine Guns coming down here and busting their ass, trying to get a break in this business; TNA is Black Machismo doing his damndest to entertain every single person in this building, and showing us what's up; TNA is Samoa Joe coming in here and doing what he does best, wrestle and be the best damn professional wrestler in the world; TNA is a bunch of hard working, young athletes who are looking to change the wrestling world; guys who held down this business while others profiteer from it; TNA is the guys who come in here and risk their lives on scaffolds and wires, while other people show up and pad their pensions. So I'll tell you what, Scott Hall - *chico* - I'll tell you what. Kiss my ass, you're a punk. *Looks at someone off camera* "Go ahead, fire me, I don't care. So tonight, I went in that locker room, and they said ‘we called everybody in the world trying to get you a new partner'., and I said ‘No, we don't need anybody else. We got everybody we need in the back right now'. So I walked in the back, and I said hey, who wants to be in the main event tonight? Who wants to go get into a fight? And EVERY ONE of the X-Division wrestlers stood up! I walked in the back and asked who wanted to get into a fight, and every single young wrestler whose first TV contract was through TNA stood up and said ‘ME'. But one in particular, bloodied, beaten, battered, bruised, overlooked by everybody in the world said ‘Joe, please give me the shot'. So without further due, I announce my partner; a man that will show up, a man that will be here, and do what he needs to do; a man who is ready for a fight. A man who will be a man, even when he's an old man. Showtime Eric Young, get out here let's kick some ass!"

I think Blue Hen saw him at that NYC Steel Cage warfare show at the Chelsea Piers. Same night Abyss walked right by me as I was standing in line and Jack Evans almost killed himself (as usual) off the top of the cage.

Joe's Turning Point promo

Joe's infamous promo from Turning Point. Its a little uncomfortable cause he's supposed to be teaming with Nash - but he starts ripping the "superstars" and the old guys and keeps looking at his partner.

TNA is now spinning this and going to turn it into a young guns vs. the old guys type thing that we've seen in WCW (Natural Born Thrillers) and more recently in WWE-ECW with the New Breed.
Kind of a rehashed concept, but then again there aren't too many original ideas left (as the 15th Anniversary of RAW clips showed us), and it will give some guys a shot and usually sets up some good and interesting matchups and matches.

So I'm trying to figure out why one of the Highlanders was in the TNA crowd... and taking bets on how long til they fire him!

WWE wrestler Robbie McAllister (of the Highlanders) was shown in the crowd during last night's live TNA Impact broadcast. He was shown right as Mike Tenay said that Orlando, FL was the "center of the wrestling universe" this week and as a graphic came up reading "Derrick Graham-Couch - WWE Wrestler." Tenay then questioned who else might be in attendance. Tenay and Don West didn't mention McAllister by name and TNA used his real name in the graphic to avoid legal issues with WWE.

McAllister actually got in line with thousands of other fans inside Universal Studios and waited to get in to Impact. TNA soon became aware that he was in line (some members of TNA staff spotted him) and, of course, they made sure he got in. It didn't take long for him to leave the taping as shortly after he was shown on TV, WWE became aware of the situation and contacted him. Obviously they were not happy.

that coming off this warning as well.

-- WWE officials warned talent to stay away from TNA talent during their stay in Orlando this weekend. They do not want their wrestlers seen socializing with guys from TNA. WWE feels that there should be separation between the two organizations and that TNA is piggybacking off of their weekend in Orlando. The WWE AXXESS center is literally only a few feet away from the Soundstage TNA tapes Impact in.

-- The Orlando hotel in which WWE is situated at has been put on lockdown. Unless you have WWE credentials, security won't let you in the building.

-- WWE has purchased blocks of rooms for their WrestleMania Travel Package customers at the hotel the TNA wrestlers usually stay at. WWE will be holding autograph sessions with The Miz, John Morrison and Carlito at the hotel over the weekend.

and this just in

-- Gerweck.net is reporting that at least a few WWE wrestlers were backstage at tonight's live TNA Impact show in Orlando. Among those backstage were ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero and SmackDown star Shannon Moore. Guerrero's uncle Hector Guerrero is the Spanish announcer for TNA and he was shown on television during tonight's broadcast alongside colleague Willie Urbina (whose name was mistakenly spelled as Willie "Rubina" when his graphic was shown).

Maybe chavo will piss off Vinny Mac enough to make him dump the belt. i didnt see Kane or Khali mentioned in those, they should probably win.

Just got home from a TNA Show- I will say that that card was extremely weak, but 1 thing they did that WWE never did at any show i have ever been to is they hung out with the crowd. Kurt Angle came right to a buddy and I and sat with us and chatted- we got a couple cool pictures. After the show was over they did an autograph session and that was cool too. It was a great show for me to bring my 7 year old to.

hard to say but guess would be less then 1000. It is about the size of the albany arena and it was pretty empty.

After the show Angle called people into the ring for autographs and pic, I got my pic with him and he says to me "Get moving, I dont want people to see how small you make me look" then he picked up my son on his shoulders and said "Say TNA" and then they chanted it together.

Thats great to hear. I love hearing stories about guys, especially stars, who take care of the fans, especially the kids. Kids are what make those guys.

They do have an advantage in that with small crowds its very easy to interact but its still good they do.

Its never too late to start an apprentice program wiggs.

Give him full access to your team and let him know I'll trade him Angle for Cena. :)

Motor City Machineguns vs. the Dragon Gate team was a lot of fun and non-stop action with tons of innovative moves... hopefully a few of you caught it.

They also replay TNA at 11 PM on Saturday night... and its in the first half hour so you should be able to catch it pretty easily if you missed.

Yeah I enjoyed that tag match a lot but Alex Kozlov was fairly uninspiring. AJ was awesome as usual and I also liked the LAX v Storm & Roode match too.

Yeah, I taped those, but won't get to watch til later. Just watched that one while I was eating some dinner.
I'm not familiar with Kovlov, were we expecting much? does he have a good reputation? I have heard of Tyson Dux, so looking forward to seeing him. Davari is a addition to bring Team International some cheap heat.

World X Cup is just good fun. No stupid storylines, no run-ins, clean finishes. Good stuff.

And to see such great tag team action was a treat. Motor City and the Dragon Gate duo did some really creative double teams etc that were brilliant. I think this makes us all sad in a way and to long for the days when tag team wrestling mattered and it was just two guys put together with nothing else to do that were champs (Holly/Rhodes, Miz/Morrison). At least LAX are a real good team and champs of TNA right now. Homicide rules and I've never seen a BIG man fly quite like Hernandez can.

Rey Bucanero & Ultimo Guerrero are set to work TNA's Impact tapings on Monday and Tuesday of next week. They will be part of the World X Cup. The finals of the World X Cup will be at TNA's July 13th PPV in Houston, TX.

This should be fun... hopefully they have some good opponents. And if these guys reach the finals vs. that team from Dragon Gate, that might just be ridiculous.
I hear Milano Collection AT is on one of the other teams too... loved him in ROH.

Just 2 weeks after ROH draws 2500 fans at the Hammerstein Ballroom... poor TNA. Maybe one day they'll get a good crowd like an ROH show lol...

-- There were a ton of empty seats at last Saturday's TNA event in Topeka, Kansas as the house show only drew 500 fans to the Kansas Expocentre, which can hold 8,000 seats. Additionally, house shows the week before in Dallas, Texas (8/15) and Muskogee, Oklahoma (8/17) drew poorly as well. However, the 8/16 house show in Lawton, Oklahoma reportedly drew okay.

Nigel was great tonight, can't believe they put him right into something with Angle. WWE would never have had the balls to have an outsider jump right into a main event fued.

Danielson will surely debut vs. Funaki on Superstars and have a gimmick where he's a mute with a mohawk or something.

Well as we all know 8 PM tonight with Hogan's debut. Should be interesting. I'm surprised WWE didn't counter with a 3 hour RAW to try and blow up their big move. Bret Hart is big, but Hogan's still... Hogan.

On a pure awesomeness level, if this match happens on my TV tonight it will be the best match on either show. - The Young Bucks are booked for the Impact shows this week. There is talk that they will face The Motor City Machineguns this week on TV.

I have to admit I've never watched more than 3 seconds (literally) of TNA. And tonight will be no different. I can't even pretend to care about 84 yr old Hulk Hogan, his fellow egomaniac Eric Bischoff, or any other NWO castoff they are bringing in for tonight. I'm all for competition but a bunch of geriatrics isn't competition.

Its hard to think Hogan/Bischoff will work but its worth a look. But its not like WWE is very young either, we just tend to ignore the fact that their main guys are all in the 40's -- HHH, HBK and Undertaker all are. And 60 year old Ric Flair was a prime time player last year for WWE. That HBK vs. Flair match at WM25 was over 100 years old combined! lol...

TNA's last main event had AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels who are all pretty young. And AJ Styles is a young fresh champ. Now if Hogan brings in Brutus Beefcake and he beat Styles in 5 minutes. Well, then you've got a great point.

And Young Bucks vs. Motor City Machine Guns will make you wish WWE still gave a crap about tag wrestling.

Farn - turn it on. The Young Bucks vs. MCMG might very well change your mind.

and all four are very young guys - Chris Sabin is the oldest at the ripe old age of 27. But combined, they've been wrestling for almost 40 years.

Styles vs. Joe vs. Daniels was amazing. a match that shouldn't be missed.

Farn - give it a try.

Young Bucks were trained by Marty Jannetty too I learned when Rude and I were chatting about them. They basically look like The Rockers in their prime, but with even crazier, high flying moves. MCMG are the more proven commodity, but I think the Bucks can take them up a notch in their TV debut and really push them.

Wiggs will watch I bet. He likes to try different shows.

Angle vs. AJ was awesome, I second that. Thats the reason I watch this stuff, to enjoy matches like that.

It was definitely a little out of whack for parts of the rest of the show. I think they were trying to cram in all these debuts (Hogan, Flair) and returns (Hardy). I think they did do a good job of planting seeds. But some of it felt disjointed. And no Beer Money or British Invasion among others was disappointing. Especially with 3 hours to work with.

And coming off that great PPV, Impact blew RAW out of the water too.

Certainly the ratings won't reflect it yet because there are so many WWE sheep out there, but if they continue putting shows on like this the gap will start to close.

In defense of WWE, they were a bit off kilter last night thanks to the flight issues. I won't condemn that bad show last night.

That said, they really need to start upping the product a little. Outside of what I thought was a solid Swagger/Taker match there wasn't much. But like I said it was a tough night for them.

Absolutely that Swagger/Taker match was top notch. Main event was ok too. And they did just try and patch it together and did an alright job given the circumstances.

But agreed they need to step it up a bit. And these guest hosts are getting stupider and stupider. I wonder how HHH and co. really feel about having to work with these people each week. And frankly, the MacGruber stuff wasn't that bad. Although it would have been awesome if Santino was there lol...

Impact has just been no nonsense badass wrestling lately. RVD, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Pope, Sting, Abyss, Beer Money, Machineguns etc are getting it done right now. Hogan and Flair are actually doing the right thing, being manager types, helping these other guys out. The womens division is light years better than WWE and they are doing with the X-Division what WCW used to do with the cruisers like Rey/Eddie/Malenko/Juvy and letting them put on great shows with tons of action on the undercard.

I should probably tune in and watch TNA. I'm just hesitant to add more programming to my week. I can barely keep up with what I already watch.

The WWE women's division is awful. Not only do they not give them TV time but they only give them time to be eye candy instead of to wrestle. Give them a chance to show what they've got.

Glad to hear Hogan and Flair aren't wrestling. I figured it might be like vintage WCW where Hogan hogged all the TV time.

He gets plenty of airtime, but in the authority figure or manager role. Flair is merely manager to AJ Styles. So I think those have gone pretty well.

Watch the replay this Thursday at 9-11. This episode was real good. Plus had the big title match.
