Is it me, or are trades pretty hard to come by? Someone has to have some glaring holes in their roster to take a "2 for 1" type trade. kev likely never does the Benoit trade if he thought Benoit would have been a keeper for him....etc.

IMO, a trade can be pulled off if:
a) the two teams involved have different (long term vs short term) priorities.
b) the two teams involved have differing opinions of the value of a wrestler.
I don't know if this trade stands much of a chance, since I have no idea whether it fits either of these categories. I'm offering it because Y2J is my favorite wrestler and while I do like Rey, the season will definitely be more fun for me if I have Jericho.

I think it would be easier if the free agent pool was bigger. A 2-1 where you scoop up a contributing free agent would work.
I don’t know if it makes sense to widen the free agent pool or not. Possible scenarios would include:
1. Eliminate our benches totally, making all wrestlers active. This adds 2 wrestlers per team to the free agent pool (24 wrestlers) 2. Reduce the bench to 1 spot instead of 2. This adds 1 wrestler per team to the free agent pool (12 wrestlers) 3. Go back to 5 active wrestlers, allow maybe 1 bench spot, thereby reducing rosters by 2 spots. This adds 2 wrestlers per team to the free agent pool (24 wrestlers)
After looking at those scenarios, I’m not sure if any make sense. However, I noticed the word free agent is there a few times. We have been treating available players as “waiver” claims, which cost the GM a waiver spot. I’m thinking we should get rid of the waiver claims and make them instantaneous free agent claims instead. It may promote more activity.
Are waiver claims really needed? Since our game is not restricted in terms of talent that can be obtained, probably not. No one is “added” to the game like in Yahoo.
As an option, players that are Added could be picked up immediately, but the dropped player could then go on waivers (48 hrs etc). This would be more like Roto/Yahoo. Then we’d have to decide on the secret versus public waiver claims. Either way works.
Sorry for the babbling.
I could always add some of this post to the waiver thread....since it overlaps.

The first problem there is that I believe there are 6 or 7 of us at the most that pay close attention to wrestling news, checking at least one news site several times per week or more. Those of us that fit that category have enough of an advantage as it is in this league (though you wouldn't know it by looking at my team). Allowing us unfettered access at unsigned wrestlers doesn't seem fair if we want a league where those who just watch the TV shows and/or PPVs can compete - which I think we do.
The second problem is discarded wrestlers are useless at least half the time, probably even more often than that.
One idea that might possibly curtail 'waiver theft' is reducing the waiting period to 24 hours, effictively slicing in half the amount of time that the rest of the league has to steal a waiver pickup upon announcement.

Count me in on the majority of owners who are not as dialed in to the rumors and news in wrestling. I don't check daily - or weekly for that matter - so there is no doubt that I would get "scooped" news-wise about a signing or surprise return of a wrestler.
I could live with the 24-hour waiver period, however.

I would rather have Nash (who I know you hate anyway - that way I would put him together with Shawn and hope for, umm.. well... a time machine! or Rikishi who is one of my favorites.
we could even leave out Rey/Y2J and work maybe...
Orlando Jordan/Regal 4 Nash/Riksihi
all four are based on potential I guess.

I really don't have much faith on an impactful Regal return. I'd dop him on waivers as soon as the wire is active. Rikishi/Jordan, for this season might be close to a push, and in any case are the two closest in potential for the season, IMO. Nash is a McMahon favorite and is a safe bet to find himself in most of the PPVs once he returns from filming. In any case, I want Y2J.
I could go Nash/Vince for Y2J/Regal(or whoever you prefer instead of Regal)

don't think I can part with Y2J without getting at least what equals to an upper first round pick. I think he has a lot more value then Rey - but I like Rey more - so thats the dilemma. I though Jericho was just awesome last night, he put on a good show with Austin.
Really would love to get Cena, I think I should I have taken him in the first place. Even Orton would be great for those considering offering trades...

I can't do Nash/Rikishi because that won't leave me very many active guys. I am kind of short as it is.
I really wanted London too, but I need scorers right now, and I doubt you want the potential of Regal. The thing about Regal - and Edge for that matter, was that I could see either one of those two - making triumphant returns and being IC champ again by the winter. And thats great to have on the bench, but leaves me with few options. So the only person I could offer for London - reasonably, would be another non scorer.

Well, any of those offers still stands, including the initial one at the top, which would seemingly get you a legit cruiserweight contender in Nunzio, whom I've read several times impresses the McMahons (that's why I kept him), and also get you another active wrestler in your stable, possibly allowing you to afford a deal for London.
One other thing I would note; Regarding your statement that Jeicho has a lot more value then Rey, while Rey did finish 178 points behind Jericho, remember that Rey was out of action and regulated to commentator duty for a few weeks following the injury he suffered from his match with Big Show. If Rey had wrestled in those 3 weeks, the difference would be about 100 points.
Consider that since his return from that injury (week 19) Rey actually outscored Y2J over the remainder of the season - with help from winning the Cruiser Title at a PPV shortly after his return. But they've been pretty close no matter how you look at it, even since Rey won the title:
Last 24 weeks of Season 1: Rey 368 - Y2J 345
last 10 weeks: Y2J 233 - Rey 197
Last 5 weeks: Y2J 152 - Rey 133

post 32 will force us to make some decisions regardng trades because i don't want someone to blue hen because they don't like something that wasn't decided upon ahead of time...
personally speaking, i'm very much against trades that are allowed to be official between Raw and Smackdown.
the trade should be allowed, but the rosters have techincally already been set, so the traded players should not be allowed to tally points for their new teams until the following week.
in this particular trade, it's not really an issue.
but perhaps a trade would be proposed where two wrestlers, active for that week and both smackdown wrestlers, were traded to one team for a raw wrestler and an inactive wrestler.
the situation here is that one team could technically have seven point-scorers in one week, and i'm not sure i'm comfortable with that.
hopefully i'm making sense.

From my perspective I see our "weekly lineups" as just that - weekly. Kind of like in Fantasy Football - once you've set them for the weekend, you're done. IMO, once RAW starts you can't change your lineup even if you hear that a Smackdown wrestler is out with the flu. Hence, it should be common sense that mid-week trades can go through just fine but simply aren't valid for point purposes until the subsequent week.

Rhyno 4 Christian?
you can tinker with it (work someone else in for Gunn, London, Steiner?) I am guessing you want some Smackdown guys. I, on the other hand have nearly all Smackdown guys and want to balance it a bit too.

I am thinking along the lines of what I call an "upgrade/downgrade". I downgrade some (read: not TONS) and in return I get a 2nd wrestler who is reasonably solid. You take your good guy, upgrade to Christian for the price of some depth.
You guys start with some names and I'll go from there.

so Rhyno and Nunzio for Christian and Gunn/London (I am assuming you are getting rid of your non-scorers at the moment)

GO - I don't consider Rhyno in Christian's class, so I don't see where I gain. Christian is the IC Champ (at least at this writing....lol) and IMO has a bit more value.

Sorry, but Mark Henry is red hot at the moment, I'm not trading him.

Is anyone getting Wrestlemania tickets? I really want to go and wanted to know if anyone else would consider all meeting up there. Thought we could get one person to charge tickets so they are together and then we all send $ through pay pal or whatever... anyone interested?

I might be into it. If I was to go my girlfriend and our friend Kim would probably join me and they only allow 6 tickets per purchase.

i've thought about going, but the cheap seats - at 60 bucks - will probably not offer great sitelines - although MSG actually doesn't have too many bad places to sit...hmmmm...
i *might* be into it.

I would consider hosting a party, but my apt is very small. Very doable depending on how many would be interested in coming to Brooklyn.

a party would be more fun to me - that way i feel like i'd be putting a lot less money into Vince's coffers.. :o)
i'd trek to that other outer borough - whereabouts in brooklyn are ya? my girl might tag along, but knowing her, she'll relish the chance to have me out of the house so she can get some studying done.
and i'd offer my place up, but it's probably even more tiny than yours. and i have a big dog. :o)

Fort Greene. 1.5 blocks from the Lafayette Ave stop on the C line or 4 blocks from the Fulton St. stop on the G line or 6 blocks from the Atlantic Ave station which has every other interboro line (except the F and L) stopping there.

I could take the train in to the city - (I live in Woodbridge, NJ)... unless someone lives nearby and wants to pick my butt up - cause I am certainly not driving to Brooklyn on my own.
I am just a lowly southern boy from Charleston, SC who just moved up near the big city - Brooklyn scares me :) So does Vinny Mac.
I guess we have roughly 6 months to figure it out.
